  1. Well, those were two different displays (base V6 without radio upgrade; V6 with radio upgrade & GT). I'll go out on a limb and say that if the base radio remains then the display remains too; unless the upgraded radio for V6 models is now the standard radio? There was an '09 base V6 on the lot, though I didn;t think about this to check it out.
  2. Orange is done with for '09; I like the liquid red though - ever since I laid eyes on the '88 Banshee concept car I wanted a Pontiac in bright red (well, my '99 Grand Am GT was bright red)... I'd want a personalized plate that says "BANSHEE" if I go with red though! White was my #1 choice, closely followed by Liquid Red, when the G8 first hit the lots earlier this year. Here's a picture I used as my desktop background until recently (the side profile picture of the Pacific Slate Metallic G8 now has that honor): Just as much as I've liked bright red on Pontiacs, I've liked bright white even more (it all began when Pontiac offered white rims on the '92 Bonneville SSEi and '92 Grand Am GT, continued with the '94 Trans Am 25th Anniversary Edition and then I really wanted a '97-'99 Grand Prix GTP Sedan in white with white rims <I pass by one on my way to work>). While it may not be "in style" today, I still like white rims on a white car. However, the Pacific Slate Metallic has replaced my desire for a white G8 (if I were to buy a new Sierra, it would be in a similar color - Stealth Gray Metallic).
  3. What's the name of said dealership? I'd like to check out their website and see this car.
  4. Welcome back Fly! You've sure been a busy fellow the past several months. BTW, what are they asking for the '90 Chevy 454SS???
  5. Hey, you should know - it is YOUR truck afterall!!
  6. As much as I'd like a GMC Truck next November (and I know that brand is not safe either), I'm thinking I should buy a brand new Pontiac G8 while I can. It seems as if GM will remove the only true Pontiacs (G8 & Solstice) in the very near future and bring the '80s back by offering mildly rebadged Chevies as Pontiacs
  7. I will say for the most part many of the Pontiac dealers I've seen G8s at in NJ do not put those God-awful tape pinstripes on them. The first Pacific Slate Metallic & Sport Red ones were taken at Lester Glenn BPG in Toms River and they are the first dealer I've seen to put them on G8s (along with every other new BPG on the lot). Even the BPG dealer we've purchased our Envoy & G6 from that stripes all new cars, the G8s are the exception there. I've settled with the stripes on our Envoy & my AURA because those two cars were dealer-traded and my wife liked the stripes; otherwise, I'd have had them removed prior to delivery (her G6 has them too). My next vehicle will not, as I like a clean looking vehicle (unless the stripes are part of a factory-installed package that is).
  8. I can attest to the exhaust system being a great one... you should really hear it - the sound of that V8 purring while just sitting there is almost orgazmic. Okay, I really need to get back into a truck ASAP. It's been two months now and I'm officially in truck withdrawl
  9. Ah, blu's truck is a real beauty. I have pictures of it from the small gathering last August at Camino's barn; enjoy! (*Note: blu, I hope you don't mind me posting these pics; if you do, let me know and I'll delete this post)
  10. Here's more pictures of the 2009 G8 GT in Pacific Slate Metallic (my favorite G8 car by far) in the bright sunlight:
  11. Here's several more pictures of a 2009 Stryker Blue G8 GT: And after seeing the car above in the sunlight, I agree with sixty8 that it is very reminiscent of the '90s bright electric blue color. I recall drooling over my Pontiac dealership's '98 Grand Prix Daytona Pace Car replica in a shade of blue similar to the Stryker Blue:
  12. I attended a classic car show at a Buick-Pontiac-GMC dealership yesterday and one of their 2009 G8 GT was open, so I decided to check out the "new shelf" for myself. I took three pictures: The first one is of the shelf (it does have a little rubber mat in it to prevent items from moving): The second one has my car & house keys in it for perspective (if you have the same GM key fob, you'll see just how deep it really is): And the third picture has my cell phone in it, as that's what I'd likely keep there, and maybe my iPod too:
  13. I've been facing the reality that I may not have my teaching job when this new school year ends. With cuts at Fort Dix & McGuire Air Force bases, less aid from the state of NJ to my school district, and enrollment dropping, word last May was that next summer won't be that great for many of the newer teachers at my school (less than 10 years of employment; this is #7 for me) and especially those that teach electives, like I do, and not core academic classes. My wonderful ( ) supervisor and building principal let me know in early June that my program could be consolidated with the other two exisiting programs and my job eliminated to save money - how nice is that to hear? All this after I finally sign my '08/'09 contract making the most I've ever made, and as an 11-month employee too (means I get paid year-round too). So I pretty much told the wife that April or May 2009 may bring bad news, which has come back to haunt me all sumer long from her. Even though I love teaching, I'm thinking of leaving this field for good if I lose my job again (I was part of a massive cut from another high school I worked at for two years; I don't like not knowing if I'll have a job or not every year). Blu, I feel for you and know what it's like trying to make cut-backs. The wife and I began making changes & cuts this time last summer, and we still need to find more ways to cut spending and reduce our debt. God only knows what will happen if I lose my job next summer.
  14. I had the opportunity to drive my mom's 2005 VUE AWD V6 last week - 56k on the odo and too many squeeks and rattles for my tastes. I tried to convince her at the time to go for the Equinox, but the deal on the VUE was hard to beat (she had a coupon from QVC for a $1,000 cash rebate PLUS a free 5 year/60k bumper-to-bumper warranty, plus the Saturn dealer gave more for her trade and lowered the price of the VUE). It's beenpaid off since February, and my dad's G6 has two more years left until it's paid off, so she'll continue to drive it regardless as they don't want car payments. As much as a rattletrap it is, she hasn't complained once about it to me.
  15. ASAP? It clearly states in the article that the parts will be available in October... like it's snowing in most of the states listed RIGHT NOW. Come on!! I have three friends that will be affected by this recall, but snow in southern NJ isn't in the cards until December the earliest. I guess Anita gets paid for creating chaos - imagine all of the dealers that will be inundated with phone calls within the next couple of weeks
  16. Four years ago I decided to grow a beard again - last time I did I was in college and I was 21 or 22 years old. I've occasionally had a goatee, but I don't like my face "clean shaven". Since my bald spot was growing and a "horseshoe" was becoming more prevalent, I decided that a full but trimmed beard would complete the look . I look older than what I am regardless, so I didn't care if the beard made me look any older. Only once in the past four years did I shave it off, and that was a mistake IMHO and the next week it was back on it's way. I will trim back the beard once every 3-4 weeks to keep it short and simple - I'm not going for the Grizzly Adams look by no means! I attached a picture of me & my beard from this past June (I don't have too many pictures of myself!).
  17. I forgot about these cars. I saw only one, back around '90 or '91, in Lancaster with Canadian plates on it. Being that the Internet wasn't around widespread, it would be a few years before I found info on this Tempest (platfrom mate to the Corsica). I had two friends that owned Corsicas, one a '88 and the other a '91, and I liked the Pontiac Tempest look a little better. Sorry to go off-topic here!
  18. While it may not be perfect in everyone's opinion, I personally think it's much better looking than the current Cobalt sedan (though I do agree that the taillights look too Korean/Japanese in style).
  19. My neighbors, the Ford Fanatics, own two 2005 Fords - he owns a 500 Limited and she owns a Freestyle Limited. Both are up in mileage (highway driving to work), I'd say around 50-60k and both have been reliable cars for them. Her biggest complaint with teh Freestyle is that it goes through brakes. He's had it back to the dealer three times now (her car is closer to 60k). We've travelled in the Freestyle to HersheyPark (a 2-hour ride) - the wife & I in the middle row, our son & theirs in the back row (the little guy was with the grandparents for the day) - and it was a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Best of luck to you & the wife with the new car and many happy motoring miles!!
  20. To see the 18" steel rim for the 2010 Camaro, click here.
  21. Hope you have a great day!!!
  22. I feel that way too. I had a problem with one of my teeth, that wasn't really bothering me much, and after the examination I now have sensitivity in that area (the dentist was poking around a lot with the pick too-thingy in that area!).
  23. In that Camaro survey that some of us got to, it showed a picture of the 18" steel rim. I have the picture saved on my home computer, so I'll share it later this afternoon.
  24. Double the wishes, double the fun - Happy Birthday guys!!!
