  1. If it was a two-door HHR panel, then I'd definitely be interested in it
  2. You'd think so... since that's where my baby will be made sometime this year (SKY) you'd think I could take the short hour or so drive down there and see the plant in operation. But NO... they aren't allowing tours at this time and don't see it in the forseeable future
  3. All right Bimmer!!! The first post is definitely the current (GMT800) Sierra Crew Cab 1500. The one pictured in your post is definitely something different. Also notice the two little "boxes" that say YUKON and I'm guessing YUKON XL. I think those dual-roundtable displays are for the new SUVs and not the new pickups [EDIT: after looking at the pic again, I'm beginning to think the GMC pictured is either a Yukon or Yukon XL.
  4. I knew I saw this design somewhere else, I just couldn't figure it out. GM went back and based the frontend on the '98-'00 GMC Yukon Denali (basically which the Escalade was a badge job of). You definitely need to see it in person to appreciate it, but I do think the Tahoe/Suburban frontend design is crisper.
  5. Went to the Philly Auto Show tonight sans the wife (little one's sick, so she stayed home with him). She knows I've been waiting for this show to arrive, so tonight around 5PM me and my 11-year old (Anthony) headed over to Philly to check out the show. Good thing is she still wants to go, so we'll all be heading over again next weekend Anyway, I was able to sit in the only SKY they had there (a black one). I do have two pics to prove it, but to not get anyone in trouble, I can't post them until the show ends next weekend. It was a pre-production model with 26 miles on the clock. Now the funny thing about this was this happened to me last year. I was able to get myself a 30 second seat in the showcar SKY last year, and about a 45 second seat in this year's pre-production. Hoepfully I won't have to worry about getting into the seat next year, as I should have my own well before next February! More about the SKY: the presenter stated that dealers will have their first one in March for customers to see and possibly test-drive (depends on how the dealer sets it up). I know for a fact that on January 9th Saturn dealers received an image for them to use to order their demo model. Last summer Saturn sent to potential SKY customers a "count-down to Spring" calendar. It's big day? MARCH 20th (first day of Spring). Coincidence??? Details are still sketchy, so it's still a "wait and see" type of thing. Btw, I've decided to go with the Silver Graphite (Solstice's SLY) exterior and the Black & Red leather interior. Pontiac was nice and had a SLY Solstice on display just for me to see the color in person
  6. No, the ruby red & chrome "G-M-C" letters ARE their symbol and I agree with you that it should be prominently placed in the middle of the tailgate on ALL suv's and trucks. GMC stopperd this after '91 - basically it was a cost-cutting measure and simplified the rear of their trucks by going to smaller emblems. When I leased an '01 Sonoma Highrider, I bought a larger "GMC" emblem from the '89-'91 Suburban/Jimmy models and mounted it in the middle of my tailgate. I even sent GMC a picture telling them to start doing that again!!! Maybe the new 2007 Sierras will do it, who knows? If Cadillac can put the dinner plate-sized emblem on the back of the Escalade, then why doesn't GMC show-off their pride too?
  7. This is the color combination I'm going to order on my SKY. No, not yet. Josh must have seen one of the engineering cars or an executive car pool vehicle (plenty of them have been spotted or pictured in the Detroit suburbs since late December). I'm still waiting for my image to become available (there's a constraint on the auto trans - it's whats holding up my purchase/order). Saturn dealers are all receiving one for STOCK, to be used as test-drive vehicles and so that customers can order their own. Dealers were given their images back around January 6th - those still have not been made yet. Guesses and rumors abound on the next date images will be sent to dealers. I'm patiently waiting, but it's getting harder and harder every day
  8. You're a funny guy reg! If she didn't have such a long cmmute to work, it probably would be that she'd have HER car and I'd have MINE. But we share the two vehicles to balance the miles (especially since I prefer leasing). So I respect that she has to be comfortable too in teh vehicles we purchase. But thanks for the ribbing anyway
  9. So is Feb 11th still the official C&G Philly Auto Show Day? I think I will go to meet with everyone - I think it will be fun! I just need to check with the wife first (I've got that 6-month old at home, so hopefully she won't be mad!). Where is everyone meeting at and at what time?
  10. Well, thanks to everyone that gave their suggestion(s) on what to consider. Here's what I intend to look at, with or without the wife's consent 1. Pontiac G6 GTP Sedan (really interested in trunk space) 2. Buick LaCrosse CXS 3. Pontiac Torrent AWD 4. Saturn VUE Redline AWD 5. (really dreaming here) GMC Canyon Crew Cab SLE 4WD (wife will not drive a p/u ) Of course I'll be looking at everything GM has to offer, so maybe something else will come into consideration. I'd like to consider the Caddy CTS, but not sure if the lease price will be too high. I'll look at the Saab's, but the wife is not into wagons. I'm tempted to wait for the Saturn AURA, but with the current GM Card incentives set to expire on March 31st, it's unfortunately not in the running. Anyway, I'll update next week after I go to the Philly Auto Show this weekend.
  11. What reason did GM pull this ad for Because it appeared that the driver was waiting for someone to come along to race. GM did not want to promote illegal street racing. what year was it 1968 and what issue of what magazine was it posted in before it was pulled? Either MotorTrend or Car and Driver
  12. Wow... a new LaCrosse model may be coming out and this topic has just about died off. No news? No updates? Anybody have anything???? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that at the Chicago or New York shows Buick will show the LaCrosse Super.
  13. Now that the great-looking-but-way-overpriced SSR is done with, I can only hope GM has it in them to reintroduce the Chevy El Camino and GMC Caballero/Sprint (btw, give a new name for the GMC please?).
  14. But being serious now, I've only owned (out of this list) a 1978 Camaro LT with the 305 V8. I've only owned a total of three Chevies - a '92 Cavalier Z24 during college, the '04 Malibu LT now, and the '78 Camaro before the Cavalier during high school. I'm like Fly, I prefer the other brands GM offers more. The exceptions - most older/pre-'72 vehicles, the SSR, the HHR, and El Caminos (I always wanted a '78 to '87 El Camino).
  15. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Let me update you on what the wife has already said NO to: 1. Impala (any model) 2. HHR (she doesn't like retro) We've looked at and sat in both of those vehicles recently... she thinks Chevies are too plain (I tend to agree, however I do like the HHR). She wants me to keep the Malibu because it will be one less car payment (hahaha - she doesn't know me). However, I'm so bored with it. I told her I want something that doesn't look like an appliance. It's a great car, it just doesn't inspire me to drive it (now the Envoy, I can't wait to get in the driver's seat!). As for the SKY, it's coming as soon as the auto trans constraint is removed and my image comes along. I was hoping that just knowing that I'm getting the SKY would cure my insatiable appetite for a new car to replace the Malibu. But the 'bu just doesn't inspire me, nor does it make me happy (if you're going to pay the monthly payment, at least love what you;re paying for, right?). I do like the G6 GTP Sedan, but the trunk looks a little small, especially for the larger stroller we have (I'll check it out Saturday at teh Philly Auto Show though). I wish I knew when the AURA is going to actually be on the lots; maybe I could hold off for it (however, that GMCard $2000 top-off expires 3/31 and it's the driving force right now, along with whatever Philly Auto Show cash incentive <usually $500> GM offers in February). LaCrosse is not out of the picture, as I think a CXS would be nice (however, I need to start looking at lease prices to make sure it's in the range --> my $37,8xx Envoy SLT was really in my range, thanks to the GMCard earnings I had + the GM Employee Discount last August!). Anyway, keep the suggestions coming - they will give me something to look at the show Saturday. Surprisingly, I thought someone would have suggested either the VUE/Torrent/Equinox!!!
  16. I bought mine about a month ago (same color blue, although I could have gotten yellow --> yuk!) at Kay-Bee toy store at the mall for $6.99.
  17. Okay people... I'm tired of the Malibu already. I usually lease, however the wife talked me into financing. I've had the car 26 months already (on a 60-month payment loan). I know I'll probaly not be happy when dealing with trade-in values, but I want to get back into leasing and want a new car other than the Malibu. Going to the Philly Auto Show next weekend witht he wife to find out what might possibly be the next vehicle. So I'm going to make this fun and ask all of you C&Gers what I should get, or at least look into. Here are my guidelines: 1. Must be a GM vehicle 2. Must be a four door (hey, I have an 11 y-o and a 6 month old!) 3. Must be something the wife won't mind driving (she does a 32 mile one way trip to work, so we have to rotate the use of our two vehicles to keep mileage in check) 4. Price must be realistic (this may be hard to figure out, since lease prices vary upon residency location, lease programs, etc. I'd love a Lucerne CXL, but think the lease will be too high) 5. Fuel effiency should be good (the Malibu gives us a combined 26-28 MPG; we already have an Envoy, so the nev vehicle will have to be a little better than the Envoy) I have two vehicles in mind (one I like, the other the wife likes), but I won't say what they are b/c it makes this topic useless. So give me your best suggestions, and maybe it will end up in the driveway in two weeks!
  18. Although I know that it was to be a short production run, I'm said to see such a unique vehicle go. A neighbor of mine has a red one that he drives on occasion. I love seeing them on the road too, which isn't often. A few of my local Chevy dealers have already stopped carrying them, as they had a hard time selling many of the '04s and '05s (believe it or not, one dealer I go to for service actually had in September one of both years NEW, in addition to an '06!). I think the price kept many people away. I would love to own an '06 in the smoking asphalt & silver two-tone, but a quick search on GMBuyPower in my area showed none available for under $46k
  19. Well, I guess you could always go in and custom order your vehicle. Dealers care only about what will make them the most profit, hence the addition of leahter seats, entertainment systems and other junk some customers don't want. Back in 2001 I wanted a Sonoma Highrider in Dark Blue. No one had any in that color with a couple of the options I wanted, so I asked the dealer to order it for me. That was the end of March and by the end of May I had my truck. Patience paid off! Some people just can't wait for what they want.
  20. Well, congrats from another recent father here. My little guy will be 6 months old on Feb 8th, and all I can say is what a joy those six months have been. The naming process was one of the hardest processes during her pregnancy. Being a teacher, I know MANY kids and when the wife would make a suggestion it would be hard because I already know X-many kids wuth that name, or on the flip-side I'd know a kid who was a real jerk with that name. Good luck to you on your name hunt!
  21. My wife's company entitles us to the GM Supplier pricing, and there is a web site I can access to find out GMS pricing. Is there a web site fpr GM EMPLOYEE pricing that I can access? If so, what is the address? I'm curious to find out the difference between GM Supplier and GM Employee pricing on certain vehicles. Any help?
  22. It's okay BV... I'm not one of the populars around here anyway!
  23. I always though Superbowl Sunday would be the day to go... it's not bad after 5/6PM, b/c everyone pretty much leaves to go home and watch the game. Of course the show ends earlier that day, so it doesn't really pay unless you plan to spend the entire day there. What day during the week are you guys planning on going? Maybe I can play hookie from work and meet up - it would be nice to meet some C&G people in person... plus you can all see my car there (Saturn SKY) and tell me how lucky I am to be getting one!!! But seriously, what day are you planning?
  24. Congrats on the "new to you" Pontiac. I love the '04+ GTO's... just wish the trunk was able to hold our stroller, as I would be inclined to really consider one as my toy. Actually tonight I made my bi-weekly trip to the right-around-the corner (very local, but small) Pontiac/GMC/Buick dealer and they still have their two '05 GTO's (black & cyclone gray) and now have an impulse blue '06. That cyclone gray has caught my eye many times... I could probably get it if I wanted, but that would mean no SKY. And I really like the SKY Anyway, good luck with yours and keep us informed on how much you're enjoying it!
  25. Yup, Feb 4-12... here's the web site if you want to know more info: Philadelphia International Auto Show None of my local dealers get free tickets for the public anymore. Even when I worked for a dealership back in 2000 that is in the Philadelphia market, they no longer got free tickets. I'll check with both the Pontiac/GMC dealership we leased our Envoy from and the Saturn dealership I'm working with to get my SKY to see if either of them have free tickets to give me
