  1. I'm attaching some pictures of two 2009.5 Pontiac G6 sedans, including a shot of the white one's frotnend, as seen parked out on the lot with the last of the new Pontiacs, last Saturday (9/5) while attending a classic car show at a Bucks County (PA) BPGC dealership.
  2. Saw my 2nd '10 Buick LaCrosse CXL FWD at a dealer (wife actually test-drove this one) and my first '10 GMC Terrain SLE-2 AWD (4 cyl) - that I test drove.
  3. My own attempt at being "artistic" with my camera...
  4. for a very ! ! !
  5. +1 about the 4 cyl vs. V6. I test drove a 2010 GMC Terrain today - an SLE-2 AWD with the 4 cyl engine. Not a bad ride at all, but I was disappointed with the 4 cyl engine and would have to upgrade to the 3.0L V6 engine. I also am not a fan of the cloth material used for the SLE trim, it wasn't the old-GM mouse fur fabric, but it wasn't the more modern neoprene-like fabric either. Whatever it is, I'd rather upgrade to the SLT (leather) trimmed model. On the flip-side, the wife test drove a $35k 2010 Buick LaCrosse CXL FWD and loved it (I choose not to drive it, as I wanted to drive the GMC Terrain, but was a passenger in the car and was impressed with it's overall ride & handling). She wants that, I want the Terrain
  6. Thanks Croc for the suggestion. It was one that caddycruiser suggested to me when he did his inspection of the FWB for me prior to me completing the purchase. I will have to check into it and see what the cost is for the Roadmaster unit. The wife doesn't like how heat *only* comes out of the floor vents and A/C *only* comes out of the dash vents (the downside to the Caddy's HVAC system/controls). If its affordable, it's something I may consider soon. A new positive development... I took the car to the New Jersey State Inspection Facility closest to my home yesterday afternoon and it PASSED!! I guess the tires were not as bad as I was told, though they do need to be replaced soon. And I'm guessing they didn't bother trying to open up the passenger side windows. It is now wearing its 2-year inspection sticker proudly sitting out in my driveway. caddycruiser - I' ve been meaning to send you an e-mail about getting together to work on the car, but with me returning to work I have not turned on my home computer since the weekend. I will try to contact you tonight by e-mail with some dates. I want to start working on this car soon and will try to take care of some items before meeting with you.
  7. Uggghhh... I told the repair shop not to put down either of the passenger side windows because I know they have an issue and a repair is being done by a friend. I get home from dinner last night with my family & parents and what do I find? The right rear passenger window is half way down. My dad helps me get it up and all is well. Around noon today me and my little guy are on our way to a car show and my wife calls my cell to ask me why I left the right rear passenger window half way down? I tell her I didn't touch the Caddy today and I'll have to fix it later. So far it is staying up, but I'm guessing that the repair shop didn't listen to me and activated the window switch against my wishes. Hopefully it stays up on it's own until I can get it fixed... 67impss - thanks for the link. I've visited there in the past and just signed up today so I can start posting.
  8. May I suggest you look for a GMC Sierra in bright red?? Not that there's anything wrong with the Silverado, but I recommend a GMC whenever I can :AH-HA_wink:
  9. Well, I picked up the Caddy from the local repair shop about 20 minutes ago and the news is GOOD. They were very surpirsed at how great of a shape the car was in for being 13 years old. The items that need attention, outside of the passenger-side power windows, include the following: new tires, idler arm, alignment, new hoses (still has its original hoses, which aren't in bad shape but to prevent issues down the road), and a new air filter. The brakes are in like-new condition, the battery & altenator passed their tests, and the coolant is still good (though he said a flush and new coolant would be a good idea). So I know now that it will fail NJ State Inspection based on the tires, but I'll have 45 days to get new tires and have the car re-inspected, so that gives me more time to find a new set of tires for the beast. I feel a lot better about my purchase now, and Derek's visual inspection aided me too.
  10. Hahaha... Soprano's! I've gotten that comment (mafia car) more than just on here since I bought the car. And I'm thinking of not tinting the windows because of the "it will look even more like a mafia car" comments Derek - I defintiely have to arrange the time to come see you with the car to get those windows fixed. I'm thinking Saturday the 12th, if you're available. Remember I told you the TEMP idiot light/telltale light on the dash cluster came on? Well, it did it again last night after a short drive. The car is going to the local repair shop this morning for a Private Party Inspection (PPI), so hopefully that will tell what that issue is about (maybe low coolant?). I have to get this car inspected by the 9th, and I'm not sure if the two broken passenger side windows will "fail" the car. Well, the wife will disagre with you on that comment... she still calls it a granpa car Everyone else likes it, but she says that they're just being nice to me. It hasn't gone to work yet with me, and the students don't return until Tuesday. But I'm still in love with this car and can't wait until some routine maintenance gets done to it so I feel more comfortable driving it.
  11. mustang84, gm4life, regfootball, Camino LS6 - thank you for the compliments. While the car is really great, it does require some attention and routine maintenance before I will feel comfortable driving it on a daily basis. It would also benefit from some TLC with regards to the exterior & interior, and I know that will make the car look 10x better. 66Stang - don't be a copy-cat!! I appreciate your comments about the landscaping, but the credit goes to the landscaping company our association uses and to my wife for planting the various types of plants she bought in the spring. I actually call it the "gypsy garden" because my wife buys/plants what she sees & likes and not in any methodical order. But it makes the front of our townhouse a little nicer from the rest. Even though I had the Fleetwood Expert (caddycruiser, aka Derek) perform a visual inspection for me prior to completing the purchase, I am planning to drop it off at a local mechanic/repair shop for a more thorough mechanical inspection. Derek has been jkind enough to offer his services with some of the needed repairs, but I can't expect him to do everything! And I want the car to be sound for November, so some simple routine maintenance will be needed, and hopefully nothing too major is found. Again, thanks for all of the compliments - I love seeing the car out in the driveway everyday. It truly is a dream come true for me.
  12. Since I purchased the Cadillac last week, I've been hearing/seeing ads for extended warranties and of course there's always the AAA services being advertised. With the Caddy having no warranty, I'm definitely interested in getting some protection for the car, especially since it will be my daily-driver starting in November and want to protect my family when we're on the road. Should I look into an extended warranty plan, and if yes, with what company? Should I look into AAA coverage too? Since this is the first vehicle I have without any owner protection (I've been leasing my vehicles for 10 years now, so I've never paid attention to any services due to the manufacturer's coverage), I'm interested for something soon. Thanks!!
  13. Ever see the movie "Election" with Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon? Matthew's character gets his eyelid stung by a bee and it's nasty looking!! (sorry, couldn't find an image from the movie to post) Camino - sorry dude to read about your dilemma. I've been dealing with severe right knee pain since Thursday - orthopedic doctor says it's likely a torn meniscus. Until I can get an MRI done on the knee to examine the extent of the damage, I have anti-inflammatory pills and pain pills (percocet/oxycodone) to use; however, sleeping is not the easiest thing to do with such pain. Best of luck for a speedy recovery.
  14. Some new pictures of the Fleetwood Brougham (sorry it's dirty!), taken yesterday (8/31) in its new area/home:
  15. Per my request, I asked Drew to move this topic to the member's ride section so I wouldn't have to create another thread on the '96 Caddy Fleetwood Brougham. I will be adding some new pictures soon.
  16. Happy Birthday!! Glad to read that you had a good day
  17. I am a huge Disney Parks fan/enthusiast and love EPCOT CENTER (being old school, I hate calling it 'Epcot'). The link above to Youtube has a great parody of the changes made to EPCOT CENTER <Epcot> over the years. If you too are an EPCOT CENTER <Epcot> fan and have been there recently or are aware of the changes over the last several years, you'll get the jokes. Enjoy!!
  18. Thanks for the well-wishes and congrats on getting this car. I've been dealing with a personal health issue since Thursday morning and that has prevented me from doing anything at all, especially with the Caddy. I have until September 9th to take it to a NJ State Inspection Facility and I wanted to have it checked ove mechanically by a mechanic or service center first to make sure it will pass the inspection process. i have to go to work for a few hours on Monday and then return to work full-time on Tuesday (yeah, no more unemployment!!). I have some time, but it will run out quickly! As soon as my knee allows me to stand/balance/walk again (I'm much better than Thursday morning), I'll get some pictures of it at its new home.
  19. Well, the car is parked at it's new home!! Attached is its last picture at its old home; I completed the paperwork & DMV stuff in the afternoon and at 7:00 PM I went to get it. When I got home, the wife and little guy wanted a ride in the car, plus my neighbors next door came to see it, my parents stopped by to check it out, and a friend stopped over to see my newest acquistion. By the time I had it parked for the night it was too late & dark for a picture at its new home. It needs a bath for the time being and I plan to get it checked over mechanically soon, plus it needs to go to a state inspection facility within the next 14 days. Not much will be done by the end of the week, so maybe a quick bath and some pictures at its new home/area. caddycruiser - I'll be sending you an e-mail in the morning (too tired right now to type!) with some new developments on its condition.
  20. My mom has a 2005 Saturn VUE V6 AWD, my dad has a 2006 Pontiac G6 V6 Sedan, and my wife has a 2008 Pontiac G6 V6 Sedan; my vote would go towards a G6. My mom's Saturn VUE is very creaky and feels very cheap (both relating to the interior plastic) after 4 years (its felt this way to me since it was about 2 years old). A friend's wife has a 2003 Saturn VUE 4cyl FWD model and loathes the FWD system in wet or snowy weather (if they could afford a new car payment, she'd get out of the VUE; though she said she'd consider a new one with a V6 & AWD). She too complains of a creaky and cheap interior, though with a soon-to-be 4 year old toddler and an eight-month old infant, they find the VUE to be a versatile vehicle. Again, with personal experience I'd recommend the Pontiac G6 overall.
  21. Thanks for the input. It looks like I will be planning for a cool day in late September or October to do this to the Caddy. I washed, detailed & waxed my AURA yesterday in the hot heat & humidity (thankfully I had my dad's 2-car garage <1 large garage door> to use to detail & wax - otherwise I would havce died of heat exhaustion!! The AURA isn't worth the clay process since it's going back in 3 months (lease), but I think it will do the Caddy much good for the upcoming winter months, and then I'll use it on the wife's G6 in the spring. One question: you don't wash the clay after using it on a section, you just knead it to keep it clean as you go along the process?
  22. Well, it looks like it will be coming home soon. Tomorrow, Wednesday 8/26, I meet the owner at my credit union so that he can sign over the title and get his check. I then take the title to NJ DMV and get a new one in both my name and the lien holders, new registration, and new plates (I've already called my insurance company and have added it on my policy effective tomorrow). Once all of that work is done, it's off to pick up the car and bring it to its new home. Plenty of pictures will be taken of course!! caddycruiser - what brand of Goodyears and Michelins have the Caddy owners been using the past couple of years? I'd like to know the names so that when I call tire stores I can ask them if they have Goodyear/Michelin X or Y tires available. Also, are factory floor mats still available for the Fleetwood??
  23. Your Lincoln looks great, and I'm sure non-enthusiasts will think it's a new or newer car I used the Meguiar's Next Gen 2.0 Tech wax on my wife's '08 Pontiac G6 Sedan in mid-July and it still makes the car look great (even when it's dirty and after two dozen rain storms). My '06 Saturn AURA is getting the exterior detail, wash & wax treatment tomorrow with the Meguiar's wax. I have a question - how hard or time consuming is it to do the clay bar process? The '96 Caddy Fleetwood I'm about to buy would benefit greatly from a detail job like this, but I want to know how much added time this adds to a regular wash & wax detail job. Also, how much does the Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit cost, and does it include everything needed to do the job?
  24. caddycruiser, it looks like I can find these tires for the FWB, but I'm nore than positive I will pass:
  25. You've got that right!! I can't wait to get behind the wheel of this road monster... (soon!) My son (Justin, 4 y-o) can't stop talking about "daddy's new Cadillac with its train horn"!! I actually think he's more excited about this car than I am, and I'm very excited myself. I have to go to the credit union this afternoon and drop off the paperwork so that a check can be cut. I'm hoping to have this beast home by the end of the week. Derek - again, I can't thank you enough for taking the time out of your Saturday to drive 2.5 hours to New Jersey to look this car over for me. It reassures me that I'm making a good purchase. Plus it's always nice to meet someone from C&G in person. I will respond to your e-mails soon; Saturday evening & night were spent with friends, and yesterday was a busy 2-car show day and time spent with the family. Oh and remember the red Fleetwood Brougham we passed going to & from Tom's house? It's a '93 FWB and I stopped to see it last night (was around the corner at a car show). I took crappy pictures of it in the dark, but low and behold it's listed on Craigslist: http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/1336830979.html
