  1. Actually, they're not as hard to operate as they seem. Once you get the balancing figured out, you're good (should take 10-15 minutes for this task). The wife and I took the Segway "Around the World" tour at Epcot back in '06. The two-hour tour consisted of a half-hour indoor course to learn how to balance, move and control the Segway PT, then the next hour & a half crusing through Epcot's World Showcase before it opened to the guests. I was in love with the Segway prior to this tour, I was totally head-over-heals after. Last year when we were at Epcot they gave 15-minute demonstration rides inside the Innoventions building, so we got to ride them again. I'm going to look into the Hershey tour for the fall
  2. *NOTE: this show will be held rain or shine!! Location: Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum, Hershey, Pennsylvania Link: http://www.aacamuseu...ent.aspx?id=424
  3. While the inner child in me likes motorcycles, the adult in me would never allow that purcase After watching the movie Larry Crowne, I had the desire to go hunt down a scooter But in reality the one thing I'd love to purchase is a brand new Segway PT i2: These things are a hoot to operate, and several cities offer Segway Tours (Hershey, Gettysburg and DC are the nearest ones for me). Dorky, and I'd be like a Mall Cop, but I still love these things nonetheless!!
  4. I took this picture Friday night at a local car show:
  5. *See pictures at the source. A more performance themed Silverado (a'la Camaro/Corvette), and something in the veins of the Syclone/Typhoon-but-part-Denali with the Sierra. 2WD, V8 performance, RWD (if wanted, make AWD an option), offered in all cab configurations, and customizable options (aka - not fully loaded). I could see the Sierra not being offered and this being a Silverado-only model, but I think the General needs to offer a sport model to their truck fans
  6. On a Fire Police Special Assignment yesterday - parade duty (Central NJ Anitque Tractor Club's annual tractor parade for the upcoming Burlington County Farm Fair). Only one classic truck in the parade, a 1954 Chevy 4400 flatbed:
  7. WHY WHY WHY, THat is a freakin shame! Maybe the owner was a Barney the Dinosaur super fan... That is a good one I did not think about. Looks more like the Joker's car, if he was a pimp
  8. Your little sister has quite the built-in babysitter!! Congrats on the news of the niece My daughter turned 2 on Saturday and she is the light of my life (my son is too, and he'll be 7 on August 8th).
  9. Another accident/fire police call Saturday night... 9:30-ish PM, a motorcyclist traveling on Route 130 North went through an intersection an struck a pedestrian who attempted to cross the road (investigation was trying to determine if the motorcyclist had the green light or not). Basically split the pedestrian in half; motorcyclist (a north NJ cop) was thrown from the bike. Medivac took both to the nearest trama center, no word still on either's condition. Roadway needed to be cleaned before NJDOT would reopen. Relieved at 3:00 AM (I did not see the accident scene; was on nearby traffic duty).
  10. I feel the same way, balthazar.
  11. You've done a great job keeping that Ion looking good. How's the Solstice? And I second oncblu's recommendation of a new Buick Verano; I know you're not crazy about the Chevy Cruze, right?
  12. G6 has already been used by GM
  13. Given your premise, my #1 vote is the GMC S15 pickup as it could haul more than my #2 pick - the GMC Caballero. However, if I wanted more creature comfort and a better ride/handling package, I would have choosen the Caballero as #1.
  14. People ask me how can I stand to see accident scenes, but in reality as a fire police officer I'm usually a distance away from the scene, as I'm there to redirect traffic. If I was 15 minutes earlier to the ped/MVA I posted above, I may have seen the kid lying in the street. Most of the accidents I've been on since my beginning with the fire police have not been fatal or near fatal; at most the injured are transported by the ambulance or to a medivac and I don't see them. Other, older fire police officers I've worked with, especially those in officer positions, usually get to see the scene firsthand. Bill, hopefully you haven't been too tramatized by what you saw, though I'm sure the memory will last a while.
  15. I agree with you, CanadianBacon94. I was a big fan of the '89-'98/'99 GMT-400 pickups, but was a huge fan of the '99-'02 trucks. I eventually turned around and liked the '03-'06/'07 Sierra, but it was not an initial love like with the '99 models. I feel the Chevy was given a raw deal with the '03-'06/'07 restyling, the angry Asian look just never took hold. I actually found through Craigslist an '05 GMC Sierra 11500 SLE, regular cab, sportside bed, Z71 4WD with 14k miles in bright red. Very tempted, and I wish I knew if I liked the upcoming '14 models otherwise I'd jump on the '05. Damn GM, holding back on showing the full view of what these trucks will look like
  16. From other sites I visit for info on these new full-size pickups, the new trucks will not be class leaders but will match the competition. Reports say there will be a big, unexpected surprise when the trucks are finally shown. Engines are said to be an all-new 4.3L V6 (rumored to be based off of the 6.2L V8), an updated 5.3L V8, and the 6.2L V8 - gone are the 4.8L V8 and 6.0L V8 (according to the news reports). Nothing official from GM yet, so we shall see. Also mentioned has been differentiated styling between the GMC and Chevrolet trucks, with the windshield, roof, tailgate, side mirrors, frames and engines being the only items shared between the two models (I'm sure the entire cab will be shared, but maybe different skins on the doors). This will be a new truck completely (redesign), though I'm now expecting the styling to be a little blend of the current trucks with some GMT-400 influence.
  17. Also, here's a photo from GM that shows the grille again, and this time you can see chrome on it:
  18. *Watch the video at the source: http://news.pickuptr...wing-video.html The video shows a less camo'ed 2014 Chevy Silverado grille:
  19. I like the Ford Fusion rims on the artwork version.
  20. GM's vans are a joint venture with Renault and Nissan, so I don't expect to see GM bring them over here unless there's an agreement set-up between GM & Nissan first.
  21. Though it was not a motorcycle accident, I was called out to a pedestrian vs. car (MVA) last week. The driver and the ped apparently had an arguement; the ped being a 15 y-o boy, the dirver being a male in his 40s. The driver turned his car around, got up to a good speed and struck the kid. The police had us close the roadway down for 2 hours while they conducted their invesitagtion and interviewed witnesses. The boy was medivac'ed (taken by helicopter) after our EMS crew stabilized him (head trauma and lacerations to extremities). Not a pretty seen, and the indent in the Honda Accord's windshield of the kid's head was a reminder of how dangerous a car can be to pedestrians.
  22. 6-lugs can be seen on the rims, and they are aluminum rims that look too light for HD usage. If you look at the grille close enough you can see the "G" and the "C" part where the emblem will mount. GM is infamous for it's large wheelwell openings, and they've been using carryover trailering mirrors on all of these trucks so far (all past sightings have shown the trailering mirrors). Those are definitely the 1500, or 1/2 ton, models. PickupTrucks.com just placed a new post with some shots of the HD models: http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2012/07/spied-heavier-duty-silverado-caught-testing.html
  23. While the 1948 Tucker is absolutely, hands down, my favorite automobile of all time, I am not as knowledgable as balthazar is on them (though I know my facts). In addition to seeing the controversial Tucker convertible in person (2010 AACA show in Hershey, PA), I've also seen four others: *1024/Waltz Blue - at the Gast Motor Car Collection in Lancaster, PA, various times throughout 1989-1997 *1013/Light Blue - owned by the Swigart Museum - seen at the Philadelphia Auto Show in February, 2006 and at the America on Wheels musuem this past March *Unidentified #/Silver - 1991 AACA Show in Hershey, PA; October, 1991 (I think it might have been #1022, part of the Cammack collection) *1030/Black (Preston's personal car) - Petersen Museum, Los Angeles, CA; June, 1997 - I tried to see #1051/Maroon back in 2007 or 2008 but could not connect with the owner (this is the car that resides in NJ and was built from leftover Tucker pieces; the owner passed away this January and the fate of the car has not been determined). - I also saw Rob Ida Concepts 1948 Tucker "Lower 48" at the 2011 NYIAS; while not an official Tucker, it's close enough for me. - I think I may have seen #1039/Silver, the one owned by the Smithsonian Museum back in November of '92 on a school trip, but can't remember. I was at the museum in 2009 but it was not on display. I'm hoping it comes back out soon though - I won't let that Tucker pass me by Care to see a Tucker for yourself? 24. Well, Ford is expected to bring out a new F-150 for 2015, and depending on how GM does with it's new trucks I'd expect to see them move up the timeframe to not allow GM to have too long for success The Ram 1500 is practically "all new" for 2013, though many of it's body panels haven't changed (they're copying Ford's BNG [bold new grille] strategy). Nissan is defintely not bringing out a new Titan until 2015 the earliest, and I'd imagine Toyota's Tundra will be expected around 2015 too - give or take a year. GMC needs to have a winner on their hands with the '14 models, and be able to bring out MCEs at the same time Ford & Toyota bring out new models - no more resting on their laurels for 5-7 years before MCEs or major upgrades (I know the BK had more to do with it, but the current GM trucks have been on-sale since 2006 with no major changes or even updates to body or interior designs).
