  2. Sounds like someone's doin' some thinking
  3. Exactly my sentiments with regards to the Hankook tires. The tire dealer I went to almost refused to sell me new tires! He said there was plenty of life left in them and he'd be doing me wrong by selling me a new set of tires without telling me. I appreciated his honesty but told him the performance of those tires on any surface other than dry was horrible and I could no longer stand it. He understood and so far the Michelin's have performed quite well.
  4. The only thing different (visually) with today's work trucks is that they have gray plastic instead of white painted metal
  5. I think we'll see the SUVs next, followed by the HDs. I'm guessing some truck product will be revealed in Chicago, as that is typically the "truck" show for GM. So maybe SUVs at Chicago and HDs at New York?
  6. That Escalade ESV (Platinum?) belongs to the North American president of my pharmaceutical company. He also has a black 2011 Camaro SS/RS convertible (red leather interior) and I believe a Mercedes sedan. The last president was also a Cadillac man, having a CTS and an Escalade ESV among 3 other vehicles (1 a Mercedes too). Both men are European sent from our Denmark HQ; they both have an affinity for Cadillacs
  7. *In case anyone cares 4 years, 5 months, and 22 days since Saturday, June 28, 2008, my wife's 2008 Pontiac G6 V6 Sedan has now turned 75,000 miles. We found it at the dealer on Thursday, June 26, 2008 with 2 miles on the odometer and then 4 miles at delivery (test drive). Today as I dropped my wife off at her buidling, the car turned 75,002 miles. It has been a very good car in that time period. Basic maintenace and car washes have been the mantra, with only a couple of issues to deal with. Warranty work included tightening the right rear door hinge screws and replacing a small piece of A-pillar trim that became loose - both two years after taking delivery, and the current transmission cable binding recall (that we suffered with, and required a call to Pontiac Roadside Assistance for a tow to the dealership this past month). Out-of-pocket expenses include me replacing the factory tires - Hankook Optimas - that I was not happy with at 41,674 miles with Michelin Energy Saver A/S tires, had all four brake pads replaced and rotors resurfaced in March of this year, and replaced one taillight bulb last spring and the license plate bulb this past fall. There is one pending warranty issue (GMPP bumper-to-bumper warranty for another ~2 years or 100k miles) involving the left rear door lock mechinism sticking (minor annoyance). Other than that it has been a very reliable and low-cost maintenance daily driver. The plan is to keep the car at least until summer of 2014. I'm wondering what the update report will look like then?
  8. Sorry they're smallish... they were taken with my Droid cell camera. I plan to go back and visit them with my digital camera and will see if they will pull it out of the garage for some outdoor shots. You can't imagine how excited I got when I peeked in the garage door window to see what was parked in the bay
  9. I really like those rims!
  10. Here's the SLE model (Extened Cab, 2WD): Bench Seat Interior: Dash/Gauge Cluster:

  12. Well, I'm going out on a limb here and say that the reason there's not two dashes in the K2xxx pickup is because the SUVs will have their own, more car-like, designed dash (a modern take of the current uplevel dash). I always thought it would have been better for GM to use the "basic" dash in all GMT-900 pickups (make it more uplevel looking in the SLT/Denali/LTZ models) and kept the uplevel dash for the SUVs to differentiate the two products more. I'll also say that the Denali/High Country models may use the SUV interior in the pickups to offer the luxury-look there. We'll see if I'm right sometime in 2013
  13. I would not say terrible, but soft. The Tahoe/Suburban won out in the GMT-900 phase for sure. The SLE Yukon looks the worst, with the smaller wheels and rims; the SLT looks better with the larger rims/tires and added chrome; the Denali is a handsome vehicle but the softness of the frontend is still it's downfall:
  14. Originally, the new Escalade was to debit in January of 2014; the other SUVs (Tahoe, Suburban, Yukons) were to debut in the fall of 2013. I would say that the Escalade will either be a mid-2104 model or a very early 2015 model.
  15. Yup, 2000 was the last year a GMT-400 2500 and 3500 pickup was available; the heavy duty GMT-800 2500 & 3500's weren't ready until 2000 along with the SUVs. When I sold B-P-G in '99-'00, we had a GMT-400 2000 GMC Sierra 3500 regular cab long bed 4WD last until the end of the year. The guy who bought it owned a pizza shop and traded it in a year later for the newer version. It was a tough sell new and if I recall correctly (when I was buying my '01 Sonoma), it was a tough sell used too.
  16. Here's the black/gray interior I desire, just not in leather (SLT trim):

  18. I was with the fire police last night for a special holiday assignment in Cookstown, NJ (New Egypt/Wrightstown areas). The Cookstown Fire Department is an original owner of a 17,000 mile 1971 Chevrolet K-20 Custom Deluxe 4x4 stepside pickup (built May 1971 per the GM door sticker):
  19. Four stars - doesn't that denote a Bonneville? I thought three-stars were the Star Chiefs?

  21. I really want a regular cab, long bed Sierra - have for a long time. If I were able to keep the G6 as a 3rd vehicle, I would seriously consider the regular cab. However, seeing as how my new vehicle will be used for family hauling duty, the crew cab is the best overall. Plus I'll likely need the G6 as a trade-in or sell it outright and use the profits for a downpayment to make this purchase happen (final payoff of the G6 is spring of 2014).
  22. No yet, as full information isn't out. I'm really diggin' the Sonoma Red for 2013, and it looks great on the picture posted above (from the GMC.com website). Likely it will be the SLE package, 4WD (not sure if Z71 will be added), and Crew Cab. I've got to see the way the two bed lengths look in person (5.5 & 6.5) before I can decide which way to go there (leaning towards the 6.5 bed at this point). Definitely the black/gray interior, not feeling the all-black nor brown/tan (Envoy is all black, wife's G6 is black/tan). Bench seat is okay as long as the storage spaces return (as how they are on the current models).
