  1. First off, congrats Camino on your wish coming true. I'm sure you've been doing nothing but day-dreaming about colors and options, and any mods you can perform ASAP! Second, please PM me the e-mail addresses of the "right" :AH-HA_wink: people at GM that you've been bombarding to make this a reality for you. I need to send them 15-20 e-mails a day to make the G8 Sportswagon a reality for me. I cruised through a not-to-far-away GMC dealership's lot today to take in all of their Sierras (surprisingly, they've already begun to cut-back on their usual stock amount ). Looking at the fuel economy ratings, and realizing gas prices will exceed $3-$4 soon, made me very depressed on the fact I may not end up with what I really want. However, the option of a G8 Sportwagon could make that depression go away I too have my doubts that the G8 Sportwagon is a dead issue. GM, please don't make me wait too much longer... I'm beggining here!
  2. I've gone every year since '95, and this year will be no different!
  3. I'd like to have seen that on the list, especially since HW's has the '94-'99 generation already. I've only got the Camaro, and the tooling isn;t any different from the regualr line model. These HW's, including the HW's CLASSIC's line, are all about metal chasis, special metallic paints, and I'm assuming speed wheels and/or rubber tires. The Vette and Viper have been featured numerous times in the regular "CLASSICS" series (I looked at the Viper in the next peg where I found the Camaro). This new series is including cars that have not already been featured in the CLASSICS series.
  4. Hot Wheels is celebrating their 40th Anniversary in 2008 and has introduced a new series called "Modern Classics". I've seen these cars only at Wal-Mart so far. Here's the list of cars, as featured on the blister pack: Honda Civic Si Datsun 240Z '70 Nova '70 Ford Torino '92 Ford Mustang '77 Pontiac Firebird '83 Silverado Buick Grand National Custom '07 Ford Mustang '80 El Camino 1970 Plymouth Road Runner '67 Shelby GT-500 '68 Olds 442 Dodge Challenger Concept Camaro Concept I've only seen the Civic, Datsun and Camaro Concept so far, but it seems a few more from the series have shown up on eBay. I'll try to get some pictures and post them in here. I personally can't wait to find the '83 Silverado and the '80 El Camino
  5. Amen Duncan!!! While I prefer trucks/suvs to cars, it doesn't mean that I won't buy a car if it can do what I need/ask of it. With gas prices on the rise, I may not be able to afford both the monthly payment AND the weekly gas costs of a full-size pickup (what I really want). The Pontiac G8 Sportwagon would have definitely been high up on my shopping list, and most likely parked in my garage, when I am in the market again (summer/fall of 2009). GM has given up on a potential market without testing the water for themselves (just because Dodge is giving up on the Magnum doesn't mean GM can;t take over the market).
  6. Yeah, I like them all too. I've been seeing some newer "lifted" Fords and some '04-'06 Chevy Silverados around where I live, but no "lifted" all-new Sierras. I decided to do a Google Images search and the first one posted popped up. I, like 76chevytrucker, have always loved the "traditional" regualr cab, long bed pickup truck and if I had the money to own a one (not for family hauling usage), that's ultimately the style I'd go with. I'm not a big fan of the all-new Sierra HD's 4-bar grille (I like the regular 3-bar grille better), but with that truck lifted and those big wheels on it, it all blends in better. Well, most of the regular cab, longbed HD's (GMC or Chevy) I've seen are owned by commercial businesses or as government vehicles (local & state highway depts, for example). I look through the free bi-weekly "Truck Shopper" magazine and see a lot of the HD, work tuck packaged regular cab/longbed models available through commercial GMC and Chevy dealers. I guess they're out there, just not very visible?
  7. I'd be more excited about the G8 if I knew for sure that the Pontiac dealers aren't going to be a$$holes by putting huge "market adjustment premium" prices on them (see recent GTO and Solstice launches). I doubt very highly most Pontiac dealers aren't going to try to capitalize for themselves on the limited production G8s. Paying sticker isn't something I like to do (and have ever rarely done it), but I'll say right now I won't even consider a vehicle OVER the sticker price. GM better watch out for this, because it will surely hurt them.
  8. I like the new Ram, but I wouldn't buy one over the Sierra. It's also nice to see one truck manufacturer keeping two-toned exterior colors alive and well in the 21st century.
  9. What's that old saying? Umm, once you go black, you.... Ask and you shall receive: And Dark Steel Gray... And one Red so far:
  10. Okay, if the incentives are in high gear, then I want to see GMAC put out a really good lease loyalty program (aka "pull-ahead" program) that covers more than just two payments. If GM wants to sell cars bad enough, I may be able to pull off buying one as early as February if they're willing to make my remaining six lease payments on the Envoy go "bye-bye"!!!
  11. Where's the "This thread is useless without pictures" smiley? Though GM may not be ready to show the entire truck until March, they still should have released one of their "artist's renderings" with the announcement, even if it was just a "tease" shot.
  12. I found these pictures online today while doing a little surfing and wanted to share them here (not that many will care! ): If anyone wishes to buy me this as a belated birthday present, let me know and I'll send you the address of where the truck is and the address to my driveway!!!
  13. Well, I'm not going to say that I wouldn't like a GMC Acadia AWD or Saturn OUTLOOK AWD... but I think I'd be the same way with either of them as I am now with the Envoy - not totally happy. Don't get me wrong, I love driving my Envoy, but it's not a Sierra. While I'm content with the Envoy, I'd be a much happier person if it were a Sierra. I think if I got the Acadia or OUTLOOK, after the "new car buzz" wears off, I'd be right back to the "I wish I got a Sierra" mode. At least with the G8 Sportwagon, I like station wagons almost as I like pickup trucks, and could deal with it better. But I can't let the news of today worry me about a purchase that is still 22 months away (or sooner if I get a pull-ahead offer). If the chance comes along for me to get something that motivates me, maybe I'll see if there's a financially capabale way of getting out of the AURA and into something else. Otherwise, I'll be waiting until November of 2009 to deal with it.
  14. Damn, damn, damn!!! What the is wrong with GM? I'm just waiting for the announcement that all of these sissified changes are being made because Toyota bought GM. I think I better get myself a G8 or Camaro if I want to have a brand new, RWD, V8-powered vehicle before they become as extinct as the dinosaurs.
  15. Well, maybe this means Alpha for Pontiac after all, and I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the Pontiac Torrent will become the GMC Terrain (hopefully a lot different than the rebadged VUE being sold in the Middle East).
  16. One would have definitely been in my garage. With the news of $4-$5 regualr gas, my choices in 2009 are becoming limited. I really want a GMC Sierra, but the gas costs will kill me for a vehicle that isn't needed as much as it's wanted. I was really, really, really hoping that GM/Pontiac was going to bring over the G8 Sportwagon, but now that dream too is being squashed. I love my AURA, but it is too small for my overall comfort, so where does this leave me in regards to a future purchase? To GM: I've been a loyal and diehard customer all this time, but I'm just not a happy person with you right now...
  17. I like this car a lot! I would much rather have this CTC than the CTS, although the CTS is still one of my favorite 2008 GM vehicles. I will say that as soon as I saw this picture: I immediately thought of this: Which of course in my book, a car sharing design cues with the Cadillac Cien isn't a bad thing!
  18. I've got Hankook tires on the '07 AURA and they SUCK big time. I get horrible wet weather traction (rain or snow, it doesn't matter), and won't let the wife drive the AURA whenever rain/snow is predicted or if it is actually raining or snowing. If the car wasn't leased, I would have gotten rid of those crappy tires shortly after delivery. If you like them, good for you. But I think GM is using cheap tires nowadays - our leased '03 Buick Rendezvous FWD CX needed new tires at the 24 month mark. I held out to 28 months, but they were definitely shot at that point. They were Bridgestone tires and even though the lease was ending soon, I knew I had to replace them regardless. I was always happy with Goodyears, and my neighbor has been happy with Michelins (on his Fords). GM needs to look at this closely, because a poor/cheap performing tire from the factory will not make the customer a "completely satisfied" one.
  19. So, should GM offer two same-sized Chevrolets - the "Impala" in V6/FWD <W-body> format, and the "Caprice" in V8/RWD <Zeta> format??? What will be interesting to see is if the Malibu sales will steal away from the Impala at some point, negating the need for a FWD "Impala" and opening up the gates for a RWD "Impala/Caprice" to come aboard?
  20. I signed up. A little disappointed though that the media-event day is on a Saturday morning, and early. But regardless, I will be there!!!
  21. Speaking on that topic, no special GM media day event like last year Camino? And I haven't taken a sick day all school year yet!
  22. Okay, so you want to play it that way 1) Will it be before or after 2012? 2) Will any other division share the platform? 2A) If you answer yes to #2, what other division is it? 3) Will this scenario be true: the production H4 will relate very little to the Hx Concept as seen with the Pontiac G6 concept to the production G6? 4) Will a 2-door H4 be the only model offered?
  23. Congrats on the Torrent purchase! Wishing you many enjoyable and trouble-free miles
  24. +2 (And I think Hummer needs to be added to the list too, right?)
  25. The PDD option package (Comfort and Convenience Package, includes (CJ2) dual-zone air conditioning, (AG2) 6-way power front passenger seat adjuster, (UG1) Universal Home Remote, (AP9) trunk cargo convenience net and (DR2) outside heated power-adjustable mirrors) is available on the CX, but I don't know how much it costs. *EDIT - it's a $950 option.
