  1. By the way, the Silverado I posted above is the first 4.3L V6 model I've seen on the lot. I have a picture of the window sticker that does not denote the 5.3L V8 upgrade:
  2. That seems to be a 1954 model, as the 1955 First Series had new side emblems:
  3. Drove through my local Chevy dealer's backlot yesterday and spotted my first K2xxx Double Cab ('14 Silverado 1500 LT 2WD Double Cab):
  4. Snickers
  5. Pigeon poop
  6. for a very Z!!
  7. I love this picture that I found here today:
  8. buck shot
  9. I hope all of you had a great birthday!!
  10. Tomato Juice
  11. Though technically not a true "spotting", I attended the 2013 Firehouse Expo in Baltimore on Friday and Chevy had a 2014 Silverado display there. Since crew cab 1500s are the only pickups currently available, that was all that was on display for people to sit in. However, there were numerous ads and photos posted around the display space, including this one of a regular cab pickup: GM has not shown too much of the regular cab models yet. I was pleasantly surprised to see this photo
  12. I'm a big fan of the current Ford Taurus and I think the new Impala, once i get some seat time in one, will replace that car as my new favorite. I saw a beautiful new '14 Impala LTZ in the dark metallic blue in Baltimore yesterday and I was all Chevy/GM definitely has a winner on their hands with this car.
  13. While I am a fan of the GMC COE of all years, I really like the look of the 1937 & 1938 models due to the Art Deco styling:
  14. They're wrong about the year though. It's a '41-'46 GMC and not a '40. Here's what a '40 COE looks like:
  15. Wow! What a sweet looking piece of GMC advertising. A large GMC dealer should buy it and make a permanent display inside of their showroom for it. I love the fact they took a short wheelbase COE (probably a tractor-cab at one point in its life) and made it into an awesome looking stakebed.
  16. Thanks for this article, dfelt! It sounds like you had a great day with GM
  17. Friday night I attended a state fire police meeting held at one of the North Brunswick, NJ fire departments. Parked outside is their retired 1979 Chevrolet (Pierce equipped) K30 Custom Deluxe chasis/cab. It sees parade duty and local community events.
  18. Don't you mean Cracker Jack boxes? That's what I've heard them called at truck shows I've attended. I love seeing those and the '70s Astro day cabs at truck shows.
  19. Gotta disagree with you there, black-knight. I find that "concept" a lame attempt at trying to breathe new life into an old model. The headlights alone look like Chinese-knockoffs bought from eBay
  20. Yesterday I was in Point Pleasant Beach (NJ) for a work off-site meeting. Heading home on Route 34 I spotted my first owner driven 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab SLE in bright red and finally spotted my first NJ State Police Caprice PPV, a black 9C3 non-marked unit, in action on Route I-195 East. This is the first actual police Caprice PPV I've seen in NJ.
  21. vrooom!
  22. I'm really excited about this launch. If done right, and by that I mean the GMC looks really good, it may sway me from a Sierra purchase. I miss my '01 GMC Sonoma but need something larger than that and a tad bit bigger than the recent Canyon model. It looks like from the pictures the new Canyon will gain some added space, and it looks like a longer bed will be available too. I'm in no rush for a new truck, though I really want a 2014 Sierra! I can be patient until about this time next year
  23. Thanks, ocnblu! I've seen that picture before, but it's always a treat to see it again. I like the dealership sign in the background. Those were the '60s dealership signs before GM adopted the "Signs of Leadership" style in 1969/1970 that are still in use today (in slightly modified/updated form). A sign like the one pictured, smaller though and likely an interior hanging sign, was for sale on eBay earlier this year for around $1k.
