  1. Congrats on purchasing one of your most desired dream cars. I can't wait for the day (not any time soon though) that I can feel the same excitement over the purchase of a '55-'57 GMC pickup. Post more pictures, especially without the wheel skirts, when you have the time and your hand is up to it.
  2. Serious questions I'm posting here Fly: 1. When will Saturn start accepting the GM Card earnings? Now that Saturn is considered a "GM Division", they need to get on this program ASAP. The wife and I are looking to buy either an Acadia or Outlook in 2008 (unless I can get her to let me finally get the Sierra ), but the ultimate decision-maker will be when the GM Card earnings we have get factored in. Why should Saturn lose out on more sales because they don't accept GM Card earnings? This has to change and quickly. 2. Why is Saturn not issuing more licensing rights for merchandise? I've had my SKY for almost a year now. I can hardly find anything collectible in the marketplace. Yet the Solstice has books, diecasts in all sizes, various t-shirts, you get the point. Car people like to buy car-related things. Saturn wants to reinvent their image and by issuing more licensing rights, it will definitely help in reaching that goal. Plus it's another good way to make more $$$ for them! That's it for now; if I think of more I'll post them here. Also, let me just say that I'm very jealous of you getting to go to a Saturn event . Please tell them to think of me for next year's event - or if it's not too late, invite me to this years . Heck, I've bought (2) 2007 Saturns in one year - you don't even have one!!! Not Fair!
  3. The AURA drives and handles well. I have an XE and it comes with Hankook tires - something I don't like. They suck in snow and offer so-so performance in wet weather (rain). They handle well on dry pavement though. If I bought the car instead of leasing it, I probably would have replaced the tires with another brand (the XR comes with Goodyears). I didn't get the leather interior option, and what sucks about that is the steering wheel is not covered in leather (stupid plastic steering wheel). I think GM/Saturn made a mistake by not including a leather on the steering wheel and shifter (again, only come that way with the leather interior option). I have over 5k on it so far and like the ride, handling, engine performance (3500 V6) and trunk space (not as pdeep as my '04 Malibu LT, but the styling of the AURA makes up for that). Everybody who rides in it can't believe it's the base model of the range. While I went with a cloth XE, I did get the following options: heated front seats, remote start, power passenger seat, adjustable pedals, and chromed wheelcovers. I wish my dealer had found one with the 6-disc CD player, as I have that option in both my Envoy & SKY - there are times I wonder why it won't let me add more than 1 CD and then I remember that it's a single dics player But it does have the auxillary input jack so I can take along the iPod and use it in the car (same with the SKY but not the Envoy). The wife and I are lead foots and the combined fuel economy is around 22 MPG. Not too bad, but I'd like to see it get closer to the 30 MPG mark SOON. My parents have a 2006 Pontiac G6 V6 Sedan and are happy with that. It offered just about everything they wanted in a new sedan and sporty styling (what my dad liked most). Don't forget that the all-new 2008 Chevy Malibu will be out soon - the AURA, G6 and Malibu would make a good choice IMHO.
  4. Awww... it better be good! If it's black or silver Wait, you better take pics of it at the dealership before leaving if the weather doesn't cooperate! Do you care to elaborate? I'm really interested in finding out your impressions of the G8 and why you don't like it after flying all the way over to Austrailia. Not a problem! You bought GM, so of course you'll get a bunch of congrats here.
  5. Although I wasn't too thrilled with teh all-new Grand Prix for 2004, and a close friend of mine has had many problems with his 2005 GP, I do like the GXP model. The fact that it has a V8 - the first GP since '87 - made it that more special. You didn't mention, so I'll go ahead and ask: 1. Colors? 2. Options? 3. What deals are they offering right now? Can't wait to see your pictures too!
  6. Good luck getting a new job and that '69 Pontiac Firebird. I'd love to find a '68 Firebird myself, especially a convertible. That's my favorite of the '67-'69 1st generation.
  7. Fly, it's funny you mention this - a '99 Riviera has been listed in a local Trenton (NJ) paper for the last week. I'd love to see it for myself, but know I don't have the $$$ to buy it (and I know I'd fall in love with it). Here are the details, according to the ad (it seems as if it was just waiting for you): BUICK RIVIERA '99 - Supercharged, pearl white, chrome wheels, every opt avail, mint, 48,000mi, $9500. You can PM me for the phone # (I believe it is a cell #, so I can't narrow the area down on where it is).
  8. +1
  9. If I buy a car right off the lot, I'll remove the dealer sticker as soon as I get it home. When I've ordered my cars, I requested no dealer sticker to be put on (I've encountered the "well, I'll have to get my manager's approval first" line many times). My car, no free advertising! The exception to that rule is that I've allowed the dealer license plate frame to remain on my two Saturns so far, since I've been really happy with the dealership in general. However, I'm considering getting engraved frames for all three of my vehicles, so the Saturn dealer ones may soon go away. But no, usually I don't advertise a dealership for free. I'm paying them for the car, they should pay me if they want me to flaunt their name around. One dealership actually told me that is how they recognize their customers cars while in the shop from ones not purchased from them - they pull those cars out to handle their own customers first. I told them that was crazy - since I didn't just own the brands they sold & would have taken my other car to them for service too, I had horrible images of my car not being serviced b/c it wasn't bought from them. I never used them for service and never returned again to buy from them. I'm surprised we haven't heard from all the salespeople on the forum yet on this topic.
  10. Is this the ship that's docked across from the Philly IKEA parking lot, closest to the Walt Whitman Bridge? If it is, I didn't realize that it had a storied history. I'll admit that I wondered why someone left a ship there to rust away rather than scrapping it.
  11. http://www.toytruckcity.com/19gmcfucobus.h...gmcfucobus.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All yours just for $79.99 (kinda pricey IMO for a 1/64th scale).
  12. That just bothers me. I was hoping that the Envoy & Trailblazer were going to return to their roots using teh GMT-355 platform, much like the Hummer H3. I could see the Chevy being more of the rugged version, while the GMC remains rugged yet being more upscale and the Hummer still being the all-rugged, all-the-time much like it is now. I think the Lamdba-based Acadia is a perfect replacement for both the Envoy and Envoy XL and would have liked to seen a GMT-355 version SUV return to GMC's lineup.
  13. I collect toys still @ 32 y-o, spend too much online (C&G, skyroadster.com, eBay), and I love STAR WARS. Need I say more? However, I have the love of 14-18 years in my school, as I'm viewed as a "cool teacher". I think they think I'm funny, even though I know my jokes & humor are corny.
  14. I hate to tell you, but basically Saturn has taken Oldsmobile's place in the GM hierachy. And you could say the same about Oldsmobiles - a classier Chevy but priced higher than a Pontiac. I too wish GM would have kept Olds and axed Buick. Olds had more impressive cars and sold to many people UNDER 50. You can't say that about Buick at the time. Just as GM combined Buick-Pontiac-GMC, I think Olds and Saturn should have been combined. This way the Aurora could have lived on, the Bravada could have been the precursor to the OUTLOOK (instead of the non-selling Rainier), the Alero or Intrigue would have become the AURA, and the Silhouette was already basically the RELAY anyway. But alas, Olds is gone and I'm sure it won't come back (unfortunately).
  15. jgolden, congrats on the new car. It's always a nice feeling whenever you get a new car. And caddycruiser, why didn't you PM me that you're selling the '95 FWB?
  16. Well, many of the Acadia's I see on the dealers lots are SLT-2 AWD models, stickering at or above $40K. And Acadia sales seem to be doing well for the time being. My local and very small GMC dealership has already received three SLT-2 AWD Acadia's and sold two... they justy got in two SLE FWD models, so time will tell.
  17. Well, I'm not sure if there will be an actual H3T, but there were the pictures of a longbed version of the H3 4-door floating around about 2-3 months ago. I'd rather have the H3T as it was in concept form though.
  18. Seeing as how the Acadia or OUTLOOK are in consideration as a replacement for the '05 Envoy, I'm impressed with those MPG numbers that caddycruiser posted. The wife drives 98% of her 32-mile one-way commute on highways, and the best the Envoy's gotten is around 17 MPG. When I use it for commuting to work (7 miles one-way, two-lane road) I get about 15 MPG. So seeing higher numbers with a larger vehicle like the Acadia is reassuring.
  19. I can't wait for this year's NYIAS. It seems GM will be pulling out all the guns for this show. I'll be there on the 9th.
  20. The AACA Museum in Hershey, PA has quite a few buses in its collection (parked in the lower level <aka basement> witht he other trucks). Not sure if you checked them out yet or not. I was there I believe back in 2004 and unfortunately have not made it back to the museum in my travels to Hershey since then. I'll probably stop by there this June though just to see what's new. While I love all GMCs, I'd have to say that the buses are at the bottom of the list for me. Not that you're alone - I know that there's ton of bus enthusiasts out there in this world. Just very few here at C&G!
  21. Yeah Sixty-8, what happened to the Buick deal? Did it fall through?
  22. Welcome to 1997 - the last time GMC used the "GMC Trucks" emblem on their vehicles. However, I am not in agreement with you for a change here, or even with GM for dropping "Trucks" back in 1997. I'd rather it stay GMC Trucks here and come back to the division's emblems and advertising (my own personal preference). Going back even further in GMC's history, while the "GMC" letters were inculded on the grilles of GMC trucks, the emblems also included "General Motors Trucks". Look at the first attached picture - it's from a 1920's GMC grille. The COE (Cab-Over Engine) trucks in the '40s actually had a different emblem that simply stated "General Motors Truck" instead of GMC (see the 2nd attached pic). It was starting with the 1947 redesign that "GMC" was used without "General Motors Trucks". Personally, I think the brand should have been identified as "GMT" (General Motors Trucks) rather than GMC way back in the day. Too many people confuse GMC with General Motors Corporation - by which I mean people refer to General Motors as "GMC" and not in the sense of General Motors Corportation Trucks. Look at ebay - many General Motors-related products are listed as being GMC -for example, seach GMC dealership poster and you'll find they'll be a Pontiac, Chevy, Buick or Cadillac poster and not just a GMC Truck poster. This is all just my good ol' :twocents: btw
  23. Because of the beautiful weather on Wednesday, and subsequently the horrible weather forecasted for this weekend, I took the SKY out for it's first top-down drive of 2007. It is now safely parked in the garage, away from the wet, cold weather and the salt/sand that will be around again soon I'm sure.
  24. There was a white '07 Yukon Denali parked at the nearby Target/Wegman's this past weekend and I thought it really stood out (in a good way). I agree with Captainbooyah that these do look better in person than in pictures; although I would rather have the new Sierra's frontend instead.
