  1. 2010 Chevrolet Equinox: 2010 GMC Terrain: The Chevy's taillights are similar to the VUE and a little Vibe-ish, whereas the GMC seems to have longer, Buick-ish like taillights.
  2. The same Pull Ahead Program for the past three months? Try the past 2-3 years!! The last "good" pull-head I got was in August, 2005 when we were able to get out of our Rendezvous lease 5 months early (it was to expire in January '06; it was a 6-month pull ahead offer at the time). After the summer 2005 "Employee Pricing For All" deal, GMAC pulled so many people out way too early (in their view) that they instituted the new 2-month pull-ahead program and have kept that ever since. However, GM dealers must have a way to work with GMAC, as we started shopping in February (Envoy lease was due in August) and almost all of the dealers we talked to said that they'd be able to get us out of the lease if we bought new and not to "worry" about the lousy 2-month offer. We waited regardless for the incentives to get better - we took the June deal of 0% for 72 months, got GM Supplier Pricing (the wife's company is eligible), and were entitled to a $2,000 rebate to boot for having a GMAC Lease. I think waiting until the summer paid off for us Sorry to see that GM/GMAC pissed you off, hopefully something works out for you soon and you'll continue to be a satisfied GM owner (suggestion - try talking to the dealer about the '07 models you're interested in and see what they can work out with GMAC).
  3. Yeah, from the camo'ed spy shots it does look like the tailights are a different shape from the Equinox too, and overall the Terrain looks "truckier" (aka boxy).
  4. That's one lllooonnnggg El Camino!! Ummm... there's nothing that you could give me to drive out there and look at that thing in person! Ring... Ring... Ring... Hello? "Hi. It's 1989 calling..." Oh, you'd like your abomination back? No problem!
  5. Personally, I can't wait to see the official release photos of the 2010 GMC Terrain (I am disappointed that GM showed the Chevy Equinox and not the GMC Terrain too). Right now the Pontiac Torrent and Saturn VUE are on the top of my shopping list for next November when the AURA lease expires. Both have their pros and cons with me, and I can overlook some of them with the addition of the GMC model. On a side note, I've noticed that the Terrain does have a different frontend design over the Equinox, one IMHO that looks a little Sierra-based:
  6. caddycruiser, I never voted the other day when you posted this but I voted now and it was for the 2LT V6. A neighbor of mine has one in the ocean mist color and I like the way the car looks with the old 'bu SS rims. When I was trying to sell the wife on a Malibu before she chose the G6, I really wanted her to get a 2LT (although she would have not choosen the 3.6L V6 sport package). It's a shame what happened to you with the G6 Coupe, but atleast GM came through for you and you only had to endure 3 months of the G6 and it's many problems. Here's to wishing a much more pleasant ownership experience with the Malibu!!
  7. Well, they do... as long as you order a 2500HD or a 3500HD (the LY6 Vortec 6.0L V8 is the standard engine in these two models, with the 6.6L Duramax Diesel as an option). However, I know what you meant and GM should offer the LY6 6.0L in the 1500 Regular Cab as a throwback to the old Custom Camper models offered in the '60s and '70s. As for the diesel engine option, that's coming for 2010 (I think) and hopefully GM will allow the 1500 Regular Cab models this option. As for the 454 V8 being offered on the '90-'93 454SS models, that really doesn't apply as that was a "sport" model of a regular cab... meaning you had no option but to get the highest trim level, a short bed, and only 2WD. If you wanted a 454 V8 in a regular or extended cab, longbed, 2WD or 4WD truck back then, your only option was to upgrade to the 2500 or 3500 series trucks. I personally think the '94-'96 Impala SS model ranks up there. Not saying that the '50s and '60s ones that have been mentioned aren't worthy, I just think at the time those Impalas made an impact not seen since the '60s Impalas.
  8. You're welcome! :AH-HA_wink: I completely understand where you're coming from blu. I may have that second income in my life, but the way things are going with my career (my future not known after June 30, 2009), that's what's stopping me in my tracks right now. I played around with some numbers myself on a leftover 2008 Sierra SLE2 Extended Cab 4WD and it would cost me about a $100 bucks more per month than my AURA lease, but requires taking an 84-month loan (7 years!). I'd have the vehicle I want, but after June 30th will I still be able to afford it, especially for 7 years? I completely hate that the vehicle I really want is totally out of my grasp again (the future of gas prices, the unknown certainty of my career, and the financial mess we're in are putting those dreams on hold). At least you knew that you'd find something that would satisfy you on today's market. If the Canyon had a roomier crew cab (ever sit in the back seat?), some options added to it (like iPod/AUX jack, remote start, and an interior that isn't designed by Fisher Price), I could probably be happy with that. I like the interior of the Hummer H3 and H3T, but they approach Sierra pricing territory and I'd rather have the Sierra. I love the G8, but know I'd not be 100% happy because it's a car and not a truck. The Torrent & VUE are nice, same with the Acadia and OUTLOOK, but again I'd still not be 100% happy with my purchase. Maybe I'll buy a moped until the future gets brighter again!!!
  9. Congrats on the new car purchase there blu! I hope unlike me, you don't go into truck withdrawl after a month or so (I've been driving the AURA every day now for the last three months - the longest period I've driven a car since June of 2005 ). I'm in such withdrawl that I've been cruising the used online websites almost weekly looking for a truck to buy Anyway, the Cobalt sounds great and as you've already stated, you'll be benefiting from this car pretty much right away. Are you planning to attend Hershey this year? I'd like to check out the ride if we all meet up again. And as a final farewell, here's the picture I've been admiring for over a year now of your beloved Sierra : (I still remember the sweet sound of the V8 & the custom exhaust you added to it ) May it serve its new owner well and I'm wishing you many happy and enjoyable motoring miles in the new Chevy!
  10. About every other week or so I cruise some online car buying websites looking to see what decent used GMCs are for sale. Wishing that I had the extra cash, or at least had an easy and quick way to get out of the AURA lease, most of the time I just "daydream" about buying one of the many trucks I've found. Yesterday I' was a little bored so I cruise on over to one of the used car buying sites and search '99-'02 GMC Sierras. I found this one: 2001 GMC Sierra SLE Regular Cab, Shortbed K1500 It's what I've always wanted (well, if it had the sportside bed option it'd really be perfect) - regular cab, shortbed, K1500 (4WD) SLE with tons of factory options (foglights, chrome rims, autotrac 4WD, two-tone paint with wheel flares, etc). The mileage is excellent for it being an 8 year old truck (43,200 original miles), only two owners, and from the several pictures that were included, looks to be in top-notch shape. The asking price? $14,000!!! They're out of their freakin' minds. When I contacted the dealership about the truck & it's price (the website stated it's been in inventory since March 17!), the salesperson replied that this truck is "beyond greatness" for it's age and should be selling for more. This allows me to move onto the inflated price - I stated that I did some research on the price and it shouldn't be selling for over $10k. Miffed, he says all he could do to lower the price is give me the Internet coupon discount of $250. What?!?! It's been sitting on their lot going into 7 months, has had only 10 views since March on this car site, and all he'll do is take a measly couple of hundred bucks off??? I told him if he's serious about selling this truck to talk to his manager about lowering it several thousand dollars more and to call me back. Needless to say, I haven't heard back. I could see them asking almost as high of a price a year ago when gas prices weren't as high and used trucks were in demand. But truck demand has decreased and other GMCs that I found a couple of months ago are now being lowered to try to move them (I still see that they're listed online, but now with price reductions). This is at a north Jersey dealership and a Nissan dealer to boot, so maybe they feel they can get more. If I wanted to spend $14k on a used truck, I'd be looking for something newer than this. Am I the problem here?
  11. Actor Paul Newman passed away Friday at the age of 83. http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/ap/2008092...2253216000.html RIP "Doc Hudson"
  12. Anyone have any new or updated information on the 2010 GMC Terrain to share? I watched the video on the Edmunds link above and it stated that we'll see the GMC Terrain at a 2009 <unspecified> auto show with an on-sale date of Fall, 2009. I'm just curious if there's been any new developments with this vehicle. TIA!

  14. Since my school blocks craiglist, can someone tell me what YJ is getting, other than just OLDSMOBILE and CUTLASS? TIA!!
  15. A very belated to you Cort!!!
  16. Yes, I've cut back this past summer on most of the long-distance car & truck shows I usually attend, focusing on attending more local ones instead and picking out the ones farther ones that I know were "good ones". We didn't travel as much this summer (like day & overnight trips, such as to amusement parks & the NJ shore) as in past summers. However, now that the Envoy is gone, I can travel to long-distance car shows and still have half a tank of gas leftover for a couple of days worth of going to work (with the Envoy, a trip to Hershey & back would use 3/4's of the tank; going to Carlisle I'd come back just about empty). We have combined short trips (errands) to make the most out of our gas use. Unfortunately, the wife's 32-mile one-way commute to work can't be changed, so she's been using the same amount of gas as before the summer, it's the weekend use that has been cut back.
  17. It's definitely one beautiful station wagon. Too bad it will be out of my price range For those of you saying that this is why the G8 Sportwagon isn't going to be offered, have you forgotten about the scale of economies? I'd love to own a station wagon, much more than a sedan. But this Caddy will be priced too far out of my affordable range, so that leaves me with what other option? Since GM is being boneheaded and not offering the G8 Sportwagon here (I can't see why a few Holden estates can't be adapted like the sedans were for Pontiac), I guess I have no mid- to large-size wagon offerings to choose from with GM that I can afford. The CTS wagon will do well for GM/Cadillac no doubt, but GM shouldn't be so single-minded in this market. I say bring on the G8 Sportwagon and let the market decide if it will surviive.
  18. Damn ocn... you better be ready to do something about this tomorrow. You know the saying... "Cash talks, B------t walks!" Don;t let this slip away. That kid will more than likely destroy such a well-kept vehicle. Even I have $600 to my name that I could buy the car with... just saying! :AH-HA_wink:
  19. I wonder how many H3T pickups will actually be sold in 2009??? What a way to launch a new vehicle Maybe I can get a brand new one real cheap next summer? FIRE SALE!!
  20. Oh if GM could have given Pontiac some money back in the late '80s/early '90s: 1986 Pontiac Trans Sport - When did GM lose their focus with the Dustbuster vans??? The '86 TranSport concept, even though it was still a bubble, was 10x better looking than what actually arrived in 1990 (admittedly, I do like the '90-'93 Trans Sport). I feel if GM spent just a little more money on the Dustbuster vans to make them more like the concept, sales would have been better. 1989 Pontiac Stinger - Take the Chevy/GEO Tracker and rebody it to look like the Stinger concept. While different enough from the Chevy/GEO version, it could have added a youthful, fun and adventurous vehicle to Pontiac's lineup while not totally being too "trucky". 1990 Pontiac Sunfire - GM should have partnered Pontiac with Saturn for the Sunfire... Pontiac was showcasing the quarter doors long before Saturn got the use of it for the SC Coupe. Pontiac could have put a new metal body on the SC chasis to give a different take instead of using the Cavalier. 1991 Pontiac ProtoSport4 - If GM would have given Pontiac a little more money for the 4-door W-body program, why couldn't this have inspired the new-for'90 Grand Prix sedan? It's definitely sporty than the tall sedan we actually got. Okay, I'm doing my "armchair" CEO'ing, but here are some exceptional Pontiac concept cars that would have been great as production cars. Instead, in the '90s we got warmed-over, generic shared-GM vehicles. With a little extra money spent on Pontiac, their lineup could have been better in my opinion.
  21. What showcar was that PCS??? I like the production Volt, even though I prefer the boxier styling of the concept car more. I think the "vanilla" styling will work well with the masses... especially since all those boring Japanese cars seem to sell so well
  22. Apparently Dr. Suess got his start by writing rhyming script for Chevrolet ads in the '50s! I've seen this a while back... it was nice seeing it again. I'd happily take that '57 Cameo Carrier BTW!
  23. Boy, this car and it's luxury features sure would have made for a nice new Buick flagship model here in the good ol' US of A.
  24. Well, in North America what else is rebadged using the Holden? Nada! So to North America it is a unique Pontiac, and it's a car that one could only buy if they lived in Austrailia, the Middle East, and Europe. Also, I agree with gm4life that it is a true Pontiac in spirit (however, in my opinion, it is what a Pontiac should be - a performance sedan for the average consumer to obtain).
  25. saturnd00d, I actually prefer the storage space to the digital gauges. I was just providing some 'FYI' on the new change for 2009 by taking some pictures to illustrate how deep the space is. Regardless, I'd still buy a G8 whether it had the digital gauges or the storage space! :AH-HA_wink:
