So, went window shopping for new Buicks today. Wife was pretty well set on a LaCrosse but found the Verano an interesting option too (she referred to it as the 'baby LaCrosse'). She hates Sunday 'window shopping' as she wants to get behind the wheel and go for a test drive. She loved the LaCrosse courtesy car last week and is curious as to the ride of the Verano in comparison. I'm going to try to get her to the dealership early this week for a test drive. Can anyone here who has driven a Verano and a LaCrosse provide me with input on these two cars, especially any pros/cons to each one?

Yes, I saw it. It was a 2006 concept, not a 2015. I saw it at the NYIAS in '06. Neat concept, rumor was Dodge was considering it for production. According to Wikipedia, this was as large as a 2006 Ram pickup http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Rampage_Concept

Thanks, Cort. I've been on the hunt for '73-'87 GM square body pickups. I've noted about four that I want to get pictures of; problem is most are on private property so it's hard to do that without legally trespassing This particular '79 was parked on the street when I passed by, but I think the owner was doing yard work when I paused to take the picture

Driving to work on the NJ Turnpike Monday morning I spotted this former Cadillac ambulance (hearse?) on the back of a car carrier: Today I took the day off from work to relax (!) and run some errands. While taking a road less travelled, I stumbled upon this '79 Chevy C-10 Silverado:

http://autosofinterest.com/2015/03/16/general-motors-head-up-display-history/ I only know of the following 2015 GM vehicles that offer the HUD (RPO UV6) option: 1. Buick LaCrosse (1SL, 1SP, 1SR) 2. Cadillac ATS (sedan, coupe, ATS-V) 3. Cadillac CTS (sedan; 2SK, 1SG, 1SH, 1SJ, 1SK, 1SQ, 1SR, 1SS, 1ST) 4. Cadillac Escalade/ESV (1SB, 1SC, 1SD) 5. Cadillac XTS (FWD 1SC, 1SD; AWD 1SC, 1SK, 1SD, 1SL) 6. Chevrolet Camaro (2LT, 2SS, ZL1) 7. Chevrolet Corvette (2LT, 3LT, Z51, Z06) 8. GMC Acadia (SLT-2/Denali) 9. GMC Yukon/Yukon XL (Denali) I'm surprised that the Impala LTZ, Traverse LTZ, and Enclave models do not offer this option (LaCross/XTS, Acadia sister models do). The Buick LaCrosse FWD Leather (1SL) model we had as a service loaner last week had the HUD option as part of the Driver Confidence Package #1 feature (which was part of the Experience Buick option package). It lacked a few features that my wife's 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT HUD had - turn signal & high beam indicators for example - but it was nice to get behind the wheel of a GM vehicle with the HUD again. I'd still like to see GM offer this on more vehicles and not just top-of-the-line models either.

Chevrolet News:Coming for 2016 - Chevrolet Suburban HD
GMTruckGuy74 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
Maybe it will just be called Suburban 2500 rather than 2500 HD if it's truly not on the HD platform?- 11 replies

Edit: I don't see GMC on the press schedule and we know the 2016 Terrain MCE is coming to NYC.. so maybe Buick-GMC has a separate event planned in NYC and not necessarily at the NYIAS?

Is it really coming out for 2016? I don't think Buick is on the NYIAS press schedule, unless it will be a surprise?

So the wife is interested in a 2015 Buick LaCrosse. I'm not up on my GM cars as much as I am with the trucks. Are there any plans to update or drastically change the LaCrosse for 2016? I'd hate to get her one this year only to find out an updated model is planned for 2016

My Canyon is at the dealership today to have the GMC Accessories soft cloth folding tonneau cover installed. The service department provided me with a new 2015 Buick LaCrosse loaner vehicle (well, actually they provided me with a GMC Terrain but the wife jumped on the LaCrosse offer). She's enjoying the car very much, has been smiling from ear to ear since about 7:30 PM last night. She's not one to talk "car" much, especially at work, but she's been chatting the Buick up with anyone that will listen. She was set on getting a 2016 Buick Cascada after seeing it at the Philly Auto Show in February, but she's always liked the LaCrosse since it was introduced in 2010 (all new model). I fear a 2nd car payment will soon be among the many financial issues we'll have to deal with.

Hummer H3 original concept alternate
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Heritage Marques
Nah, you're not alone. I was a fan of the Hummer by GM. Still wish it was a derivative of the GMC lineup, but that's water under the bridge now. What Hummer got right: CONCEPT: PRODUCTION: -
Was searching Google this past weekend for some Canyon information and stumbled upon this site: http://www.slideshare.net/mobile/JonAlbert1/veh-des-portfolio-v3 In the shared slide show presentation, one of the designers of the 2004 Canyon/Colorado shared some design history of that generation of the smaller pickups. He also worked on the Hummer H3 program which included these original designs for the H3. Warning: if you're not a fan of the Aztek, you may be disturbed by the picture shared here and more on that site I'm glad they ended up with the design that was produced! This Aztek-inspired look, IMO, would not have been as admired. Check out the link above for more information.

I'm liking the new styling direction over the current model's 'quirky' styling. I'm also more impressed with the interior dash design too. Had a 2014 Spark rental for a day last spring and it really isn't the car for our needs (35-40 mile one way work commute on major NJ highways). But the Sonic is more my speed and looking forward to the eventual interior update it will receive - can't accept the 'motorcycle' inspired dash design.

I like the look of the Goodyear Duratrac tires. I wonder if a set would fit my 18" rims without rubbing? I see GM installs these tires on the 17" rims all the time. I'd like to see the Z71 Trail Boss decal in better detail, if you can get a picture Drew. What cracks me up about the Colorado Z71 trim is that Chevy goes the distance to remove chrome on this trim but leaves the headlights and fog light trim rings chrome? Doesn't make sense! The headlights should be blacked out and the fog light trim rings should be either body color or blacked out too.

I don't know if I agree, dfelt. The Syclone was limited to just under 3,000 units in 1991, with a price tag around ~$25K (I can't recall the 2-year production numbers for the Typhoon nor the MSRP). For a truck, it had a lot of media presence and it was featured all over the place. Even today, 24 years after introduction, a well cared for Syclone sells for at least $15k in the Northeast. There are fan sites, clubs, and they still show up at high media auction coverage. Now the '92-only Sonoma GT was an under appreciated truck, it had the high output 4.3L V6 engine in it

I'm not a spray-on or plastic bed liner kind of guy, dfelt. I like my pickup beds to show their color (paint). Then again, I'm not tossing firewood, stones, mulch or anything like that in the bed of my truck - maybe I'd change my mind if I had too. I put in a plastic bed liner into my '01 Sonoma HighRider; the same week I purchased it a friend was turning in his leased '99 Sonoma 2wd and sold me his pristine bed liner for $50. It helped protect the bed from when I moved and hauling some stuff for friends & family (washer/dryer, large screen TV), but I hate how it covered the blue paint and being plastic items moved around easily. That's why I'm going with the rubber mat; protects the floor & prevents items from rolling around (provides grip) but can easily be removed if I want to. I'd like to see spray-on liners come in color instead of just 'black''. I'd likely be more open to getting that option in the future. -
Thanks ocnblu and knightfan!!

Thanks everyone for the great comments. I'm so impressed with the new Canyon - the way it rides, handles, and the features it has. Light years above anything I'm use to driving. The only options my 4LT (4WD SLT) packaged Canyon has are: (G7J) Emerald Green Metallic, (E25) 5" Rectangular Chrome 5" Assist Steps, (I06) 8" Diagonal Color Touch Screen Navigation with IntelliLink Radio, and the (UQA) Bose premium 7-speaker system. I am having the dealer add the (5JY) Soft cloth, folding tonneau cover - this is both a factory and a dealer-installed GMC Accessory. This will allow me to use the bed when we are out shopping or traveling to keep items out of the weather. I'm likely going to go online to ShopChevy.com and buy the (VBR) Rubber Bed Mat so that items don't roll all around the bed so much Z-06, the only two GearOn items I'd remotely be interested in are the (RVY) pickup box cargo divider and the (5VI) cargo tie-down rings. But I'm also open to finding another aftermarket cargo bar to help keep items in place. I had bought a true cargo bar - not a bed divider - when I leased my 2001 GMC Sonoma HighRider and it really helped to keep items in place. I'm sure someone make something like that and on the cheaper side too -

Jet Black Leather. Really like the Jet Black/Ash (gray) interior of the Colorado, shame GMC only has black and cocoa/dune (not a fan of the brown & tan interior). -
