  1. I still believe that the Acadia was supposed to be a Pontiac until the very last minute, and the only thing changed was the grille. Red interior lighting, the taillamp design, and some other styling features of the Acadia say "Pontiac" to me. I wish some insider would confirm this for me, and it would be great if there were pictures to back it up too.
  2. Yeah, I am naturally a patient person but when it comes to cars I sometimes lack enough patience to continue to hold out until the right time You make total sense and I have been looking at this car for two months without going crazy. And while I love Bonneville SSEi's of this generation, buying a nine-year old car and financing it for 3 more years doesn't make the best financial sense (especially since I'd be low on emergency cash in case repairs pop up too). What usually helps when I find a vehicle I like but can't get is by going and seeing it in person (on Sundays) and taking some pictures. But with the Internet and searching outside of a short-distance drive, like with this Bonneville, it makes it hard to satisfy that curiousity. I guess posting about it here and having people tell me to pass has been the best medicine. However, if the price was much lower and I had the cash to buy it outright, I think I'd be driving an SSEi about now :AH-HA_wink: Thanks for the advice Z-06
  3. I'd need to take a 36 month loan in order to be able to afford it. Financing a car that is 9 years old and being 12 when it's paid off doesn't sit right. Downside is the price at this point (the reason I haven't pursued it any further) - they're asking $9,500 for it Some online pricing research shows that it should be retailing for $7500, on average. I'm wondering if they put some additional reconditioning money into and are trying to recoup it through teh selling price. I haven't found any comparable SSEi models, but I did find a 2002 SLE model that is well equipped and has 80K and it was selling for $7,500. Of course the SLE lacks the supercharged engine, some SSEi-specific options (like HUD), has 10k more miles, but is 2 years newer. I like the SLE model, but prefer the SSEi more and would rather have that. Of course if I wanted to spend more money per month, I have found a couple of 2005 Bonneville GXP models (man I'd love a V8-powered Bonneville!! ).
  4. It has a 99 day/3300 mile warranty against powertrain failure. Nothing too great, I know, and one reason why I'm cautious about buying it.
  5. Thanks for posting all of those wonderful Pontiac pictures ocnblu... I especially like the '77/'78 Trans Am S/E and the '64 station wagon. However, all of the pictures/cars are great looking.
  6. A BPG dealer I've had contact with over the past 5-6 months regarding some of their used/GM Certified inventory has had the following 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi sedan available for the past two months now: It has a tad less than 71k original miles on it, is a fully loaded SSEi model, and from the pictures and e-mails I've received from the sales lady, the car is in excellent condition for its age. The price they're asking is a little high IMO, but as with all used cars I'm sure it could be negotiated to something better. What I'd like to know is if it would be a smart decision to purchase a 9 year-old car like this, especially since a 24-36 month loan would be needed to buy the car. I'm not saying I will buy this or not regardless of the advice/info, but I would like to get as many PROs and CONs from the knowledgable base here at C&G on this particular year & model Pontiac.
  7. None of the three Chevies I've owned were 'SS' models, though one was a 'Z' model ('92 Cavalier Z24).
  8. None of the three Chevies I've owned were 'SS' models, though one was a 'Z' model ('92 Cavalier Z24).
  9. and to you sir on your 21st birthday! I hope it's a fun and memorable one - but also a safe one too!
  10. Start posting those Pontiac pictures ocnblu!! Time's a wasting.
  11. Please ocn, post those Pontiac pictures. Even though the haters outnumber the Pontiac Enthusiasts here, do it for those of us still in pain over the loss of our favorite brand/division.
  12. A plane? Like a real, people-carrying airplane? More details, please!
  13. Although you saw the truck in person and know 100x more than I do about mechanical conditions, I too am not getting a good vibe from the three pictures you posted (though I do trust your judgment and believe what you've stated about its condition). I noticed the flat-black grille right off the bat, the crooked passenger side mirror (if I'm not mistaken, and I'm pretty sure I'm 100% correct here, those types of mirrors were standard '92-'94 and the black plastic mirrors started in '95), the aftermarket-looking fender flares (though I do know that GM offered them as factory options), and the underside coloring of the hood are what make me cautious. Like Satty already stated, you want to be careful with someone else's wiring manners (haphazardly placed speakers). As for another detail wrong - the hubcap covers should be solid and not have the exposed lug nuts. Am I right?
  14. Am I the only one seeing red X's instead of pictures of the new diecast cars??? And like you Sixty8, I too have been waiting forever (10 years now since the JL Syclones first came out) for a GMC Typhoon. I've got just about all of the JL Syclone releases, except for the last issue (which looks the most stock of them all). Of course I can juts buy it on eBay, but there's no fun in that (I like the hunt at car & toy shows).
  15. AND to you today!!
  16. Good luck! I've been following this thread closely, waiting for this guy to return your call and for you to finally see it. If possible, take some pictures and post them here. I know you really want one of these two-door full-size SUVs, so hopefully something works out for you. I still keep my eyes open for a '92-'97 GMC Yukon 2-door for myself... nothing lately, but I check online auto sites at least once a week.
  17. Visit this link (to GMC.com's official Terrain page) to see the names of the colors to be offered and a cheesy look at what they will look like on the Terrain.
  18. I like the Terrain in the darker colors myself, even if the Carbon Metallic is the only darker color shown so far. I can't wait to see it in the dark red and a dark blue.
  19. A lot of the Ford dealerships here in southern NJ have been combining with Lincoln-Mercury. That means a lot of the Lincoln-Mercury and/or Ford dealerships are closing and merging with one lot. For example, Holman Ford (Rt 73, Mount Laurel) moved 2 miles away to the Holman Lincoln-Mercury dealership lot (Rt 38 in Maple Shade), and Burlington Lincoln-Mercury (Rt 130, Burlington City) moved 10-15 miles away to Miller Ford (Rt 38, Mount Holly). Don't think Ford is alone in this either - Village Chrysler/Jeep (small-town dealership in Pemberton <Fort Dix>) closed and the franchise moved to Lucas Dodge 8 miles away (Rt 38, Mount Holly); the Triboro Jeep franchise (Rt 130 in Delran) moved 5 miles north to Dodge City (Rt 130 in Willingboro), and a stand-alone Chrylser dealership in Willingboro moved to Dodge City 2 miles north. The Triboro Pontiac franchise was moved 10-15 miles away to F.C. Kerbeck (Rt 73 in Palmyra), several Chevy franchises closed and/or merged with other Chevy dealers (Patterson Cehvrolet, Rt 33 in Hamilton Twp, there since 1933, closed & merged with Superior Chevrolet on Rt 1 North in Lawrenceville); the following have closed within the past 6-12 months: Weed Chevrolet/Bristol, PA; 73 Chevrolet/Berlin, NJ; Brandow Chevrolet/Florence, NJ. So you have to travel 15-20 miles in some cases for dealership service (referencing southern NJ, not anywhere else), it's not really that big of a deal for these owners. If fewer dealerships mean better sales & service for the customer with the remaining dealerships, who's gonna complain???
  20. And thanks BrewSwillis for not only posting that you saw the Terrain in white, but for getting a picture of it too. I can't wait to see the other colors it will come in, especially the new dark red (Chevy calls it Merlot Metallic <I think> on the 2010 Equinox). So that brings the color count to three righht now that the Terrain has been photographed in: Carbon Flash Metallic, Quicksilver Metallic, and Summit White:
  21. Yeah, you won't be seeing any of these on the dealer's lots yet. At the NYIAS, the GMC rep's stated that the Equinox would be the first produced & launched by summer, with the Terrain to follow late summer or early fall. I'm not even sure full production has even ramped up yet.
  22. The picture above was taken at my BPG dealership this past Sunday. They've had these flags out there for atleast a year, if not longer. Does anyone know where these flags can be ordered from? I've tried Pontiac Mall and the similar GMC website with no luck. I'd like to get the Pontiac flag ASAP if possible, as I think current GM-licensed Pontiac collectibles may be hard to come by once the lights are turned off at Pontiac. I will definitely ask my dealership when I take the wife's G6 in for service next time if no one here has any leads for me. I figured I'd ask here first :AH-HA_wink:
  23. I agree Chris... here's a picture of my dealership's G8 inventory (they have a few more scattered around the lot too, including 3 GXP models); the Pacific Slate Metallic (V6) on the front end is the one I'd like to have: Here's another shot, just of the Pacific Slate Metallic one: I have been looking online at a really nice, low-mileage 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi, but I'm thinking that if I'm going to go with a V6-equipped car, a brand-new G8 V6 Sedan would be the better choice. I'm just going to have to wait until a pull-ahead program is offered for my lease period or wait until October/November when the lease ends and see what G8 V6 inventory is left and if I can afford one.
  24. Here's her "official" CNBC picture:
  25. On Sunday we happened to be in the area of the Pontiac dealer that has the performance red G5 GT I've shown interest in. Luckily it was unlocked and we were able to sit in it and get a good feel for how comfortable it would be to own and use. I will say that after that experience, I'm less interested in the car. Being a two-door is definitely a big negative, as the "easy slide entry" passenger seat isn't so convenient to use, and is on the passenger side (the side blocked in with the garage wall at my house). It's trunk opening is very narrow and I could foresee it being difficult to load bulky items in there. The fit and finish of the dash & console are in need of some attention before being taken off the lot. Overall, the wife said it's a shame the car isn't available as a sedan and stated that she'd rather have the Vibe GT instead (this dealer already has a 2010 Vibe GT on the lot). This dealer also has the G8 V6 Sedan I'd want if I could get one... Pacific Slate Metallic with Onyx Leather and other upgrades. And like Camino stated in another thread, I am not too thrilled with the prospect of driving a 4cyl engine-equipped car as MY daily driver (like the HHR; great vehicle, but needs a V6 to make me truly happy). I'm going to hold out and see if any G8 deals can happen between now and when my lease ends in November - even if it's for a V6 model. If not, then I'll have to bend my rules and let the wife pick out a Vibe GT for herself and I'll inherit the G6 V6 Sedan that is currently her daily driver.
