NJ tried doing this but after 3-4 years it stopped. I can't tell you how many people put the stickers in the wrong places We still had to have the state inspection sticker displayed in the lower right (looking at the driver) corner of the windshield, this little sticker related to the expiration of the registration card we must also have in NJ. The theory was that all a cop had to do was look at your rear license plate to see if you were still valid with your registration. I think they were too small to see far away and if pulled over to verify the sticker they'd just end up asking for the registration card anyway.

Discussing with some friends lately new vehicles. Many are sticking to the type of vehicle that they currently have now (CUVs, pickups, sedans, etc). So we got on the topic of what vehicle would interest you that is outside of your norm but would be an appropriate daily driver to replace the type of vehicle that you currently own. This is not a "what ultimate vehicle would you choose if money were no issue" scenario. It's a scenario where you don't get the vehicle you prefer; for me that means no pickup or SUV. So I'll start this off. If I were buying a vehicle today outside of a pickup or SUV, I would choose: 1) 2014 Chevrolet Impala - I'm smitten by this new Impala. I will admit at introduction last year not really being all into it, but once it made it's way to the public I found it's style and design very intriguing. This is one car I could see myself owning outside of a pickup or SUV. 2) Buick Verano - Again, another car I'm smitten with. Smaller than I'm comfortable with, but an attractive design with a great interior and fuel economy to boot. Those are my two. What are yours?

Quite honestly, the V6 should suffice many of the buyers out there that are replacing their CUV or sedan with the pickup aas their daily driver. The V8 is really needed for the person that will be hauling loads and towing trailers (need the extra torque and HP from a V8). Look at how many Ecoboost V6 F150s are being sold the past two years as proof that people will buy a double or crew cab 4WD pickup with a V6 engine! Personally I would not give up the opportunity to own a V8 powered pickup, but I am interested in test driving a new Sierra with the 4.3L V6 EcoTec engine out of curiousity.

If th hood had a slight slope to it, it might make the cab not look as small. But with the boxy styling (a little retro '80s/'90s GM full-size), it makes the cab look smaller with the raked windshield. I'd still rock a regular cab, long bed Z71 4WD

Ford did that in 1997, dfelt. It was very polarizing for the time; GM did a similar move 3 years earlier with the 1994 S-series lineup (GMC Sonoma/Chevy S10). I think it was more accepted on the smaller trucks than the full-sizes, seeing as how "truck guys" like their mini-Big Rig look for their full size pickup. Drew, I get your point. There's so much "body" on the new trucks that the cabs do look out of place (almost like a toy Tonka Dump truck - lots of body, little cab). With the aerodynamics needed for fuel efficiency, the windshield is more raked than ever with the new 2014 models (expect Ford and others to follow). However, these views are from pictures posted on the Internet - the two regular cab, long bed 2014 Sierras I've seen in person looked very similar to their outgoing 2013 models that it makes little difference to me (and I'm the target market for this product).

Good catch, Bill! I will state though the front bumper sans fog lights is way too bulky on the Silverado. That picture reminds me of the 2007-2010 Chevy Silverado models that had the chunky, three-piece bumper people disliked. I'll stick with the all-new Sierra HD lineup over the Chevy again Here's the current (2013) GMC Sierra 2500 HD regular cab for comparison to the blue 2015 Chevy 2500 HD:

From other places I've been reading this article at, some feel this is a way for GM to force dealers to order the 4.3L V6 EcoTec engine. It appears many dealers are focusing only on the 5.3L V8 EcoTec engine for their trucks, leaving the V6 for the base, regular cab, 2WD work-truck models. As one dealer posted, they had an allocation for 10 Silverado Crew Cabs but could only order 8 of them with the V8. Seems GM wants the dealers to start ordering more crew & double cab models with the new V6.

Don't worry, ocnblu, I still like these trucks You're not alone! My preference is more to the Regular Cab, Long Bed 4x4 model, but to us ol' time truck fans there's nothing like a "shortie"

Tucker: The Man and His Dream; started my love affair with what I consider my ultimate favorite car - the 1948 Tucker (trivia: the car is not known as the Tucker Torpedo as it is rumored).

A little disappointed that GM/GMC didn't bring out new rims for the 2015 models, I guess the tires are not larger than the 2011-2014 models? The 1500 models tires are 0.5 inches wider and necessitated new rims. The whole frontend of the HDs is new when compared to the 1500 models (lower airdam, fenders & headlights look to be the only shared parts between the light & heavy duty trucks). I love the bumper, foglamps & grille - so masculine in style. I like the Silverado HD lineup but not nearly as much as the Sierra.

dfelt, I know that the spray-in bedliner is a factory option on the 1500 models, so I would assume that the same is true for the 2500/3500HDs. I'm sure painted beds are all standard, as there are options for the line-x, bed mat, bedliner, etc. from GM Accessories.

Don't forget the Chinese connection. The Chinese market is fond of Buicks, have been for decades. Pontiac had no brand awareness there, so no way was GM going to rebadge Opels as Pontiacs in the North American marketplace. Buick was suppose to be GM's middle ground, but I know a lot of former Pontiac people that have left GM and went to Dodge for their new vehicle purchase (not to Chevy and not to Buick).

Seems to last a while through rain and car washes too. There are a lot of products out there, it will depend on your brand preference. Also, from what I know true off-roaders don't like large vehicles - SUVs or pickups - for off-roading (they tend to go with smaller vehicles to handle narrow trails). But I'm sure the outdoorsman who wants to camping/fishing/hunting will want the comfort of a larger vehicle. GM should continue to offer the Z71 Off-Road package/trim since it is not a heavily modified vehicle program (like the Ford Raptor or RAM Power Wagon) that makes the regular 4WD SUV more capable off-road.
