When I was employed in the business world, I worled many of my jobs in cubes. Then when I got into teaching, I'd usually have a desk in my department's office and/or a desk in my classroom. The new teaching job I took in November (Cooperative Marketing Education Teacher/Coordinator) has blessed me with my very own office - the first in my working life (I'm 31). I enjoy the fact I can tell people I meet I have my own office & phone extension - it's my own little getaway from the rest of the school.

I had a '92 Cavalier Z24 from May of '94 until August '00. Of course it had to be traded in as a down payment on the new car at the time. However, I wish I had the money to keep it - it had a bulletproof engine & transmission, was still in great shape for being an eight year old car, and even though I was owner #2 (wife was owner #3), it was first owned by my cousin who only put 7,000 miles on it in the 20 months she owned it. It wassn't the greatest car, but I sure do have fond memories of the 6 years I owned it (including the wife's two years of ownership). So I say keep the car, put the $$$ into it to make it last, buy that house and then get yourself a new car. I know before we bought our first place together I was told this advice many times, even if I didn't want to listen to it. But now that I'm a little wiser and older, I can say that advice is true. If it's a good car, keep it and buy that house. Your credit will be better when you go for that new car aferwards anyway!

#4 is the 1955 Tucker Carioca, the sports car Preston Tucker envisioned in Brazil. Here's the proof: Tucker moved to Brazil sometime shortly after the trial in 1950; he later died of lung cancer there in 1956. While this car was never built (although that picture sure does seem like one was built), it was his second dream car based off of the highboy hot rods of his time. For more info, and a company building one, check this site

I'd say don't worry about it at all. Maybe she's worried that you're thinking that she's too tall!!! Go to dinner, talk and have fun. If she's shallow and is concerned about your height, then you'll be glad to be rid of her now than later. I can see if you two hit it off after your first date but she was concerned about your height. You didn't even go out yet - so why worry about crossing that bridge when you're no where near it? Don't sweat the petty things (and don't pet the sweaty things) - relax and have fun meeting someone new.

Can't wait to see the updated pics!

Umm... are you on drugs? GMC does not stand for General Motors Commercial - it stands for General Motors Corporation <Trucks>. It has since it was first used in 1912. GMC actually makes money for GM. I can't understand why people around here want to get rid of GMC Trucks???

Not to be nosy, but I too would like to know what the deal was with your lease. I'm looking to get rid of my Malibu soon and the LaCrosse is still on my shopping list (unfortunately, not the wife's though). By the way, keep us informed of your happiness with the LaCrosse and best of luck with it. TIA!

I am taking 141 Seniors on their class trip from New Jersey to Southern California from Monday, March 13th through Saturday, March 18th. While I probably will jump back on here tomorrow for a little bit and rush back on next Sunday, I just wanted to let everyone know why you won't see me around for the next 7 days. Try to keep everything in balance, and someone PM me if something juicy happens, as I probably won;t be able to go back and read ALL of this upcoming weeks posts! Oh yes, in case you were wondering... I am CRAZY for being (1) a Class Advisor, and (2) taking 141 students all the way to California!!!!!

Why can't GM control its dealerships?
GMTruckGuy74 replied to bowtie_dude's topic in Heritage Marques
Yes, some SATURN dealers are trying to capitalize on the demand of the SKY. Thankfully mine isn't one of these dealers. It seems as if a lot of the SATURN dealers in California are upcharging the SKY, between $2K and $5K over MSRP. I think that anyone who pays OVER msrp is nuts. Dealers make a good profit at MSRP, they just want to be greedy (it's my :twocents: ) There are several Pontiac dealers near me with 2,3 or more Solstices sitting on the lots, for over two months now! And most of those Sols have $5K attached to them. But they know Spring is around the corner and people will want convertibles. And those that buy with an upcharge must like being raped by a dealer. I can't wait to meet a Solstice owner when I have my SKY and let them know I got it at MSRP and without haggling for it -
Funny and sad at the same time. Funny, just b/c you're a funny guy ocn and it really made me laugh. Sad, b/c she really did say that by buying the SKY means I can't buy any other "toy" vehicle. But I think the SKY is worth it, don't you??

Went to the dealer today and gave my $500 deposit. Wife went with me, and surprisingly, she was very cordial with the sales manager and complimented the SKY many times (I think secretively she really wants this car too). So I'm on my way to making this dream a reality! By the way, the image was changed to my spec's and submitted on Feb. 28th - I'm at event code 025 right now (Selected for Approval). Sales Manager said the dealer demo model should be in around the 15th, and they're having a private party on the 20th for those that have ordered their SKY and those on the waiting list... can't wait to go!

That would look so nice parked next to my SKY in the garage... with the AURA out in the driveway for the wife!!!

We have XM in the Envoy; I wanted OnStar in my Malibu, but back in Nov. '03 when I bought it the only way you could get OnStar is if you took XM too (that's how the dealers were ordering the fully loaded LT sedans). I occasionally listen to station 150 XM Comedy, but my 11 y-o enjoys many of the hipper stations. I know the wife listens to the XM radio too, as she has a 32 mile one-way commute to work (comapred to my 7 mile one-way commute). We had the three months free (Sept-Oct-Nov), didn't renew until late Dec. for another small four-month trial (I noticed the renewal form arrived in yesterday's mail). I wonder if the wife will renew?

Trust me 68, I've been ther and done that!!! I really dig the frontend design of the ION Quad Coupe. Of course I also like the ION QC Redline model a lot, but I don't drive stick (sorry - don't hate me peeps!). I think it's worth the test-drive when you're ready. Downside is Saturn's warranty is 3yr/36K compared to the Cobalt's 5yr/60k warranty. Of course if you priced the ION with the extend GM warranty, I wonder how much more it would be?

I have the 1:18th Road Signature version in gray and the 1:24th Maisto version in dark blue. I think the Road Signature version is better detailed, even if there is a size difference! I bought mine at BJ's Wholesale Club for under $10

I'm really diggin' that '73 FOG! It's one nice Camaro. While I prefer the Firebird/Formula/Trans Am models ('67-'02), I also really like the '70-'73 Camaros. I had for my first car a '78 Camaro LT - bought it Sept. '92 with 28K on the odometer... 305 V8, auto, black with red vinyl. I miss driving that car (it was replaced in May '94 by my cousin's '92 Cavalier Z24 with 7K on the odo.. the Cavy was a lot faster, better equipped and more comfortable to drive than the Camaro). But I still miss her nonetheless.

I think this would make a great replacement for my '04 Malibu.

I'm jealous, to say the least! LOL! Great choice. What color? You''l have to let us know what it's like when you get it and post some pics too. Be patient, some of us are also waiting for our dream vehicles too! :AH-HA_wink:

68, have you considered the ION Quad Coupe??? You can get a 5-speed manual with it, plus it has the dent-resistant body panels, and best of all if you need to put Sofia in the rear seat it's super easy because of the Quad Coupe rear doors. Just my :twocents: (especially since I'll be a SATURN owner soon!)

I don't think it will dilute the Solstice market, especially since Pontiac will get more of the production run. I think it will add to GM's portfolio, allowing people to choose which one will fit them best. Not everyone will want to buy car A, some will want car B, and others will want car C. That's why we have choices. At the SKY's display at the Philly Auto Show, there were a handful of people that prefered the Solstice over the SKY and many others that liked the SKY over the Solstice. While I liked the Solstice from the beginning (concept), the SKY meets my design tatstes better. If not for the SKY, I wouldn't be buying a Solstice.

Why? This is my dream car! And one that I'll actually be able to get and drive and enjoy...

Maybe we're all just doing our part to help GM out! ... ... ... ... ... ... ... And it doesn't hurt that GM is making vehicles that we want to buy!!!
