I agree that a mid-size, off-road capable SUV makes more sense first. Consider that RAM has no SUV - the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are not RAM-branded but are mid-size offerings and at least the Jeep GC has off-road capability - Ford has moved away from this market too, not sure how off-road capable the Expedition is and the Explorer features some off-road tech (though I doubt many go off-road much). If Toyota keeps the 4Runner formula the same and does not change like Nissan did with the Pathfinder (CUV instead of SUV), it's a small market. I think that there are plenty of GMT-360 (Envoy/TrailBlazer) and H3 owners that want to get a new off-road capable mid-size SUV that won't consider the mid-size CUV options that already exist in the marketplace. I don't know how many full-size buyers there are (Hummer H2 owners may or may not want a replacement vehicle), but options are always good.

Happy Fall 2013!! Why does that B$t%&h Barbie get all the cool toys first? FINALLY! I'm starting to see some Caprice PPVs in service near me (NJ Transit Police/Rail Line): Was near a small car show on Saturday, these two were my favorites:

So my salesman emailed me back on the Summit White 2500HD SLE... with a MSRP $47,855, factoring in the GM Supplier discount and all applicable incentives (including the $3,000 rebate instead of low interest rate), sales price would be $38,588 (not including tax & tags). Almost $9,300 off. I could forgo the $3k rebate for 0% @ 60 mos or 0.9% @ 72 mos financing. Not sure what I want to do just yet. I think I'm leaning more towards the '14 1500 model more. Time will tell!

Thanks, Bill I just wanted to be sure he was alright. No posts for almost two months, that's not like him (though I understand the need for some posters to take a break from a forum).

Has anyone had any contact with Camino LS6 (Bob)? He was last active on July 24, 2013 in the morning. I sent him a PM at the end of August but didn't receive a response. I hope he's just busy with life and all and nothing bad has happened.

I hear you, jwbouch. Thanks for the input on the 6.0L V8 MPG/FE. I've been patient this long, what's another few months until the time is ideal to go for a '14 1500? And I agree, Sonoma Red Metallic is the leading color choice for me:

W-bodies of the late '80s and early '90s used those type of toggle switches (Pontiac Grand Prix's come to mind).

Hahaha, ocnblu!! I'm not worried what some drive at the fire house, just making a note that there are others that use a 3/4 ton as their daily driver without towing or hauling much. I've loved the look of the 2500/3500HD's when they restyled them for 2010/2011. I much preferred the HD's to the 1500 (they looked "small" in comparison). However, the 2014 1500s have leveled the playing ground and I do love the interior of the all-new Sierra. Like ocnblu stated, the HDs have such a manly truck look to them over the same year 1500. caddycruiser hits on the point that I fear - extra fuel usage with the 6.0L V8 (over the more fuel efficient new 5.3L EcoTec V8) and weight of the heavier truck will make this an expensive deal in the long-run. My wife is the culprit here because she had to tell me she likes the current 2500HD look over the new 2014 1500 look. She asked me if I would still be happy with the '13 a year from now or will I be sorry I didn't wait longer to make a '14 purchase? (boy does she know me!) I really love the new interior of the '14 much more than the '13 interior and the '14s come standard with some options I wouldn't be getting on a leftover '13 HD. Of course if I'm patient the 2500HD retains its current look into 2014 until the new HD is released, so I'll assume that GM will put incentives on the '14s to move them once the '15s start arriving in the spring (assumption of that - GM hasn't said when the all-new HDs go on sale but rumor has them being revealed next week at the Texas State Fair).

Yeah, it would fit in my driveway but not my garage. Same thing with a 2014 Sierra 1500 crew cab. I found on both dealer's websites the window sticker link; here are the extra options on the SLE 2500HD Sierras: Summit White 2500HD SLE: Sonoma Red 2500HD SLE: Anyone with any knowledge of the 2500HD's 6.0L V8 - power, performance, and fuel economy? I know I was extremely happy with the power, performance and MPG of the new 5.3L EcoTec V8 in the '14 Sierra 1500 SLT I drove two months ago. Part of me thinks the 2500HD is just too much "truck" for me, and the other part thinks the 2500HD is just one helluva cool looking truck. There are several volunteers at my fire station that have 3/4 ton trucks wihout the constant need for such truck (one of them owns a very cool '13 Dodge 2500 Power Wagon, while another has a Regular Cab Super Duty F-250 with a mild lift kit and big ass all-terrain tires). I guess I'm looking for reasons why I should hold off on a 2013 2500HD and wait a little while longer for a 2014 1500.

Thanks for your input, dfelt. Both of these SLE-trimmed Z71 4WD 2500HD trucks sticker (MSRP) at $47k and I know dealers are advertising easily $8k off. I know better than to trust those ads, so it would be better to actually have the dealer run me the numbers using my GM Supplier discount. I prefer the Sonoma Red Metallic one, though that dealer doesn't list the equipment the same way as my selling dealer does (the white one) so I can't be sure it has the minimum equipment I want. I have a refrigerator white Envoy now and my wife's car is White Diamond Metallic Tricoat, so I really don't want white again. If money were more available, I'd love to go with this 2013 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLT Z71 4WD Crew Cab (MSRP $52K) But going up another $5k in options/trim package is not ideal in any situation for me. However I'd really like the SLT model

Not that I'm ready to be in the market for a new truck right now, but two Sundays ago the wife and I went to a GMC dealership so I could look at some of the new 2014 Sierras they had. While I was driving around the lot soaking up the new '14s, my wife was more impressed with the 2013 2500HD Sierra crew cab models. Not that I need the capabilities of a 3/4 ton truck (nor really the 1/2 ton either), but I've always admired this generation of 2500HD/3500HD Sierra. I am more impressed with the ride & interior of the new 2014 models, but can you provide me with reasons/opinions on why I shouldn't consider a 2500HD? For $hits and giggles, here are two I've looked at online:
-
Well, she's only 2 so there's plenty of time to get use to her new brother Please tell me his first ride to home was in the Pontiac!

Congrats! As a father of three, my life couldn't be any better without them as a major part of it. How's the big sister doing with your new addition to the family?

GM News: Revealed! Your 2015 GM Full Size SUV Lineup
GMTruckGuy74 replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
If you don't follow the trucks of GM, you may not notice the changes. The GM full-size SUV has always been a two-box design since their introduction in the mid-'30s (1935 Chevy, 1937 GMC > Suburban). Even the Chevy Blazer (1969)/GMC Jimmy (1970) was of the two-box design. No where in the world do the new 2015 models contain any of the style of the GMT-900 styling!! Unless you are talking about the two-box design. Saying that these new 2015 SUVs look like their 1994 counterparts is like saying that the the 2014 Impala looks like it's 2000 version becuase they both share the three-box design. 1995: 2000: 2010: 2015: -
GM News: Revealed! Your 2015 GM Full Size SUV Lineup

That would explain the chunkyness I'm seeing. Did you get any direct rear shots of the Tahoe? Any of this wiper assembly? Where was the Yukon revealed? Was it at a media event like the Tahoe/Suburban? -

Drew - I want to take your word, but I can't get over the headlight design from any of the pictures I've seen posted online (not just the official GM Media ones). I like the grille style but it appears to slope too much. I will reserve final judgement until I see these in person. Cubical - I found a side profile picture of the GMC Yukon Denali online. The roofline starts out at a normal shape in the front but as it goes back it gains "weight", looks chunky especially in the rear roof spoiler. I can see where the extended legroom is coming from; it looks like they shortened the front doors (as on the Sierra/Silverado) but also made the rear doors longer, pushing the C-pillar back more than the current version. -

Someone on the Chevy Truck styling team is a fan of Joe Dirt and his pork chop sideburns: Still not liking that Ford-inspired design trait in the headlight design, and the sloping, CUV-like frontend appearance (too Traverse-inspired for my tastes). Based on photos alone my vote goes to GMC (which I could not say with the GMT-900 Yukon - the Tahoe won hands down there). Something about the rear roof design - too chunky - is not catching my fancy either (likely same with the Yukon, though I don't have too many large format pics of that to see). I think I would go with the Sierra over the Yukon, though my wife is pushing in the opposite direction. And for once, I prefer the short wheelbase models (Tahoe/Yukon) over the long wheelbase ones (Suburban/Yukon XL). At least from the pictures - can't wait to see these in person. -

I love the interior of the new full-size SUVs, glad they didn't use the pickup's dash. That dash is fine for a work-related vehicle, but the SUVs deserve an upscale style and they definitely got it. As for exterior design, the Tahoe/Suburban headlight design ruins it for me. I would take the GMC Yukon this round without a doubt. I think I prefer the Sierra over the new Yukon, but I'll wait until I see the Yukon in person to make the final decision. Now I just need to see the new GMC Canyon and I'll decide what my new ride will be in mid-to-late 2014 or early 2015. -
Go here to view photos of the recently revealed 2015 GMC Yukon Denali and GMC Yukon XL SLT.
