I've never attended the Fall Carlisle show, as I go to the Hershey show the following weekend and usually the same vendors show up there too (I'm sure some don't and others that don't go to Carlisle go to Hershey). This year there's a Mack Truck Show outside of Lancaster on the 6th, so I'm taking the little guy to that show. I'm like Hudson & Balthazar, I walk around blindly (whereever my feet take me), looking where I like and very rarely know what color field I'm in. Maybe next year I'll add the Spring Carlisle show to my agenda, maybe even the Spring or Fall Englishtown as I've never been there either and I'm only 30-45 mins away.

Pontiac G8 to start at $27,595 | Ordering Guide
GMTruckGuy74 replied to Lamar's topic in Heritage Marques
Oh you just know the Pontiac dealers are starting to salivate over how much they can rape customers for on the G8 (they did it with the GTO and Solstice, what makes you think they won't for the G8???). If Pontiac is to survive, then GM needs to put a leash on it's Pontiac dealers before they screw up the G8 launch and continued sales. I'd like to consider one for myself, but already dread hearing the salesperson try to justify their $5000 markup "because of their limited availabilty". -
*MOD NOTE: I moved this topic as you were asking for information and not providing any information on GM -Roger Sorry, I wish I had news to tell you, but the 2008s are just starting to arrive and this body style will be around until 2012, so I doubt much news will come out now. Hopefully after all the major auto shows are over (April, 2008) maybe updates will start leaking out before the much lauded product updates are shared by GM in July.

Yeah, I wasn't too impressed with the maroon GN, so I passed on it. The black, silver and now blue GN's caught my eye though!

In post #20 on page 1, I already posted the picture of the All-Terrain's rim design, as shown on GM's online ordering guide: And if you need the proof for yourself: http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/NASApp/domestic/...m=2&butID=4

We just happened to stop at a Kmart last Saturday... after checking out and passing by the Customer Service desk, I noticed 5 HWs boxes sitting on the counter. I went through it and found the blue Buick GN (which I bought to go along with the silver & black ones) and passed on the orange Camaro, the 2008 Mustang Shelby GT500, the blue with white flames '59 Caddy Eldorado convertible, and some others. I was thinking to myself, "it must have been a collector's event day" without really knowing.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I'd be interested in hearing what people have to say about the Northstar V8 that came with in the 1993 Cadillac Allante...

Oh the Reatta... I found online what looked like a decent 1990 Reatta coupe shortly before I placed my order for the SKY. I have loved the Reatta ever since they were introduced and have always wanted one. If that '90 was a convertible, I may have ended up with that over the SKY (crazy, I know). I really want a 1991 convertible, as they made some upgrades for '91 and included bigger aluminum wheels with a better look than the '99-'90 rims. Now that the SKY is for sale, I may resume my search when money becomes more available in the near future.

Well, why you have won that battle, I'm losing on my end... a co-worker purchased a Solara convertible last August (2006) - he was a devote GM owner; he looked at the G6 convertible, but there were none available on the lots at the time and he was ready to purchase ASAP. For some unknown reason, he loves the car and tells everyone about it. Another co-worker owns a 2003/2004 Sebring convertible and is ready to replace it. She needs 4-passenger capability and a useful trunk; the G6 is out. The Saab 9-3 convertible is out of her price range. The SKY and Solstice are too small, plus they're 2-seaters and have no trunk space per her needs. I even told her about the Mustang V6 convertible, which she likes, but thinks it's also has a small interior & trunk space. As she has not been imnpressed with her last two Sebrings, she won't consider any Chrysler product and is leary of GM and Ford products too. As our former co-worker (he retired in June) praises his Solara, she is interested in obtaining one sometime this Fall. What am I to do? She knows my dislike of Toyota, so I know she won't even tell me when she's out there buying. I can't consede this sale to Toyota... I just can't. Any advice???

BigPontiac, I got a hold of the Sierra All-Terrain hero card on Saturday and the Tahoe Z71 interior picture that you posted is the same interior that's offered on the Sierra All-Terrain (SLT package; no idea what the SLE2 interior looks like). Also, from the picture of the truck, it shows it equipped with Bridgestone <something - maybe Dueler?> A/T tires. SLT models will have the option of an Ebony, two-tone Ebony/Light Titanium, and two-tone Ebony/Morocco interior color choices. And seeing as how it comes with painted mirror caps & door handles, the Sierra Denali's bodyside molding, and the 6.0L V8 as an option, I think GM has come pretty close to what you want in a new Sierra. I'm curious as to how the brushed aluminum trim will appear on the SLE2 model with the Work Truck (or pure pickup) dash, as that would be the package I would go for (I'd love the SLT, but I think that would be pushing the upper limits of what my wife would allow me to spend! ) I live in one of those golf course communities and parked in the club house parking lot today was a black Sierra Denali (new body style). I'd love to have that above all else!

Back in the '90s, I'd take the train (NJ Transit) into the city 4-5 times a year. Now I'm lucky if I get there at least twice a year (April for the NYIAS and the mandatory pre-Christmas visit). This year I've aready been twice (January & April), and would love to go this month or some point in early October (I like the City in the fall). However, I know that I will definitely get there sometime after Thanksgiving and before Christmas! To anyone looking to have a drink and take a break from walking, if you're in Times Square I suggest you go to the Marriott Marquees <spelling?> hotel. The floor you check-in on and where the restaurants are (I believe it's eight) has a great bar overlooking Times Square (sit by the windows if you get there early enough and you can see the street below). I like to vist the Times Square Toys R Us (always amazed at the amount of people in there no matter what time of the day), NYC Disney Store, Macy's, Rockefeller Center (and the NBC Studio Store) and just walking up & down 5th Avenue. BV, can't wait to see your photos of your trip!

What type or types of vehicle(s) do you buy new?
GMTruckGuy74 replied to Camino LS6's topic in The Lounge
I've had quite a bit of different types... two-doors, coupes, pickups, sedans, crossovers, suvs... of course nowadays I need my vehicles to have 4-doors or more due to family needs. Personally, I like being behind the wheel of a pickup truck and can't wait for the moment to return to one (the Envoy is nice, but the only true SUV I really like and could like more than a pickup would be a Suburban/Yukon XL). I'm not a real large guy height-wise, but being 5'8" and 240 lbs I like my vehicles to be roomy & comfy. The AURA will be the last small car I own; I'm okay in it, but after an hour or longer in the driver's seat I start to feel too cramped. I've lately been using the Envoy for all of our long-haul trips just because I find it to be more comfortable. I'm hoping next year the wife will choose the Acadia or Enclave over the VUE for those reasons alone. In 2009, as long as gas prices don't get too far out of hand, I foresee myself in a Sierra. -
Congrats on the truck purchase, and welcome back to the GM family! You know I really approve of your selection :AH-HA_wink:

I got a 2008 Canyon brochure from a GMC dealership where I attended a car show yesterday. At least 4 Canyons were shown in the brochure equipped with the V8 engine. How do I know they had the V8? V8-equipped models will have a small chrome V8 emblem on the top edge of the front fenders close to the outside rearview mirrors.

The online ordering guide has slightly upgraded their description of the All-Terrain package from what I posted earlier (bolded items are what has been updated): What I really want to see now is the interior features of the All-Terrain package. The following from the above description has definitely caught my attention: carpeted floor mats with embroidered "All Terrain" logo, unique sill plates, unique instrument cluster with Z71 logo and "mechanical brushed aluminum" accents for instrument panel, center console and switch trim plates.

We're sorry you're poisoning our children
GMTruckGuy74 replied to the_yellow_dart's topic in The Lounge
I wonder if this had anything to do with the visit by the dozen or so ninjas at Mattel's US headquarters the other night??? (I'm still waiting for my son's voucher to replace his CARS "Sarge" recall jeep due to lead paint contamination...) -
Oh, and if anyone's been to Denmark and can share some of their experiences that would help out my wife, that would be greatly appreciated. This will be her first time to a European country and first time out of the States (minus our Disney Cruiseline trip in the Carribbean and her visits to Puerto Rico to see her mom).

Thanks for the link PCS. I don't know why I didn't think of checking GM's website for this info. Well, she's going by herself for work. I'll be home, taking care of the two boys and going to work and playing the role of "Mr. Mom"...

My wife's company is headquartered in Denmark (it's a pharmacutical company). She was asked to attend a workshop there for several days next week (Sept 23-27). She asked what I'd like for her to bring me back, and I couldn't really think of anything until this morning. Depending on what brand of GM vehicles are sold there (i.e. Vauxhall, Opel), I'd like a brochure from them (I'm a cheap person to get gifts for at times). She'll have time to tour the city and will be taken around by someone she knows from Denmark that comes to the States often at her work, so they should know where to find these dealerships. Any help???

RPO Z71 is the suspension/package code, but since it has earned customer recognition, "Z71" has come to mean more than a simple option on these GM trucks.

Fly, the link doesn't work!!!

FOG, do you think a product like Meguire's Trim Detailer would work well? I got a can of it in a car wash kit last Christmas and wasn't sure what to use it on. I spray the wheel wells with Simple Green, use what I can of an older plastic bristle bruch to scrub inside (not much space with the SKY & AURA - Envoy's easy), and then hose out. I do this everytime I wash my vehicles.

Here's a small picture from the GM online ordering guide of the All-Terrain's 18" chrome-clad rim (RPO RGA): And here's more about the package itself:
