Welcome aboard! I hope you enjoy your time here

I just looked at my OnStar app and the 'Efficiency' metrics show a lifetime MPG as 19 over 4,561 miles. The Trip A metrics are showing 20 MPG over the last 98 miles driven on the current tank of gas.

What's your average driving speed? I'm averaging about 20 MPG with my Canyon, but I tend to have a heavy foot and drive between 70 & 80 MPH on the highway (where I do a majority of my driving with the Canyon). I've only once seen above 20 but I was driving like an old man at the time

Review: 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Crew Cab
GMTruckGuy74 replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
Very nicely stated, Frisky Dingo Four months in and I'm still loving my '15 Canyon Crew Cab SLT Long Bed 4WD. For those of you that have been around a while, you know my ultimate truck is the GMC Sierra. But as stated above, $100/$120 more per month was the deal killer for me. So far the wife, who by the way is against pickup trucks for people like me who don't NEED a truck but WANT a truck, is very much in love with my Canyon too. Have had adults ride in the back seat several times with no major complaints, and my kids (4 & 9 years old) love the Canyon. I'm glad to have saved myself the $100+ more in payment over a Sierra, but that doesn't mean I still don't want one eventually- 17 replies

Just curious what people are planning to give or do for their dad's on Father's Day. Or what you're hoping to get or do on Father's Day with your family.

The Tucker 48: The Greatest Car That Ever Could Have Been
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
A lot of the Tuckers are on display in museums around the country though there are many in private owners collections. If in the state of Pennsylvania, visit the Swigart Museum to see #1013 and the Tin Goose. For the ultimate Tucker exhibit, make your way to Hershey, PA to the AACA Museum to view the Dave Cammack Collection of Tucker automobilia and three Tuckers in one spot (#1001, 1022, and 1026). You won't be disappointed with the wonderful arrangement and the vast collection of Tucker materials collected by one person since the end of Preston Tucker's dream. -
The Tucker 48: The Greatest Car That Ever Could Have Been
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
So talking to my son about Tuckers today, he asked me about all the ones I've seen in person. So naturally this means I had to make a list: #XXXX: Prototype "Tin Goose", Maroon, Swigart Museum collection, seen April, 2014 @ AACA Museum fundraiser #1024: Waltz Blue, Gast Motorcars Museum, Strasburg (Lancaster), PA, seen numerous times 1989-1991 and once in 1997 #1022: Gray, AACA 1991 Fall Meet, Dave Cammack owned (also seen October 2014 @ AACA Museum) #1039: Gray, Smithsonian American History Museum, November 1992 #1030: Black, Preston's personal Tucker, seen @ Petersens Museum, Los Angeles, June 1997 #XXXX: Phantom Convertible (presumably #1052/1057), AACA 2009 Fall Meet, Hershey #1013: Gray, seen at America On Wheels Museum (March 2013) & 2014 Philadelphia Auto Show, Swigart Museum collection #XXXX: Lower '48 Tucker, seen at AACA Museum fundraisier April 2014, Rob & Joe Ida owned #1001: Maroon, AACA Tucker Museum exhibit, Dave Cammack donation, October 2014 #1026: Bronze, AACA Tucker Museum exhibit, Dave Cammack donation, October 2014 10 in total, 8 real Tuckers, one tribute car (Ida Automotive), and one rumored development car (convertible), unsubstantiated. -
It's a Tonka Mighty, so pretty big scale. Similar in size to the Mighty Tonka Dump but on a longer chassis.

The Tucker 48: The Greatest Car That Ever Could Have Been
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
That's a myth, dfelt, perpetuated by the movie. Ford donated unused Lincoln/Continental steering wheels to Preston due to the fact he couldn't get his own designed wheel produced in time, and GM donated clay for the sculptors even though clay was hard to come by. Lots of good books and sites dedicated to the true story of the 1948 Tucker. As for me, I've seen 4 of the cars in person and the phantom convertible #52/57). I wanted to see Chick's NJ Tucker, #51, that was finished post 1950-auction using sourced parts from the auction and other collectors. -
2015: Buick LaCrosse FWD 1SL (Leather) or Chevrolet Impala 2LTZ?
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
Thanks, everyone. I just wanted to see what the masses here were weighing in with. I'm not surprised to see the great comments about the Impala, but intrigued to see the support for the LaCrosse. Drew, we are in no rush at this time to replace her '08 Pontiac G6 V6 Sedan. Having the new GMC Canyon though shows her just how outdated her 7 year-old car is And the fact that when I got the Canyon we had a LaCrosse loaner overnight while my tonneau cover was installed - she put over a 100 miles on the Buick and loved every minute of it - all signs point to her to wanting a new vehicle soon. Personally, I like the luxury feel/look of the LaCrosse, but the styling of the Impala is the hands down winner here (truthfully, we both love the Cadillac XTS but that's going way above our price range). She's aware of the new 2017 LaCrosse, and with the way she wants the 2015 LaCrosse equipped and dealer inventories of said-model dwindling, waiting for the 2016 model may be the route we go. However, it all depends on the upcoming 4th of July incentive push Buick makes -
Very nice photos and a good-read article: http://www.cheatsheet.com/automobiles/the-tucker-48-the-greatest-car-that-ever-could-have-been.html/?a=viewall I'm a big enthusiast of the '48 Tucker

Had a ton of Tonkas as a child, small, medium and large sized, but never the Winnebago. Friends of mine did and I played with theirs. I look at them from time to time at toy shows, haven't caught the desire to buy one though.

*raises eyebrow* What? $2,000 for that....? Oh my. I was out briefly Tuesday afternoon ... but didn't see anything to exciting. 'Twas all boring to me. I agree!

I was thinking of you Saturday while attending the American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) National Convention & Antique Truck Show in York, PA:

Was he being buried in his car?

And I agree with your styling assessment. The Alero coupe had a late '60s/early '70s Cutlass vibe in the side profile - one of the reasons I liked the Alero. I tried to convince my step son to buy a used Alero Coupe back in 2011, but he was into the '98-'04 Buick Regal (he ended up with a '98 Regal LS with the Gran Touring suspension and bucket seats).

I had a new 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT1 Sedan, bright red with the beige leather. I leased it for two years, May 1999 until May 2001. It served me well and as far as I remember, it was trouble free. I was happy with the ride, handling, and size - though my wife got a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Sedan August of 2000 and we drove that car more

Cars of the '70s, Decade of Disaster or Delight?
GMTruckGuy74 replied to axlon's topic in The Lounge
I'm surprised I wrote that Cort and overlooked my love of GM's '73-'79 truck line. Chevy or GMC, I love them both (still would get the GMC though). I know this is about cars but GM's '70s trucks are probably loved just a tad more than their '70s cars I think -
Last Thursday I was in Livingston, NJ for a work-related conference and spotted this two-tone Laser Blue & White 2015 Chevy Colorado: Sunday while cruising the town next to mine, parked in the back of the local Meineke shop was this awesome 1956 GMC 100 pickup: SO WANT!!

Chevrolet News:Spying: Chevrolet Cruze Minus Camo
GMTruckGuy74 replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
I'm seeing the Chevy TRU 140s concept car in a lot of this Cruze design with some additional Corvette-inspired styling in the rear. Not sure how I like it just yet, but will reserve final judgement until the official release this fall. So far I will say I'm not disgusted with it, but see a lot of Asian influence in its design (a'la Honda Civic).- 36 replies
