Yes, I too see the Opel Flexstram in this concept, but I also see the Chevy Groove: I can see Saturn getting the Opel version as-is and Chevy getting a rebodied version of it as the Groove (could it be an HHR replacement perhaps?).

BV, don;t think you're totally excluded. Right now, I just want to know how many people would be willing to pay the costs to put their car on the show field in the car club catergory to see if we could get the free tent. That's not to say that other things aren't in the works, especially something that would make all C&G members want to meet up at some point for the official "gathering" :AH-HA_wink:

Oh, $4+per gallon of gas is for sure coming soon. As barrels of oil continue to trade at prices above $100 (I believe it recently went as high as $102/barrel), the cost for the consumer is sure to come much sooner than many of us would like. At this time, I would like to make a special note to both the US Dept of the Interior and the the Dept of Tourism - get ready for your "gloom and doom" reports. As gas prices increase, consumers that have to watch their gas costs (i.e. lower & middle class Americans that live paycheck-to-paycheck and need the extra $$$ just to be able to get to work) will be cutting back on their frivilous holiday/vacation travels. Not only have I reconsidered my decision to purchase a full-size pickup next year, I am already planning cutbacks on travels this year - including family trips, car shows, and business trips that I pay out of pocket for. While I am not ready to make a mini-car purchase, and don't forsee it anytime soon - I'll be one of the few that will sacrifice travel due to the rising gas costs. Let's see how Las Vegas, the Disney World Resorts, shore towns, and many other tourist attractions handle the loss of revenues because of similar people like me cutting back due to rising fuel costs. Maybe when business owners feel the pinch, legislators in Washington will react.

Too many people here say that "it's all about the business, GM isn't in it just for the enthusiasts" ]<paraphrased of course>... well I say !!! If GM really cared just about the almighty $$$, then they would find a way to produce the vehicles that people are syaing they want, especially at prices that are truly affordable for the "average" American. I'm seeing plenty of brand new Nissan Altima Coupes and Honda Accord Coupes on the road here in southern in New Jersey... I can only imagine how many more are on the roads in larger states. GM's last big coupe was the Monte Carlo - a real sales success, I know I still see plenty of late '90s/early '00s Grand Prix and Grand Am coupes on the road; I fail to believe that there are people that would refuse to purchase a truly world class GM mid-size/large coupe that was also affordable. GM is really just giving up the market here, and would rather put out Epsilon cars instead. I love my AURA, but after having two Epsilons now ('04 Malibu, '07 AURA), I am not returning to this platform for my next purchase. GM needs to stop worrying about 2020's CAFE regs (okay, I realize 2011/2012 the mileage increases begin), but if these ZETA vehicles - G8 sedan/wagon/ute/coupe and GMC XT - were out now, GM would capitalze on the money they'd be bringing in plus the sales increases, and then use that money to develop better technology to keep ZETA alive (ZETA lite?) and develop ALPHA to be the best platform it can be. Anyway, this will fall on deaf ears within GM and I forsee many loyal GM owners/enthusiasts here and elsewhere not looking to GM in the future... [shrug]

Well, I'm sure Harrisburg has an airport, and it's not that far to Carlisle from there (I'd estimate about half an hour driving time). No, I'm sure it wouldn't since it's not a "GM vehicle". However, bring the Prizm and your problem is solved! Again, what I want to know is who would be interested in bringing their GM vehicle onto the show field as part of the C&G Club? You're vehicle will not be judged, it's just so the whole club can park together and be in one location. We'd get the tent free if we have 25 people register their cars/trucks. That's what I need to know right now (if you'd be willing to pay to put your car in the show). The cost of this registration, including admission for 2 people, woule be around $30. Parking in the Carlisle lots or on the side streets can cost between $5-$15, and I believe admission per person is around $10 - so it's definitely a bargain.

Hopefully both will be made soon and available even quicker While I really like this Coupe 60, I'd take teh Denali XT in a heartbeat. But it sure would be fun being able to test drive all three (G8 Sedan, GTO, Dehnali XT) "just because"!!!

Well, I had that feeling about a week ago when I saw a poster that I haven't seen in a while make a quiet return. Now that's not to say that it is Fly, I could have just been oblivious to this poster's posts before this topic appeared. But I got that feeling, and we all know that none of us diehard C&Gers can truly stay away for very long

Alright, so the big All-GM Nationals show at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, PA is coming up on June 20-22. In The O.C.'s post, I mentioned that Camino and I previously talked about getting a C&G Gathering together there in 2008. I have yet to speak with him about it further at this point, but this post is to gauge interest among those of you who'd like to travel to Central Pennsylvannia to attend this awesome show and be part of a much larger C&G gathering than what's occured anywhere else to date. As I mentioned already, if we have 25 GM cars/trucks register as a "car club", we'd receive reduced admissions costs, get to park inside of the show/on the show fields all together, and get the free use of a 20'x20' tent. So I know I'd bring one of my daily-driver GM vehicles (I don't have a show car, so what I drive will be cleaned up for display!), and Camino would probably do the same with one of his GM vehicles - now we just need 23 more members here to committ (but not quite fully yet). There are still more details that have to be worked out, and like I've stated, Camino and I have yet to talk about this in any more detail. At this point, if you're in the position to say that you are likely to participate in the C&G Gathering, post here so we can see the interest level that we have. If all goes well, I will see about getting a t-shirt designed and printed up to commemorate this event, and maybe even a banner that could be used at any C&G gathering around the country (assuming that those members in charge would pay shipping costs). The O.C. - sorry I your thread with a plug for a C&G gathering in Carlisle. I, like you, feel that this place is a BIG part of my life; if my computer is down at home, I'll find other ways to get back on I can't leave this place for a couple of days without wondering what is going on in my absence. If I attend overnight conferences or trips, I'll use a hotel computer (even if I have to pay out of my pocket for Internet time) just to stay "connected". Now, back to the 'ing If there are 25 members willing to bring their GM car/truck and show it off as part of a car club (C&G Car Club?), we'd be able to get reduced admission and a FREE 20x20 club tent to use. If we have less than 25 cars/trucks, then we are going to be charged $160 for the tent in addition to the admission costs. Just some food for thought. While I do not consider myself to be a "poser", I do agree that many pickup truck sales are to people that have no use for a "pick up truck" vehicle (remember, just like fashion, whatever the trend is currently is what sells, whether it looks good or not = same with pickup trucks over the last decade). I would get use out of a pickup, but not on a daily basis. Much like one can desire a sports car or convertible as their daily driver, I prefer pickup trucks. Well, I don't know about $5/gallon gas shutting me up, but you're 100% right on this point: realign a lot of people's thinking. While for many years I've desired a full-size GMC, and I'll be the closest to fulfilling that dream (financially) next year, the state of the gas price has caused me to rethink my decision. I'm not saying that I've totally given up on my dream, but until the day I can go shopping for my next vehicle (Nov '09), at this point I have no idea what I'll end up with.

Well, that article makes me want the G8 GT even more now!

Oh, I do like the way the G5 GT coupe looks and I'm sure it gets up pretty well and rides nice... BUT, when the time to buy comes, would I decide to plunk my money down on the G5 over the G8 GT? I really don't think so :AH-HA_wink:

I can't wait for this car to get here! I can see myself getting a G8 GT when my AURA lease is up in Nov '09... hopefully there is a 2010 model G8

Hey insiders - inquiring minds want to know: what is GM planning to do with this vehicle, now that it's made it rounds at the Chicago show? I hope GM brings this to the NYIAS next month. I really want to see it in person - I still like it very much, and recently bought a Chicago press kit on it from eBay

If it's a Chevy you truly want, be careful - the company that handled the trucks for Old Navy on occasion would take a GMC and put the Chevy front on it. No matter if I wanted anything from Old Navy (I actually stopped buying clothes for myself there a couple of years ago, but they're great for my 2 y-o son) or not, if I was in a mall for the first time and they had an Old Navy, I stopped in just to check out the truck (some newer Old Navy's though did not have a truck; now I can see why). I have spotted many "Chevies" that were really GMCs; just look at the interior for proof. :AH-HA_wink: And I want to say it had to be about 10 years ago now that Old Navy contracted with ERTL to offer the 1950 Chevy pickup diecast decorated as the "Old Navy pickup" around Christmas time. I don't know why, but I picked one up at a big discount right after the holidays and it's somewhere in a box in my basement.
