  1. 1. Purchased - 1 2. Intentions - 0; but the future isn't written and anything is possible!
  2. I figured I post these last two pictures of the Envoy here... She gained a "new"car, I lost my "baby"
  3. As much as I've liked these chrome rims in the past (on the original GT model), I really like the 18" rims you have on your GT better. However, this isn't my car and she's really happy with the chrome rims, so that's all that matters! Thursday night the dealer-installed chrome appearance items (lower chrome grilles, upper recessed chrome grilles, door sill plates, chrome exhaust tip) were not on the car and I kinda of preferred it without the lower chrome grilles (we just looked at a dark blue one with them and I did'nt like how it looked). But it's her car and she said she wanted everything put on it. When we pulled up for delivery and she saw the car washed and with the parts on it, she instantly loved it. I really liked the upper recessed chrome grilles, and found the lower chrome grilles to be acceptable on the lighter color cars. I'm getting used to it - she keeps saying "You still don't like the lower chrome, do you?" Hahaha!!! As for the wonderful[ <sarcasm heavily applied here> $317 Pro Package Burns PBG installs on all it's vehicles, it includes a color-coordinating TAPE pinstripe (the wife likes these, and it does look nice on the car I'll say, so it's staying per her instructions), VIN Etching, and the black door edge guards. They actually took off the $169 cost for the VIN Etching, as the company they use no longer offers the $2,000 cash payment if your car is stolen & not recovered; however, the cheesy window decals and the etching are still visually present. I want to remove the door edge guards - like I did on the Envoy we leased from them - because they stand out on the white car, but the wife insists they stay to "protect the paint" I wonder if they can be painted to match the color of the car Not all NJ dealers do this, but there are some infamous ones that do and I tend not to do business with them because they REQUIRE you to pay for this crap. I had no intention of purchasing from this dealership again for such reason, but the experience and service we received, let alone the car they had on the lot that my wife fell in love with, made me change my mind. Since she likes pinstripes, I guess it doesn't really matter. Put 160+ miles on it yesterday, with the wife doing a majority of the driving (FYI: she always makes me do the driving wherever we go - I insisted that since this is her car, she does the driving when we take the G6; needless to say, she's not liking tjis change ). We took my mother-in-law to the Philly IKEA, and my wife made me drive home since it was dark and she's not familiar with Philly & getting back to NJ. I will say that the G6 has a great ride to it (a little better than my AURA), it handles about the as the AURA, and while the 3.5l V6 has great punch that I'm used to, I feel the AURA's 3.5l V6 is more powerful off the line (could be the gear ration maybe?). Since a majority of the miles put on it yesterday were highway, according to the DIC we were getting 23.3 MPG average. Not bad for a new car with very little miles. And speaking of miles, the G6s that she test drove (a 4cyl WD and the V6 WD she bought) both had 3 miles on the ODO. The door jamb stickers both indicated that these two G6s were made this month (06/08). They literally were right off the carrier according to my salesman, especially since both cars had no gas in them (needles were below "E" on both). At the time of delivery, the V6 one had 6 miles on it (we drove the 4cyl G6 longer, and the V6 drive was a short trip for her just to compare the V6 to the 2.4l Ecotec since both cars had the same interior color and equipment). This is the second time we've purchased a car right off the lot that was pretty much recently off the carrier with brand new mileage, not counting my two ordered vehicles (2001 GMC Sonoma Highrider, 2007 Saturn SKY). It's nice and sunny outside, so I'll steal the keys and get some more pictures of it today.
  4. Picture time! (sorry, I only have 3 to post for now; the weather was not fun this afternoon and we spent more time with my wife's mother than I thought we would - it got too dark to take any nicer shots today) After the paperwork, ready to drive off the lot: And the two nicer shots I got at my parent's house before the storm came in: I'll get some more tomorrow if the weather is nice.
  5. Thank you sir! While I backed off of the "you MUST buy GM" during the last 4-5 month shopping process, I am grateful and happy with her decision to stay with GM. The fact that GMAC approved her rigth away and the finance manager said he didn't have to call them for any reason was a big bonus for staying with GM. Upon request, he told me that my credit score is good too and I won't have any problem getting GMAC to finance me in the future as long as I stay in good standing with them and don't ruin my credit score. The AURA and G6 look so nice parked next to each other in teh driveway - definitely a Kodak moment!!! She is in heaven with it today since taking delivery late this morning. We have more running around to do and while out, I'll snap a few shots of it in the sunlight (I got some at the dealership before we left, but it rained on the way home and when we got to my parent's house, so I didn't get any good ones). Thursday night the car did not have the dealer-installed chrome appearance items on; of course today they had them and how great the front-end looks! I am truly amazed & impressed by the looks (I've only seen the chrome package on dark-colored G6s and like it 100% better on the lighter colored ones). The salesman even said that it is a rare option, as one of the sales staff members was going to purchase the car for himself and can't locate any other G6 V6 Sedans in WD with the Taupe leather plus the chrome package. My wife truly lucked out - and for the longest time she didn't even want to consider the G6!!! dave87rs - my wife was not for the G6 until I mentioned that it was part of the 0% for 72 months deal and that she could get a much better equipped car for the money. Once she got behind the wheel and saw what a great car it is, she fell in love. She's totally happy with her decision. Pictures to come later tonight.
  6. Well, I think from my time spent in the G6 yesterday that the interior is smaller and tighter than the AURA, which is a plus for my wife (she likes smaller cars) and a negative for me (I like bigger cars). Ride-wise, I wouldn't say at this point that I noticed much of a difference between the two, but again I've been driving the AURA on and off (sharing with the wife) for the last year & a half; the G6 I spent about a total of 30 minutes between the two we test drove. I like the leather-wrapped steering wheel in the G6; my AURA has the fabric interior, so I don't have the leather-wrapped steering wheel. It was easy to drive and handle, and the pickup of the 3.5L V6 felt the same as in the AURA. I'm not "up" on the specs of the gearing ratios, so I'll assume that the 3.05 will aid in better fuel economy over the GT's 3.29? I'm curious as to what gear ratio my 2007 AURA has! One of the reasons I like this particular G6 is what many here have already stated - it has the look of the pre-'08 GT model without the price. caddycruiser - since I haven't been following Pontiacs lately, I didn't realize that the Chrome Appearance Package on the base G6 models was rare. I've seen some additional G6 V6 Sedan models there (midnight blue, for example) that also had this chrome package; they had several of the GT & GXP Street packaged models in-stock; both the wife and I agreed in our opinion it wasn't the best looking in the styling department (mainly due to the enormous front grilles). As I spend more time in the G6, I'll post comparisons with the AURA (especially since the AURA is my daily driver now until November, 2009). caddycruiser, I replied to your e-mail (sorry it was sent late). smallchevy, life is a balance and in due time I shall have another GMC to call my own :AH-HA_wink: Patience is one of my virtues! gm4life, the financial hit to our bank account when refueling the Envoy was the main motivator for the wife to "dump" it before the lease termination in mid-August. Not that filling the AURA up is such a great deal, but it goes longer and gets better mileage when compared to the Envoy. Yes, caddycruiser and I (my wife) both purchased Diamond White Tricoat colored G6's; his is a GT Coupe, where my wife's is a base V6 Sedan. I don't know if they'll ever be together for a picture, because it's the wife's car and not mine and I likely will not be left with it over the AURA. It is a great feeling to see Pontiac gaining sales, and the dealership where we're buying from was busy selling Pontiacs and GMCs that day (no one was there for a Buick while we were there ). And for many years I've been a Pontiac fan, so it's great returning to a loved brand. Better daytime pictures will be taken tomorrow (as long as it's not raining), and posted as soon as I can get them downloaded from the camera.
  7. 1. Two (2001 Sonoma, 2005 Envoy; both leased) 2. Yes (assuming gas prices are not spiraling out of control still and new options are explored <i.e. Denali XT :AH-HA_wink: >) That's a shame, seeing as how you're such a Pontiac fan and the fact that GMC & Pontiac have had a long-time affair together
  8. Well, the fact the G6 had 0% interest and the Vibe would have a minimum of 5.9% was the biggest piece of ammo in my arsenal. That she really wanted heated seats in her new car (the one option she insisted on having), which the Vibe doesn't offer, also helped to seal the deal. Additionally, the remote start with extended range (200 feet vs. 30 feet), the chrome package (she really likes the G6's chrome rims), the interior design being better in the G6 than in the Vibe (at least in our opinion; the Vibe GT is too basic for a $22k car), plus the fact that she could get a color other than black (all that's available in the Vibe) - all aided in getting her to realize that the G6 was the better deal and offered more bang for her buck. In reality, our credit is not horrible, but is also not great. Being that she's been in good standing with GMAC for the last 8 years, we kinda knew that GMAC would approve the loan without problems - and they did (she got a courtesy call today from our salesman letting us know). In the end, she's very happy and has been telling everyone at her job today about her new "Pontiac" (all those damn import humpers!! ). As for the color, initially she wasn't all gaa-gaa about it, preferring the other new-for-2008 color, Performance Red. They didn't have many G6 sedans in that color available (just one, a 1SV Special Value Sedan, and the rest were coupes & convertibles), and since we have a blue AURA she can't have another blue car in the house Once I told her that the White Diamond Tricoat was originally a Cadillac and Oldsmobile Aurora color (she's always liked the Aurora), she began to see the WD in a different way (that is, being more upscale). She was turned off by the regular White they had, saying it was too generic. The car was recently delivered, and as such was covered in road-transit (carrier) dust, grime, and bugs. She can't wait to see it all shined up. I told her that since this car is being financed, I'll clean it again next weekend and wax it to retain that shine throughout the summer months (and many more car washes). All in all, I'm glad she stayed with GM and I'm happy for us/her to be in a Pontiac again (she absolutely loved her 2000 Grand Prix GT sedan that we leased from 2000-2003). I've been a long-time Pontiac fan, and owe it to my mom and her then-brand new 1983 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ (which is what I learned to drive on). I've personally owned a '95 Trans Am T-top coupe and a '99 Grand Am GT1 sedan, and drove the '00 GP on many occasions (it was my love of the 1995 Pontiac 300 GPX concept that turned into a passion for the '97 GP that inspired her her to get the '00 GP). At least my driveway remains all GM yet again. Delivery is in about 12 hours... she can't wait, and I'm excited for her too, but unfortunately I lose the GMC Envoy in the process
  9. If you've been following caddycruiser's thread about his own car buying experiences, you've seen me mention that my wife has also been looking to get out of our Envoy lease (a month & a half early from the termination date, thanks to a GMAC Pull Ahead offer) for a much more economical car choice. Witht he 0% for 72 months deal (which we need to stay in the affordable range), she was motivated to do something by this weekend. Her choice? A 2008 Pontiac G6 V6 Sedan in White Diamond Tricoat and Taupe Leather interior. Here are some <crappy> shots of it at night, as we were leaving the dealership: The window sticker: It was manufactured this month (June '08) and had just 3 miles on the odometer (5 or 6 at the end of our test drive). It literally just came off the carrier within the past week! The otehr G6 (4cyl) she test drove was the same way (door jamb sticker said 06/08, and it too had 3 miles on the odo; btw, she wasn't happy with the 2.4l Ecotec engine and wanted the V6, which I told her she'd want anyway). Our salesman was a funny/goofy guy - he started about a month ago and this was his first actual sale. He said he wished he had brought his digital camera with him to take a picture; I had mine, so I offered (and now have to bring him a cipy at delivery on Saturday, per his request ). Here's the picture, with my ever-so-happy-looking wife ( ): (If she finds out I posted that, she's gonna kill me!!!) The car is equipped with the Chrome Appearance Package, which the factory puts on the chrome door handles and Chrometech rims; the dealer needs to install the upper chrome grilles, the chrome door sills, and chrome exhaust tip still. We're taking delivery on Saturday morning. More and better pictures of this beautiful colored car will be posted sometime Sunday. Derek - yup, we've got cousin cars now!!! Who else here in C&Gland will join this new family???
  10. I'm attaching some pictures of panel trucks I saw recently (Father's Day weekend) in Macungie (PA) Memorial Park at the ATHS (Antique Truck Historical Society) annual truck show. The fourth one was not at the show, but was originally a Civil Defense truck purchased by a fire dept and repainted red.
  11. You beat me to it! I was too busy scratching off lottery tickets to try to win money to buy your Caddy. Alas, no luck Yes, my wife liked the G6 Sedan very much. She started off driving the regular sedan (4cyl) that was loaded up with leather and the preferred convenience package, but she really didn't like how the 4cyl "got up and went" (she last had a 4cyl engine in her '92 Mercury Topaz, that she her mom gave her in '96 and got rid of in '98 for my '92 Cavalier Z24 coupe). Its been over 10 years of nothing but V6 power for her!!! She found a nicely equipped White Diamond Tricoat G6 V6 Sedan that she fell for and we're going for it. Instead of stealing caddycruiser's thunder from his own G6 purchase (and continue 'ing his thread), I'll make a new post in the Lounge for those interested. Anyone that wishes to make a a small or large donation for me to buy caddycruiser's Fleetwood, please PM me for my home address :AH-HA_wink:
  12. The funny thing is the dealer we're going to has three flavors of G6 sedans, ALL in White Diamond Tricoat, for us to consider: #1 - 4cyl @ MSRP $24,550 #2 - V6 @ MSRP $24,570 #3 - GT @ MSRP $27,510 (I know the GT is out of the question price-wise, but I just love the 18" rims that are on it and optional on the GT trim <includes Stabilitrak too>) I told her the same thing about WD that you're sales lady told you - it was an exclusive Caddy color. I've seen this color on the G6 Sedan with the Taupe interior in person and it is sharp and luxurious looking. Hopefully she'll like it (she's never had a white car - in any shade - before, so that will help sell it). Here's the one I've seen at my local BPG dealer before they closed recently: I'll post an update tonight when we get home.
  13. Congrats on going with the new car - you won't regret driving something new and more up-to-date than what you've been use to. Sorry about the front plate mate - good ol' Jersey laws for you!!! Well, we're going to a Pontiac dealer tonight to test drive the G6 Sedan. I played around last night with the concept of getting her the G6 Convertible, but the ones out there all sticker above $30k and thats putting it out of our desired price range. The dealer we're going to has a G6 Sedan (4cyl Ecotec) in White Diamond Metallic with Taupe Leather (heated seats & remote start are the big options she really wants, outside of an AUX INPUT JACK to play her iPod). If the numbers I've played with stay close to what the dealer figures are, and she likes the G6, then we may be the owners of a new G6 Sedan too by the weekend. Cousins - all the way! Now about the Fleetwood...
  14. Well, running some numbers tonight has shown my wife that it may be more beneficial to go with a G6 GT Sedan with 0% interest (or even just a V6-equipped sedan with leather) than going for a Malibu or Vibe GT with 5.9% interest. Of course she needs to drive one first to see if she even likes the G6, and we plan to do this tomorrow night. If she likes it enough to do the deal, and GM adds the Vibe GT to it's incentives after Monday, she'll kill me by running me over with the G6
  15. Hey there pal, just because money comes easily to you and I don't have a pot to pi$$ in ( ), don't ruin my dreams of owning a clean and well-cared for Fleetwood!!! caddycruiser will fall even more in love with the G6 Coupe tomorrow, become desparate to sell the Fleetwood to get his new car by the end of the day, and will find it in his heart to accept my scraping-up-the-pennies offer (I know, keep dreaming Roger!!! ).
  16. $2,000 cash is not out of the questionfor me, if you're serious. I have a wonderful garage space that needs a new tenant since December when the SKY left. You know that the car will be loved, it will never be mistreated (aka donk'd), it will be shown at many, many, many car shows/cruises in the southern NJ area, and my 2 y-o son will absolutely love the thing. Let me know if you're serious about my offer; it would only take me a day or two to arrange to get the cash. Go for the G6 Coupe. I love the all-new Malibu and such, but GM doesn't make that many coupes anymore. The G6 Coupe, even with its flaws, is still a great car. You're at that time in life where you can enjoy a two-door vehicle; I'd love for my wife to get the G6 convertible, but with kids and family hauling needs, it just isn't in the cards. However you can enjoy the car for teh next 3 years, and if you need it then, teh Malibu (or other family sedan) will be waiting for you. If you can handle the payments, go for the new car. You deserve it!
  17. You need the G6 Coupe - there, happy!?!? I like the G6 coupes a lot, though I would rather have the G6 Convertible myself (don't know how much I'd use the top down, but the car looks awesome when all four windows are down and there's no pillar in the way (sorry everyone, I'm having a Sixty8 moment!!!). Before my local BPG dealership closed, they had an awesome G6 V6 sedan in the White Diamond Metallica and Taupe Leather interior. What a great color combination. I've been searching 4cyl G6's for the wife (not to many out there), and I agree with you in the fact too many Pontiac dealers order the Ebony interior. We're going out tomorrow to test drive the G6 sedan to see if my wife likes it. I told her to consider the AURA too, as they qualify for the 0% financing. I inquired about a loaded HHR LT, but she said she can't get over the styling to want one. Typically we'd be leasing the new car too, but with her 64-mile roundtrip commute, we'd be paying about the same monthly payment on a lease (with 20k miles) as we would just owning the darn thing. Good luck thinking over the G6 Coupe deal tonight, and you could have the Caddy sold tomorrow morning if you'd take a $2,000 cash offer from me :AH-HA_wink:
  18. Well, they've been filming in Princeton the last two days, in and around the Princeton University campus. My wife works outside of Princeton & on her lunch break, her & three co-workers went out there to see what they could see. No cars sited, but she called to report that there were two large tractor trailers with their loading ramps extended out. She did get to see Shia LeBouf for about 5 seconds, as he walked out of a building, waved to the crowd, and went into his trailer. They should be in Princetone again tomorrow (Thursday, 6/26). If I could get out there, I would (maybe Friday if they're still shooting there). She said there is a blog report of a Saturn Astra (silver; maybe the 5-door I posted above) that was crashed into a utility pole on Washington Street.
  19. The wife and I discussed the Ford Fusion SE with Sport Appearance Package yesterday... we came to the conclusion that while the Sport Appearance Package adds more flair to the Fusion, and the 0% interest for 60 months is a great benefit, the car itself is not really a standout and gives off a bit of the "boring" attitude I find with the Camry and Accord (and my 2004 Malibu LT). Seeing as how the G6 has the 0% for 72 months offer, she said she'd test drive one this week just to "see what it's like". She likes the VUE out of everything, and it's in the 72-hour sale - BUT, the gas mileage would be against us with her 5 day, 320 mile commute to work routine (not considering weekend usage + other driving needs). I'm still waiting until next week, hoping that the 4th of July incentives extend to the Vibe for her. caddycruiser, I really want your Fleetwood but until the wife gets her new car and my paychecks start again (July; this part of teaching sucks), we have no cash to our name right now and I got the lecture about spending money we don't have AGAIN. Please keep me in mind if it doesn't sell anytime soon :AH-HA_wink:
  20. Let's not forget his gift to automotive fans in the movie CARS (Fillmore):
  21. Wow... 0% for 72 months... that could definitely have me and the wife returning the Envoy for a new 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT (if it's included in the sale) this weekend. The GM Supplier price plus the extra $500 because we're buying over leasing, plus the $1,000 GM Supplier bonus cash, and I think my wife would be eligible for the College Grad $500 bucks (according to the link to the website PCS posted in aother thread, which I need to verify and quickly) - that $2,000 total cash incetive plus the 0% will have us ready to sign on the dotted line ASAP.
  22. Well, I just asked her about the G6 GT sedan and if she would consider it, and her response was "is it a 4 cylinder?". Arrggghhh!!! She thinks anything other than a 4cyl will automatically be a gas guzzler. And she has been driving the AURA (XE/3.5l V6) daily for the last 2 months and she knows that the gas mileage has been decent (avg 26 MPG, range of 325+ miles). But she's been brainwashed by her coworkers that drive little Toyotas that if your car has anything other than a 4cyl engine, you alone are destroying the planet So the GT model is out, and showing her the brochure I have of the interior caused her to say "Malibu, Vibe, or Fusion please". Even more incentive for me to find some extra cash to buy Derek's Fleetwood, drive to her job, and piss off her coworkers with my gas guzzling, battleship-sized tank of a car :AH-HA_wink:
  23. Incentives will be the key deciding factor when making the wife's purchase. As of now, we can get 0% financing up to 5 years on the Ford Fusion; outside of the GM Supplier Pricing discount & GM Supplier + Pull-Ahead incentive, along with the one final Envoy lease payment waived, the '08 Malibu and '09 Vibe offer NADA, zip, zilch, nuttin. I'm hoping that GM & Ford want to move some actual dealer inventory for the 4th of July holiday and offer additional great incentives, like 0% financing for 60 months and some cash rebates <wishful thinking, I'm sure>. We're that ready to buy (well, once she decides on the car she wants!!! ) if the incentives are good. Derek, you're not alone in wanting some incentives to help you make your purchase
  24. So far we've driven the 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT FWD, the 2008 Ford Focus SES sedan, and the 2008 Ford Fusion SE 4cyl. We tried to go to the Chevy dealer last night, but they had closed at 6PM (we were two doors down at the still open Ford dealer right before). We did look at and sit in some unlocked 2008 Malibu's, including the LS, 1LT, and LTZ packaged models. The wife likes the LTZ interior the best, but not the MSRP! So we still need to try out a Malibu, and I've had my eye on a 2008 Pontiac G6 GT sedan in Performance Red for the last two months at a small, local Pontiac dealer; maybe I'll see if she's willing to test drive a G6 (with the 3.5L V6). The Focus is off the list, the Vibe is still her favorite, we don't like the SE model Fusion - however, they have a SE with a Sport Appearance Package that she does like and it addresses some of the issues she had with the regular SE verison. Today at the All-GM Nationals show in Carlisle, Chevy offered test drives and I took out the 2LT 4cyl Malibu. While I prefer the 3.5L V6 in my AURA better, the 2.4L 4cyl was decent (now it's up to teh wife to see for herself since she didn't go with me today). She likes the Vibe GT's performance and price <$21k>; I'd rather spend a little more and get a little bit bigger car with nicer features (Fusion SE Sport Appearance <$22k> or Malibu 2LT <$24k>). And I haven't even factored in the G6 GT sedan yet to the mix!!! Derek, what's wrong with the Fleetwood (if anything)? Does it need any work, cosmetic, mechanical, etc? Feel free to PM this info if you don;t want to post it out here in the public's view. I saw at Carlisle today a beautiful dark cherry FTW Brougham and I couldn't stop thinking about your car being available for sale. I'm not making any promises, but you know how much I've always wanted one (look at all the PM's I've sent you over the last year alone on local ones I've found for sale!) and seeing as how the wife will be getting her new car soon, maybe I can play with some figures to see if I have anyway possible to buy your Caddy. It would be garage kept and used for family trips and anytime I want to drive a tank. The fact my dad agreed with me today that the FTW is a beautiful "tank of a car" when the FTW drove by us, and the uncanny coincidence that I was surrounded by three - yes, three! - FTW's while out last weekend on Father's Day, maybe it's a sign? The FTW does run on regular gas, right???
  25. You shouldn't have - the weather was sunny with clear, blue skies and little white puffy clouds (some even looked like bunnies! ), I will try to post some pictures soon, once I've had the chance to download my camera.
