Going to Phoenix, AZ at the end of this week
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
Wow, that car show (cruise) is not far from where I'm staying (about a 24 minute drive according to Yahoo! Maps). I'm very tempted and interested in going to that; I'll have to see what the conference schedule is and how I can reasonably get there (do you think a taxi would cost a lot?). I always enjoy a car-related event when I'm in a different state - don't get to go to many outside of the NJ-PA areas. What about the Scottsdale International Auto Museum? If I make it to the cruise show, the museum seems to be very close by. -
for a very , dfelt!! Enjoy the day to the fullest

The '95 Trans Am Coupe I bought used in spring of '98 had paint cracking on the front bumper. Was hit in the fender & headlight bucket by a deer (damaged some of the paint on the nose), so I had the front bumper repainted at my expense. This may be typical GM paint quality issue with the soft nose material. Good luck with your plans, regardless of what Pontiac you end up with

Cubie, tell me more about these Saturday cruise nights. No rental car, so walking, LRT and taxis will be the modes of transportation. I'm not 100% sure of the Saturday activities, but I know most of the day will be consumed with work-related stuff. However, if cruise nights start late and end late, I may have to come up with a good excuse to "leave" Pizzeria Bianco was a restaurant recommended to me by one of my co-workers who was in Phoenix two weeks ago. She highly recommended it, and said it was not a place to miss eating at. Do you agree? -
My boss invited the few members of my department to attend a conference in Phoenix Thursday through Sunday (11/29-12/2). I'll be staying at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel and will be at the Phoenix Convention Center for the conference. There isn't too much free time Friday-Saturday, and I arrive late morning on Thursday. Anyone here from that area, or been to that area, that can tell me if there's something I should most defintely see? I may have free time Thursday afternoon, and it looks like the members of my team may be meeting for dinner Thursday night.

Nice car, though if it were a '75 or '76 I'd be more interested. Dated a girl in high school (early '90s) whose dad owned a blue/blue '74 Caprice sedan, all original. She was embarrased to be seen in it, but I thought it was a cool car.

I'm curious about the T/A - where are all of the blue stripes? I thought that was standard on the 15th Anniversary model? It should look like this: Since this is not the ideal T/A or Firebird you want, and you have doubts about doing this swap, I would say go with your gut instincts and pass on the T/A. Continue your search for the right one or you'll never be happy.

1999 GMC Suburban 1500 SL 2WD: http://winnerford.reachlocal.com/?scid=1782856&kw=6725450&pub_cr_id=13483169053 http://southjersey.craigslist.org/ctd/3420387572.html This is probably the most basic '90s GMT-400 GMC Suburban I've ever seen. No 3rd row seat; vinyl 6-passenger seating (bench seats 1st & 2nd rows); front A/C only; AM/FM Stereo; manual windows and locks; no crusie control. Surprisingly, it has the upgraded 2WD aluminum wheels, rear hatch/tailgate (barn doors standard), and bright bodyside molding (options on the SL trim). Very low mileage for it's age - 69,xxx miles. But $6,995???? These used vehicle prices are out of control!?!? I will say I'm very interested in this SUV, though that particular shade of green is not my ideal color. Would make an interesting conversation piece down the line (how many basic '90s Suburbans do you think are still on the road in this condition?). I do want it though

GMC is ruby red and chrome.

This should have been thought of in 2009, before the brand reinvented itself after the bankrupcy. A BIG change to the tri-shield emblem now will just confuse consumers. Maybe a return to the red, white & blue coloring would be best.

I'm going to a first drive of the Encore in December. Can't wait for your review and pictures!!

First released teaser picture of the 2014 Sierra?
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in GMC Trucks
GMC made a Facebook post about this grille picture earlier today: Glad I wasn't the only one to think this was for the new '14 GMC Sierra!! -
Well, my salesman says that the dealership is expecting to receive Buick Encores late December or early January. Does anyone know if the plant is already cranking them out? I'm hoping to at least get to the Philadelphia Auto Show (January 19-26) to check out the Encore first. This way if the wife is not happy with the Encore, maybe she'll revisit the Verano. Of course she's the type that needs to test drive the car, not just sit in it to tell if she likes it I'm hating the thought of trading in the Envoy and losing a GMC from the garage, but realize I can move closer to my own goals at least a year or two earlier (a new Sierra in 2014 or 2015). Plus trading in the Envoy in January or early February means I can captialize on 4WD vehicles being in demand (snow weather) and also possibly get more trade-in value with the used supply demand from Super Storm Sandy. Add in the Auto Show incentive usually offered plus our GM Supplier Discount and it might be worth doing. Again, this is all contingent if she likes the Encore enough to want to get it (if not, she'll likely want to hold off on an automotive purchase). Next to decide - lease or finance. We're putting an average of 16,700 miles on the G6 per year; leasing with a higher mileage allowance means we can turn in the car and get into something new; purchasing means we don't have to worry about the higher mileage usage but at the end of the finance have a vehicle with high mileage an poor trade-in value. I'm leaning more towards leasing her car (daily commuter) and financing my truck (weekend family hauler). This way if she likes something else she can go for a new lease, or if she likes the Encore, lease a new one.

Some good deals on 2013 Silverados? Most of the deals are on leftover 2012 models. But don't forget Olds Guy that GM will still be making 2013 models throughout the 2013 calendar year, at least until the new plant(s) are ramped up for 2014 production. There will definitely be great sales incentives on the hoods of remaining '13 Silverados (btw, may I suggest a Sierra ) come spring/summer 2013.

Now that you posted a picture of the '13 Acadia Denali, you've got me wondering if the picture above is of the Acadia and not the '14 Sierra I assumed the black "bars" was covering more of the truck than they wanted to show. If it is the Sierra Denali, then it shares a very similar grille design/shape/style with the Acadia -
That was posted on GMC's Facebook page today. Looks like it could be the '14 Sierra Denali grille.
