Not sure of the answer, but our sales reps (pharma company) are allowed to use their company-purchased vehicles for personal uses too, in addition to work duty. So it's possible that someone driving a Captiva could be driving a company car on personal time.

Honestly, which one would you buy? 2012 RAM 1500 Express 4x2 (5.7L Hemi V8), MSRP: $25,060: - OR - 2012 GMC Sierra W/T Plus Package 4x2 (4.8L V8), MSRP $26,450: I'm a big GMC fan and all, but not only does the RAM look more upscale, but sportier too for the money. I want GMC to realize this and make sure the 2014 Sierra is ready to fight with the RAM.

I know I posted this in the April car spotter's thread, but I too am tempted by these RAM 1500 Express models: Also, this sinister looking Express was on display in the basement of the NYIAS, that also had me drooling over a RAM:

Cheers or Jeers: 1986 GMC 4x4 Firetruck
GMTruckGuy74 replied to wildmanjoe's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
Really? That's intriguing. The truck shows I go to in NJ and PA have just about everything covered in the trucking world history book. You'll see milk delivery trucks (Divco's), military (Deuce & a halfs, jeeps, half-tracks), freight companies (Macks, Kenworths, Peterbilts), tow trucks & fire trucks of all sizes and ages, in addition to other crazy trucks you'd never think people would restore - and that's in addition to the pickups, wagons (SUVs), sedan deliveries, specialty vehicles (ambulances, flower cars & hearses). My favorite two truck shows are quickly coming up in June: ATHS Metro Jersey Chapter Truck Show, Automatic Switch Company, Florham Park, NJ - Sunday, June 10 and the 33rd Annual ATCA National Meet in Veteran's Park, Macungie, PA on Saturday, June 16. My other favorite truck show is in October, the weekend before Hershey (usually). -

You don't go to a lot of classic truck shows, do you? -
Also, the wife and I commute together to work since I started at her company in October 2010. However, lately her work schedule is requiring more time from her and mine is not as tight. Since we live roughly 45 minutes away, I can't stand to be stranded at work longer than needed (there's no overtime in my dept, so it doesn't pay to stay longer). We've been taking separate vehicles often which kills me (I hate all of the mileage I'm piling on the Envoy for work purposes - I don't mind family duty or pleasure trips), especially since her G6 has always been the one to use for her work commute and I've accepted the higher mileage we're putting on it as a result (I don't agree with putting two vehicles in this situation). Anyway, she mentioned the possibility of getting a 3rd vehicle for work commuting so we could take separate cars when needed - I was looking at 8-12 year old vehicles but am disappointed with the prices of used vehicles today (and the condition they come in for such high prices) that we're considering leasing another car. She wants a Chevy Spark, I'm looking at base model GMC Canyons and Sierras (W/T 2WD with auto trans as the only option - 2.9L 4 cyl/Canyon and 4.3L V6/Sierra). The Spark won't be out for another couple of months (Summer 2012) and believe it or not, it's hard finding a dealer locally with a basic work truck (Canyon or Sierra) to test drive and get lease prices on (I know they can dealer trade, but I want to test drive first). My Envoy had low mileage when I bought it March '10 and with work commuting it's adding them up. So I'm tempted to see what I can get a basic pickup truck lease for, but question if I should wait until the end of this month (Memorial Day sales) or wait for summer (4th of July sale, end of the year sales in August) first?

The truck sits higher than normal, so the headlights would be above most cars. Hence the headlight placement in the front bumper extension to remain legal for US roadways. You got it!! -
The judges are going to give it to you, ROg, as you got the concept quite right... tho this is the car pic I saw that sparked the question : Wow, that was just a lucky guess. Didn't even think of the El Camino.

My guess: full-size station wagons. When the tailgate was in the down position, the plate would swing down so it still could be read.

Some of my April sightings that I haven't been able to post lately and want to get them in before April runs out: 2012 GMC Sierra 3500 DRW Chasis Cab, Tangier Orange, seen at Flemington Chevrolet-Buick-GMC-Cadillac: 2012 RAM 1500 Express 4x2: 1997 GMC Jimmy SLS 4WD 2-door with 140k for $4,995 My township Fire Marshal's 1970 Chevy Chevelle 396SS that he's owned for twenty years (first time I've spotted it at the fire house): And a fellow fire police officer/firefighter's 2012 RAM Power Wagon that I've finally been able to snap a pic of: That's all for now!!

I don't believe so, Cubical. They were in the heavy construction business with Euclid starting in 1954, which GM then sold off and formed Terex in 1968 (which was a part of GM until 1980 and 1983-1986).

Chevrolet News:Did OnStar Accidently Confirm An SS Model In 2014?
GMTruckGuy74 replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
The Avalanche is puzzling, unless it will be gone for one year to create some demand from previous owners (most likely just a typo). Colorado is to be a 2015 model year truck, not calendar year (will be on-sale in calendar year 2014 though). <--- btw, that's the overall discussion from several places, not direct knowledge on my behalf. -
Cool pictures, Chris! No frontend shots of a GMC, or were they all Chevies being driven? It's cool that the trucks will carry on the chrome/split bar, and I'm liking the honeycomb grille that ties in to the upcoming Cruze and Impala releases. Can't wait to see these without camo, especially the GMC Sierra.

Review: 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Crew Cab

My name is Roger and I love pickup trucks. You hit the nail on the head describing me too. I grew up riding in granpa's '55 GMC 100 longbed pickup, which then bacame the backyard playground equipment when I was about 6 years old. Dad was a dock worker/forklift operator for a trucking freight company. They had late model Mack R-models, though plenty of older B-models could still be found running around the property or parked off to face a slow, quiet death. As such, toy trucks were a part of my life - everything from Matchbox to Buddy L to Tonka (I was born Dec '74). Not to mention the amount of pickup and SUV trucks in the neighborhood. Being a GMC fan, I can always tell the difference between the current generation of Sierra & Silverado pickups Great write-up, mud! Glad to see you enjoyed the week long test drive and that it confirmed your love for trucks. I had a loaner 2010 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab 4WD with the 4.8L V8 and four-speed auto a little while back (October 2010). I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I had with that truck (would have been better if it was a Sierra though). Can't afford the Sierra I really want at this time, so I'll continue with the Envoy and wait a little longer until it happens. Trucks are what I enjoy driving, and will be for the foreseeable future. Can't wait to see what the new 2014 full-size pickups will look like. Now what do I have to do to get GM to drop off a week-long test vehicle at my house??? -
Cheers or Jeers: 38 Mile 1996 Dodge Avenger
GMTruckGuy74 replied to wildmanjoe's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
My mom really wanted the Chrylser version when they came out in '95, wasn't a fan myself. The Chrysler dealer in Hamilton (Mercer County) was playing hardball with my parents, since these were initially hard to come by with all of the options she wanted (loaded, with sunroof). Took them over to Reedman Auto World in Langhorne, PA because I wanted her to see the new Chevy Monte Carlo instead of the Chrysler (purposely walked them in through the Chevy side to see the MC before heading over to the Chrylser showroom). Again, what she wanted in the Chrysler wasn't available, so she test drive the MC. She fell for the maroon LS model in the showroom and several hours later drove home her brand new '95 Monte Carlo LS (that she kept for 10 years). A neighbor ended up with a loaded Avenger later that year and complained to my parents constantly about the problems it had (made my mom glad she bought GM). -
