  2. The 3.6L V6 is replacing the 3.0L V6 on both the Terrain and Equinox as the upgraded engine. However, you can get the 2.4L 4-cylinder or 3.6L V6 in the Terrain Denali too, so really I think the name "Denali" will be the draw to this model. I don't think GMC did enough with the interior or exterior of the Terrain Denali. It looks like a tarted up SLT-2 model... with the chrome bling on the tail lights, satin chrome on the rocker panels (which explains the picture we saw last year with the holes on the rocker panel), and the holey-grille known on all Denali models. Some aero rocker panels, new front & rear bumpers different from the regular Terrain, standard AWD and 3.6L V6 might have made a difference in my opinion of this new model (that is the formula applied to the Sierra and Yukon Denal'is, and to an extent the Acadia Denali {I'm not sure if AWD is standard or optional, and there is no other engine available on the Acadia}). The wood and "Denali" name added to the interior of the Terrain Denali did not go far eneough. A Denali-specific interior color pallette should have been used... otherwise, what makes the interior of the Denali different from the SLT-2?? This to me is a half-hearted effort to keep sales momentum going for the Terrain model. It definitely has not caught my desires, though in fairness while I like the SLT-2 Terrain I do not like it enough to want to buy one of those either.
  3. Looks interesting... will have to check this out if it's on display at the upcoming NYIAS.
  4. I don't think they went far enough to separate the regular SLE/SLT Terrain from the Denali Terrain in terms of exterior styling (really, just the holey-grille, new rims, chrome bling on the tail lights and lower rocker panels?). Then the fact that you can get a Denali with FWD and the 4-cylinder engine? That to me just has abandoned the whole move-up Denali concept!! I blame the Acadia Denali for this, as the engine in that model is the same as the other Acadia SL/SLE/SLT models (I do realize that there is no V8 engine to put in them, unless the 5.3L V8 fits). While I'm glad GM/GMC is keeping the current generation of the Terrain fresh in the consumer's minds, I will say PASS to this model myself. Definitely a CHEERS though to the new optional V6 engine for all Terrain models - the 3.6L V6 is a great engine to add to these Theta-based vehicles.
  5. I've wondered the same thing this week... maybe he's part of the focus group for this car, seeing as how he had an Impala demo recently
  6. Well, 10 years ago today - March 15, 2002 - I became a member of CheersandGears.com. I am not the oldest posting member by any means, [cough]Camino[/cough] , but I have never left this place for more than a week's time (hey, sometimes I needed a vacation!). I have learned quite a bit about my favorite automaker, more than I sometimes wanted to know about other automakers, have met a bunch of C&G members over the years in person, and have been blessed with gifts from members past and present (and have tried to do my share of "passing it forward"). This is the place I come to for my daily dose of automobilia and don't foresee me leaving any time soon (God willingly!). Thanks to Walt for starting this very addictive site, FlyBrian for his term keeping it going, Dodgefan and all the writers & supporters for their hard work, and to Drew (Oldsmoboi), our current Fearless Leader of C&G, for not only picking up the ball and running with it but for the host of upgrades and changes to make our time spent here much more enjoyable. Cheers to looking forward to another wonderful 10 years spent at C&G!! ~ Roger (aka GMTruckGuy74)

  8. All I said was - That would be pretty cool, especially if the Ute and Wagon were offered too - I didn't say GM would be out of their mind if they didn't offer the wagon or ute, nor did I say GM sucks for not bringing over the wagon and ute too. I was having a moment of hope, especially for the ute (though I would dump the Envoy for a wagon in a heartbeat! ). I know and don't expect the wagon or ute to arrive on our shores any time in the near future
  9. The 2013 GMC Terrain Denali will debut at the upcoming New York International Auto Show and will be on sale this summer. Engine choices will include the 2.4L 4 cylinder and the new-for-2013 3.6L DI & CVVT V6 (replacing the 3.0L V6 engine upgrade). Other Denali-specific exterior features include: Signature chrome grille Satin chrome accents Body color front and rear fascias Body color rocker panels with satin chrome molding New headlamp and taillamp designs Dual chrome finish exhaust outlets (single outlet on 2.4L) Terrain Denali's cabin updates are highlighted by soft-touch Jet Black leather, which lines the seats and door inserts. 11. I'm wondering how close of a prediction the Caprice PPV is? That would be pretty cool, especially if the Ute and Wagon were offered too
  12. Now that explains why GM is offering a $1,000 incentive on V6 models... thought that was strange the other day when hyperV6 posted about that, then seeing some print advertisements in Sunday's newspaper with that same amount.
  13. dfelt, I believe GM is going to answer your call with the next generation Terrain and Equinox. Oldsmoboi stated in 2011 that the next gen will be smaller than the current gen.... which may help with reaching the target audience you've mentioned. I think the current gen is good for families that don't need a 3rd row vehicle or want something that can fit in a garage. I agree that the Terrain/Equinox are quite long for their class (which helps with the 2nd row legroom). Time will tell!!
  14. I actually like that sytling, I find it very unique in the sea of SUVs. It's a shame public opinion is causing a redesign... how many of those complaining about it would/could afford it???
  15. I get what you're saying... I wasn't looking at the price though! Here's a similiar one with 27k on it for $23K: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/2885735164.html I'd go for that before I'd go with the one on eBay (unless I hit the lottery ).
  16. Not far from me at all...
  17. Welcome, Jessy! You should have started your own new posting so everyone could give you the proper greeting!!
  18. Hey now wait a cotton-picking minute there mister!! I've bought four vehicles from a semi-local GMC dealership - 2 GMCs, 1 Pontiac, and 1 Buick (used) and have felt I could have received no better treatment. Now as for my two Chevrolet purchasing experiences (and numerous test drive visitations), I felt as if I needed a shower afterwards to get "clean". But we could have had different experiences in the long run. I have no hesiatation dealing with my semi-local Buick-GMC dealership
  19. Congrats on the Terrain purchase. You know I'm happy with your choice
  20. My sentiments exactly (saw both at the Philadelphia Auto Show in early February). I do not like where Ford is taking their design/styling - everything is egg-like in shape. Can't wait until they add this styling to the F-series trucks (can you picutre what a F-350 Super Duty will look like??? ). The new '13 Fusion looks like a copycat of other designs - Jaguar, Aston Martin... if I wanted one of those I'fd buy the original. I much prefer the current '12 Fusion over this new one. As for the Escape, they took the Fiesta/Focus and made it into a CUV.. I think many that like the current, boxy/trucky design may be turned off. My friend that went with us, a huge Ford fan, loved these new vehicles. He and his wife were thinking of a new Edge in a year or two, but he wants her to consider a new '13 Escape instead. The XTS I can see having a bit of the egg-like shaping, but no where near as the Fords do. I saw no egg-like shaping to the ATS, which I surprisingly liked very much (the wife has been pining for a CTS for years, and I think the ATS would be a better choice going forward - the LaCrosse would be a more likely candidate though - another car she has been pining for for a couple of years now).
  21. I voted Cheers because I love the SSR and hope to one day (sooner rather than later, but that's a financial pipe dream) own one.
  22. Welcome, Pa.Bill!! Some of us have been here quite a while. Hope your stay here is enjoyable

  24. I completely understand the need for auto manufacturers to keep new model releases closer to their officail release date, but one of the benefits of putting out a show car/truck version of an upcoming model a year earlier is that it gives the customer an opportunity to "fall in love" with it. Marketing benefits because they can start collecting consumer information and reach out to the early adopters. However, I guess I should look at the recently released 2013 GMC Acadia, where they showed it off in February with a summe on-sale date target (4-5 months early). Chris, here's hoping you catch some shot of the Canyon to appease me and the other small truck enthusiasts
  25. Any idea when we'll see the new Canyon???
