Sadly, I attended my last car show for the 2009 calendar year. The All Pontiac Show and Go, sponsored by High Performance Pontiac Magazine and held at Old Bridge Raceway Park in Englishtown (Manalapan), NJ, was originally scheduled for the day before father's day (Saturday) back in June but was rained out, so the car show was heldyesterday (10/25). Attached are some of the Pontiac photos I took...

I was in the central NJ area today for a car show (last one of the year ) and was not too far from Perrine BPG that I swung by to see what, if any, Terrains they had received. Found two on the lot, both FWD SLT-2 models, with one in Gold Mist Metallic with Jet Black leather and the other in Mocha Steel Metallic with the Brownstone leather interior. Thought I'd share just a few of the shots here...

Yeah, I know it's Epsilon II, but it doesn't feel much bigger than my AURA And you're right, my soon-to-be daily driver is bigger than any of the Epsilons out there!! Sorry we your thread for a moment there BigPontiac!

The 2008 Pontiac G6 V6 Sedan has P225/50/R17's on it now (Hankook Optimo H725A ) A tire website I looked at tonight had the Cooper CS4's listed at $128/tire, and yes there is the rebate that's available on them (the CS4's are only available with the $50 Visa rebate card). Not bad and with the recommendation you gave plus what the review said, I think I could be happy with htese tires (God's sake, they have Hankooks on them now!). I sent an e-mail to the repair facility near my house; he's listed as being an authorized Cooper tire dealer/imstaller. Seeing as how I want him to do some work ont eh Cadillac, including tires for that if he can get them for me, hopefully he'll give me some good pricing now so I become a repeat customer :AH-HA_wink:

Congrats on getting another Malibu sold!! I was trying to talk a co-worker out of buying yet another Toyota product (that's all she's owned outside of an older used Ford F150 pickup purchase 2-3 years ago). She's in her mid-to-late 40's and will only consider Toyota because they've 'never let her down' (the ancient Corolla she drives, a '90 or '92, has reached it's limit and she wants to order a new 2010 Corolla or Camry). I wish I could convince her to consider GM or Ford, but it's notgonnahappen. I'd consider a Malibu for myself if I wasn't tired of owning a bunch of Epsilon cars the last 5 years ('04 Malibu LT; '07 AURA XE; '08 G6 V6 - all with the 3.5L V6). At this point I want something a little bigger (longer, wider) and still prefer a truck (or SUV/CUV) over a car. The wife is in love with the new Buick LaCrosse and would kill for the opportunity to buy one now. Post pics as soon as you can!!

daves87rs, you've piqued my interest in the Cooper CS4 tires for the wife's Pontiac G6. So I searched google for reviews and this one by far seems the best (I did read the Motor Trend review that this review refences): You asked me what I was looking for in a tire and the above review hits on all of my expectations. So I will contact the local Cooper Tire dealer/installer and see what kind of deal he can work out for me. I'll put the wife's 20+k mileage Hankooks on my car and if the price is right, put the Cooper CS4's on the G6 (I am still interested in the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred tires, but tirerack.com is listing my size at $170/tire ). Should I consider the Firestone FR170 tire also, or is the Cooper going to satisfy my requirements?

Going off topic here with the ACE, why are there four lanes going into A/C but only three (then two after the GSP) leaving A/C? I don't mind driving into A/C, but leaving in heavy traffic and the lanes narrow makes for some interesting driving! I'll be down this way next month for the annual teacher's convention (ah, gotta love NJ for this). Since I'm driving, I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for both the Camaro and any other NJ State troopers. Back on topic... pretty cool that the NJ State Police have decided to buy the Camaro SS as a pursuit car. I don't recall seeing any Ford Mustangs in the past; is the current head of the troopers a Camaro fan??? On a downside, seeing as how the state is in financial trouble, buying two of the most expensive Camaros might not have been the best decision. Still cool though that our state police force has the new Camaro in police duty. And FOG, pretty much any NJ State Police vehicle (Crown Vic, Excursion, Durango, Charger, etc.) has those same decals and lettering. Our state police vehicles won't be winning any car show awards for their creative & interesting striping package

Yeah, I know how that seems but when I bought the FWB I still had three more payments on the AURA lease (last payment was made yesterday!), and I have plenty of unused miles left, so I figured I'd continue using the Saturn. The Caddy needs new tires and I'm not comfortable driving the car with the tires it currently has, especially in the rain. Kuhmo and Kelley tires have been recommended to me, so if I'm keeping the car as a DD then I will be dealing with this issue soon. The car needs some TLC on the interior and I have yet made the time to tackle this; with the warmer weather coming at the end of the week, I may just jump into this too. A new problem developed with the car mechanically yesterday, so that will be drawing my attention soon too. A lot is going on in my mind with my driving needs, but I do love driving this Caddy (I've been driving it 2-3 times a week, though it has been more like 1-2 lately). And I can definitely see the financial benefit of having no car payment once the small loan I took out gets repaid by the summer. I guess with my non-existent mechanical skills/abilities I've begun to rethink my decision on buying an older car. The biggest detractor though is my wife - as usual she didn't take me seriously when I said I wanted to buy this car (in her defense, I've said that a million times since we've been together and never actually bought anything). When I got the loan approval and made the arrangements, she was too late to stop the process. She has not warmed up to the car yet, and has made life regarding the FWB difficult. She knows I don't have the mechanical skill needed for repairs, and with money tight right now I don't have the option for a repair shop for any other unexpected problems. She's just waiting for the moment for the car to strand us somewhere to drive her point all the way home; that right there is my fear with an older used car. I've fooled myself into thinking I could make do with an older car, but unlike others here (balthazar, camino, sixty8, dodgefan, oldsmoboi, etc) I just don't have the skills and tools to work on my own ride. I've always joked that I'm the guy that keeps repair shops in business, and I guess it really is a very true statement. Sorry for the "therapy" session, but this is the only place for me to turn to about my concerns.

I'm about 60% sure I want to sell it... a lot of factors are working this thought process, but the main issue is the fact I really do want to drive a new vehicle on an everyday basis. Of course I have to see what is out there that I want AND can afford. Once I know the answer to that question then I will ponder if I can keep the Fleetwood as a "toy". If I can afford a new daily driver but not the "toy", then I have my answer. Should I sell-out for a new car? I've had 5 new vehicles in 10 years (not counting the wife's 3 contributions that I got to co-drive too), so with the impending lease-end arriving soon am I just going through new car purchase time withdrawl? I love the Caddy and have always wanted one, but I'm not sure it's what I want as a daily driver. Should I return the lease and try the Caddy out for a month? Maybe 30 days of daily driving are all I need. I knew I had a stigma about buying "used", and I thought by getting a car I've always wanted I could beat it. Not true, so I need advice/comment/opinion here. And yes, I am being serious before someone asks if this is a joke!

Hope your day is a great one!! Happy Birthday!

Alright, so here I am, approximately 28 days away from my SmartLease expiring. I have done nothing with the tires on the AURA, but I'm at a point now that I have to do something. Here are my options: 1. But the car a new set of tires. 2. Find a set of used tires. 3. Buy the wife's G6 a set of new tires and have her Hankooks put on my AURA. Considering those options, #1 is out because I'm not spending the money for tires I won't be using much longer. Option #2 has been unproductive, as the tire places I've called don't have my size or can't give me two matching tires. So that leaves option #3, even though it is expensive right now, looks like the way I might be going here. Now to decide what brand of tires the wife's G6 will get. I like the reviews and ratings on the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred tires, though they're a bit pricey at $170/tire (tirerack.com). daves87rs recommended the Cooper CS4s, though I haven't been able to find a price per tire online the repair shop next to my development is an authorized Cooper dealer. And fightingbee recommended for the AURA, but I'm sure they'll work on the G6 too, the Firestone FR710s (I know nothing of this tire nor its price). Any other brand of tires I should be considering? Remember, this is for the wife's car that sees approximately 60 miles per day of daily driving. I want it to be a reasonably-priced tire yet offer safety and dependability. As always, your thoughts/advice/opinions/comments are appreciated.

Thankfully I don't have time to go to the dealership tonight... otherwise I may have to act out on my temptation

See, if my dad wasn't in the hospital at the beginning of July, I would have ventured to my Pontiac dealership before the 4th of July sales event expired and went through the numbers on a Pontiac G8, even if it was for a V6 (the GT is nice, but I don't *need* a V8 as long as the V6 provided enough power for my needs). But alas, he wasn't released until after and I missed out. But if things worked differently, I might be driving a 2009 Pontiac G8 now. So a part of me says that I can get a well-loaded new/leftover G8 V6 Sedan for cheaper than a 2010 GMC Terrain that's not as loaded as I'd like (and more likely FWD and not AWD), so I should be considering one if I was smart. The G8 and the Terrain are the only two feasible GM vehicles I can see myself going for (I'd still love a Sierra Crew Cab, but that falls under the unfeasible side). If I pass on the G8, there's still the Terrain, but it wouldn't be anytime soon and the AURA would be returned without me getting something new. But then there's the issue of would I really be happy with the G8, especially once more Terrains start appearing on the roads? So that's where I'm at now, and I've stopped myself from going to the Pontiac dealership to be tempted even more. As for the Caddy, it's a great car and I'm happy to have it (finally, after years of wanting one). But caddycruiser points something important out - it's not "new" and I've come to like the features that new cars today offer (remote start, steering wheel radio controls, iPod usage, etc). And for the past 10 years I've had nothing but new vehicles to drive, so the prospect of driving an older car that may not be as reliable as I thought have entered my mind. I do want to keep the Caddy and fix it up over time if I went new right now, but not sure my finances are strong enough to handle the wife's G6, a new car for me, and the small loan I've taken out for the Fleetwood. caddycruiser... I definitely need to make some arrangements with you and soon. I really want to get the window situation corrected, as it's posing quite a problem for me now. If I knew I wouldn't miss it - which I would very much - I'd part with it for a new car. I feel lucky to have it and would probably beat myself up for selling it. I am at a crossroads here...

Stop talking abotu Pontiac G8s around here people, you're going to push me to look into buying one of my own!!

Yeah, with the '07 Saturn AURA lease ending in just 29 days (Nov 17), even though I bought the '96 Cadillac Fleetwood I've been cruising the car websites again. I really, really like the new 2010 GMC Terrain and priced out both FWD and AWD versions, from SLE-2 ($31,325 FWD/$33,075 AWD), SLT-1 ($32,980 FWD/$34,730 AWD), and SLT-2 ($34,285 FWD/$36,035 AWD). Of course these are MSRP's, and GM Supplier Pricing will save me $1,400 from MSRP . Still too much, especially the SLT-2 model, but a boy can still dream, right?!?! On the flip-side, yesterday I was being stalked by Pontiac G8s. A black GT, an orange GT, and a white V6 all last night as we went out to dinner & a movie with friends. I stopped by a BPG dealership in central NJ last Tuesday for a Terrain brochure and they still had 6 or 7 Pontiac G8s on the lot (mostly GT models, but a few V6s - all in either red, white or black). That got me started thinking about the Pontiac G8 again and then of course the 3 last night really got me thinking. Plus Pontiac is offering 0% for 72 months on all leftover Pontiacs... :

ocnblu, I hope you don't mind but I copied & pasted your two GMC Terrain pictures over at the Terrain Forum for others to see. If you'd like, I will remove them if you don't want them posted anywhere else. Here's a link to the website where they are posted if you care to see them in their new home Well, I know I will see plenty of SLT-2 equipped Terrains, as Susan Docherty stated in the two webchats that SLT models will make up 60%-70% (if I'm remembering the percentages correctly) of the model trim mix. And the GMC dealerships I've been visiting are all waiting on SLT-2's to drop soon. I really want to see what the base model's 17" rim design looks like in real life.
-
Hoping you both have a great birthday today!
-
Yeah, I knew it was a base model (SLE-1) by the 17" rim design. I have yet to see a Terrain with those rims - most of the dealers around me are ordering the SLT-1 (with the 18" rim seen onthe bluw one in your picture), with a few SLE-2 models showing up too (with the 18" rim), and I've yet to see a SLT-2 with the chrome, but they're all "on the way" I've been told. I'd like to see how nice (or not) those base 17" rims are. If you go back anytime soon... :AH-HA_wink:

You wouldn't have any additional pictures of the silver Terrain, especially of the rims, would you ocnblu?
