  1. Hmmm... good question, hyperV6. I think they're trying to keep as much of the new trucks a secret, building up that suspense, and not giving Ford, Ram, Toyota or Nissan any kind of "head's up" on what they're going to offer. Plus, factor in there's a ton of '12 models to be sold and they don't want anyone to pass on those (nor do they want to discount them or the eventual '13s heavily). I pray that GM is not running behind with this very important vehicle launch
  2. Source: http://www.insidelin..._ss_627121.html *Watch the video at the link above. While the title states "Chevrolet Silverado", what you see mostly in the video is the next GMC Sierra: Based on those two photos I've posted above, I'm not getting a 2011 GMC Sierra All Terrain HD Concept vibe in that front end: Nor am I getting a 2013 GMC Acadia vibe in that front end: And I would say that from the two pictures I posted above that there's going to be a large chrome piece mounted at the top of the grille, a'la GMC Terrain, based on the mounting holes visible:
  3. Interesting article here about commercial vans being the next "big thing" in the marketplace. Can't say that we haven't already discussed this topic here, but in the article there's an interesting picture that has caught my attention. Ford will be bringing over the larger Transit to replace the Econoline model, and if it came directly as this: I think I'd be tempted to change over to Ford for my next family hauler and give the wife what she wants (a minivan). Can't wait to see where this new market goes!!
  4. Link: http://cnj.craigslis...3106614244.html Seeing as how I really want a '55-'57 GMC, yesterday I jumped on the email and contacted the owner. I received a reply today, and unfortunately for me it is a 1955 1st series pickup (carryover 1954 model). I will admit that of the 1947-1955 style, the '54/'55 models are the only ones I like (non-split windshield and extra chrome surround around the stock grille). Here are the eight pictures the seller sent me: So, what do I envision this truck to look like if I were to buy it and put it all together again? This: However, I'm not sure I want to go for this truck (though the price is sure attractive enouggh). I really want a 2nd series '55 to '59 more. BUT, this '55 1st series can definitely be a nice truck.
  5. What am I digging most about this truck? This: Traditionally, the letters would be painted a bright red. I'm digging the gold coloring a lot! What is my biggest pet peeve with this truck? This: That is a tailgate used from '67 through '87, and the GMC block letter styling doesn't blend well with the '50s emblem on the hood. This is the tailgate that should have been used ('54-'66) and the letters could have been painted gold to remain within the theming: And my final nitpick... the smooth hubcaps: I'd rather have the stock hubcaps used with either the red round part painted gold or the letters painted gold: However, if I could afford the price of this truck I guess I could afford to correct these issues
  6. Check out the specs and many other pictures at this link: http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sales/inventory/active#!/1957-GMC-1-2-Ton-Pickup/133020/180319 What's this truck got under the hood? A 5.7 LS1 V8 engine, hooked to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. A fantastic paint job in an awesome color - Planet Color Tobacco Copper Metallic exterior paint. And it can be all yours, for $99,900. Thanks for the head's up FOG... that's one modified GMC I'd be proud to call my own (well, there's a few things I'd nitpick about for that price, but other than that it's a great looking rig). . BTW, I won the NJ Lottery today.... too bad it was only $2 from a scratch-off ticket Now all I need is $98,898 more...
  7. I have to admit I'm disappointed by this news. I was hoping to see a show truck version of the Sierra & Silverado at the NYIAS, but realized that was a bit too early for GM to show off any part of the new trucks. With a spring '13 release, I figured September would be on the early side but not that early. I guess maybe November with the LAIAS now? I really want to see these new trucks! It's not like I'm holding off buying a '12 or carryover '13 model, but realize that may swing some from buying a leftover/carryover and waiting for the new model. GM doesn't want to have to give away the outgoing trucks for sure
  8. A friend of mine from the fire station buys his vehicles from a partiuclar Dodge dealership in southern NJ; he bought himself a 2012 Ram 2500 Power Wagon this year, upgrading from his 2010 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4WD. He mentioned to me on more than one occasion that the dealer owner is a fire truck enthusiast and had amassed a small collection of vintage fire trucks. Not having any partiuclar need for them, after a few years of ownership and storing outdoors on the dealer lot, he decided to sell them off. He took a picture of one he though I'd like, which he thought was a Chevy, and sent it to me last month. I've been meaning to go online and check it out, finally doing it today. Turns out that it's a 1965 GMC 5000 chasis cab "Custom Cab" trim with a pumper body installed. Pretty sweet truck, if you ask me. The online price is $4,995, but my friend told me I could buy it for less than that if I was interested. I wish I had an indoor storage space and the cash for it, as I would jump in a heartbeat for this GMC. Click here to see the online ad at the dealership's website. He also has a 1960 Maxim fire truck for sale too, if you know anyone into them:
  9. Chevy Performance was at the Carlisle Fairgrounds 2012 All-GM Nationals on June 22-24, and if you registered with Chevy at their computer kioske you received an XL t-shirt with the new logo as you described. A blue Cruze with striping was on display, as well as a 2500 HD Silverado pickup, a Sonic Sedan, and a hot rod '30s Chevy that always had a crowd around it. I didn't get any pictures though.
  10. Tempest, though I would beg for a base model '62 Catalina hardtop coupe instead
  11. Oh, New Jersey has it's fair share of stupid people too. As a fire police officer that primarily performs traffic duty, I'm always questioned about why "I" have closed a road - then told that it's the only way they know how to get home. The people asking usually have lived in that area most of their lives. My standard response is, "Well today you're going to have to learn a new way home." They typically aren't thrilled with that advice I'm sure my fellow NJ posters will add their own stories soon
  12. for a very belated , guys!!
  13. Cool pic! It's a '56 based on the location of the fender emblem.
  14. Sorry for your loss, Cubical. We had to euthinize our 8 year old Lhasa Apso "Snickers" last September due to cancer, so I can empathize with your pain.
  15. Horse, that was a barn find that went to auction as-is and sold for quite a bit in that condition - almost $800k (but really, any condition Tucker sells for quite a bit !!): http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2011/01/tucker-1010-gooding-auction-/1 http://www.barnfinds.com/fifty-year-sleep-1948-tucker-barn-find/ http://www.supercars.net/Pics?viewCarPic=y&source=carGal&carID=2141&pgID=1&pID=979650
  16. I do not like the heat and humidity, so I've appreciated the cooler than usual temperatures throughout June in New Jersey. The few periods of heat waves we've had in the recent past, and the current one we're experiencing, cause me to hibernate in A/C places, such as the movie theater and my house I dread July & August
  17. You know, I always got chocolate or vanilla soft serve They had hard ice cream that they hand scooped, but I doubt 31 flavors. They were known for their novelty sundae's and "Fudgy the Whale" ice cream cakes.
  18. But remember, that likely means sales of NEW Toyota products once the insurance companies settle out the claims
  19. I grew up with a Carvel Ice Cream store in my town that we went to a lot.... don't see many around though their ice cream cakes are sold in many grocery stores (Acme, Wegman's, Shop-Rite). Was surprised to see a HW's series in Carvel's name at Wal-Mart last night.
  20. M2 Machines Auto-thentics Release 19 Trucks, releasing now (which means I'm on the hunt for these two): 1958 GMC Suburban Carrier and V-8 Engine - Cape Blue and Dover White Top: 1959 Chevrolet Apache Small Window Step Side - Yukon Yellow and White Top: The other trucks in this series include: 1951 Studebaker Truck (Service Utility Body) 1956 Ford F-100 - Light Gray (Stake Body) 1956 Ford F-100 - Springtime Yellow (stepside pickup) 1957 Dodge 700 COE - Sublime Green (COE stepside pickup) Link with pics: http://www.diecastal...elease19-2.aspx
