  1. 2009 Pontiac G5 GT Coupe in Performance Red Metallic: - - OR - - 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT in Hot Red:
  2. Finances dictate that we consider a small, fuel-efficient vehicle if we go new (depending on the incentives GM offers and if I'm part of the pull-ahead program with my lease this month). Feel free to post your explanation after you vote, if you'd like.
  3. Nice car and a rare one too. I disagree with you PCS, I like that dash design (of course I'm biased, as my mom had a '83 GP LJ and explains why I want to find one of my own now <well, I found one, just have to hit the lottery to get it!!>). I really like the '86 1/2 GP 2+2 and it would be a cool collectible car to take to shows.
  4. Where do I sign up for that???
  5. So, hopefully by this time next week we will get to see official pictures of the GMC Terrain since it's expected to make its debut at the NYIAS. Well, that is unless GM has changed their mind again
  6. Hmm... this could be helpful to some people here on C&G who need to replace their upcoming lease return vehicle and may not have a job come this summer...
  7. reg, better check the fine print on the Ford offer. I just recently received my $50 card from the Philly Auto Show and my wife was unable to process hers (she was told only one issued per household). I doubt Ford will issue you two, one from Ford and one from Mercury. Try it though if you want; however, I'll be pissed if it works since they denied my wife's request.
  8. I don't think that the Mack Bulldog ornament is used as a "hood pull" on UPS trucks. It was fairly recent that UPS allowed Mack Trucks to install the bulldog ornament on their trucks... for years & years UPS Mack tractors did not come with the bulldog ornament. According to the tour guide at the Mack "Macungie Assembly Operations" plant I had last year for my student's tour, he stated that "UPS does not want any manufacturer's names or emblems installed on their vehicles as they do not want to advertise for those comapnies". He went on to say that it's Macks's company policy/tradition to have the bulldog on every Mack truck built and it was negotiated with UPS that all new Mack trucks will have the bulldog installed. So if the info he stated is true, then that could explain why the Caravan has no ornamentation. Just my :twocents: being put in here!!
  9. I like the idea of making the Hx a Chervy or GMC variant, and even if the Hx had to go with the buyer of the Hummer brand, GM could still eventually offer it's own brand-influenced design on that platform. Also, I think the H3T has some value too. I think GM should look at it for either Chevy and/or GMC, rebodied and slightly toned-down a bit of course, as it's new mid-size/compact truck offering.
  10. Hope that your birthday is a great & memorable one. Happy Birthday!!
  11. to you PCS. Feel free to drive the GMC Terradyne to NJ for me as your going-away present from GM. I'll meet you on the Delaware side of the Delaware Memorial Bridge to take "ownership" of it from you. Hahahaha!!
  12. One of the under $25k vehicles I am considering for my AURA lease replacement is the HHR. Here's what I've found that caught my attention ('09 HHR 2LT in Imperial Blue Metallic with gray interior, the 2.4L 4 cyl 2LT package, and the Chrome Pakage; just missing the leather/heated seats option to make it perfect): However, my wife does not like the styling of HHR at all - and friends that went to the Philly Auto Show with us, the wife feels the same way about the HHR too (the husband says it's okay, but it's not his 'thing'). I like it much better than my wife's preferred wagonish car - the Pontiac Vibe GT. Only time will tell what ends up in my driveway though!
  13. Any idea of the changes being made for 2010, and when they will go on sale???
  14. Congrats on the new-to-you car BV. While it may not be what you want, at least it should be reliable enough to get you to more destinations. While I initially liked my first car - a '78 Chevy Camaro LT (in September '92) - once I saw that a majority of my fellow classmates were buying cars made in the late '80s/early '90s, I began to dread driving my car. But now 15-16 years later I look back on the time I had that car, the places it took me, and I miss it. Let me know how it performs - I'm assuming it has the 2.2L 4cyl engine. The wife wants us to look into either a G5 or Cobalt (well, she likes the look of the G5 GT, but it'd be more practical to get a Cobalt Sedan), so let me know your thoughts and opinions on how this car is to live with on a daily basis.
  15. I actually like the hood scoops and the way they aid in the agressive styling of the car without going too boy-racer or over-the-top (like those whale-tail spoilers). However, it would have been better if there was a dealer-installed option for ram air to make those hood scoops functional. I loved the '95 Pontiac 300 GPX concept's hood scoops and was hoping that the new-for-1997 Grand Prix was going to get them as an option. I know after-market handled that, but I still liked the look of the car with those scoops.
  16. Does anyone know what's going on with the Astra in the States? I'd like to consider an Astra XR 5-door, but I'm not thrilled about buying a "2008" model this far into 2009!!
  17. One of my favorite pictures of the 2009 Pontiac G8 GT:
  18. Thanks Camino and ocnblu for your words of encouragement. I know a lot of people are in the same position - many for much longer now - and I hope that the economy picks up soon and all of us in this boat get rescued ASAP. I did get an e-mail the other day from another BPG dealership I've e-mailed in the past that I just read today saying that GMAC is offering a 5-payment pull-ahead offer for current GMAC SmartLease customers. I do have 7 payments left, but maybe if I get out of the AURA and into something a little cheaper, I can use the money savings towards a loan for the '87 GP? I know it's not the smartest thing to do, but I do want this GP and I've been having a hard time accepting defeat here. Of course cheaper would mean a base '09 G5 Coupe or '09 Vibe.. but the wife likes both of those cars anyway, so if I make a deal with her to get the Vibe she's always wanted, I get the '87 GP and the G6 to drive!
  19. Well, according to the July, 2002 archive posts, I joined C&G on March 16, 2002. I missed my anniversary date by about 8/9 days now, but it has definitely been an interesting seven years. Happy Anniversary to ME!!
  20. If there was enough money in my bank account each month, I'd go out now and buy a G8 GT model
  21. Well, I received word last Friday that I will be laid-off from my job at the end of June (June 24th, to be exact). So the little bit of money I have saved up will not be going towards this car, as I can't take on a loan for the remaining amount I would need to purchase the car. Plus taking on more debt when income coming in has stopped is not the best plan. I e-mailed the owner last Friday and he replied yesterday hoping things go well for me because he wants the car to go to a good home That Saturday I went to see it, the owner said he expected between $4,000 and $4,500 for it - if he were to take $2k I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. I still have to figure out how I'm going to pay the mortgage, utilitity bills, two car payments, already amassed debt, food and whatever else needs to be paid if unemployment doesn't help cover what my wife brings home and hope that a decent paying job is in my near future.
  22. Camino, I know you said no truck as you already have the Silverado 2500 HD, but last weekend I saw this sitting on a local Chevy dealer's lot (leftover 2008 model): Seeing as how you're not in any rush to purchase, and GM's empty purse not allowing for drastic changes to be made anytime soon, I'm sure this look will be around for another 2-3 years. Of course you don't have to get a 4WD model, a 2WD would look just as good. And though the sportside bed isn't offered anymore, the body stampings Chevy uses on the Silverado give the bed the look of a sportside model. Plus you could always make a "SS" model out of this truck too :AH-HA_wink:
  23. Well the info/tip from the union rep was right on the money. At 1:30 PM this afternoon I was called to the principal's office where I was told that my position was eliminated from next year's budget (along with 4 other teachers) and I will be laid-off effective the end of June. The "official" paperwork will come towards the end of next month, but the "courtesy meeting" was to give me a leg up on the job hunt. So it goes...
  24. Croc, I know you weren't deriding it, anmd I agree with your styling observation - it's a baby Acadia with a Sierra-inspired frontend (or just headlights, since the front hasn't been shown uncamo'ed yet). I wasn't singling you out. So far I like it more than the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, and I saw that in person at the Philly Auto Show in February and I do like it too. I can' wait to see the Terrain in person at the NYIAS next month!!
  25. Well I found out today from someone high up in the union ranks that the central administration of my school district is busy preparing their list of teachers to lay-off. The bad news? The central administration will be presenting the list to the Board of Education members at this Thurday night's meeting. Once the teachers on the list have been approved by the BOE members, lay-off notices will be issued starting on Friday. Now I was not told this because my name is or isn't on the list, I just happened to be talking to this union rep about another issue yesterday and this tidbit of info was included in their response to me. So we''ll see what news Friday has to offer, and in the meantime I'm shelving the purchase of that great '87 Pontiac GP I've been wanting
