Actually, I'm off from the 24th through January 3rd, so why don't you have GM ship the Terrain to ME and not only will I drive the thing, I'll write the review in pure journalistic fashion/format. I'll take a ton of pictures - you know I have a favorite picture spot here in Burlington County, and a few in Mercer that I haven't been to in a long while - and will show the thing off everywhere I go with it.

Well, the redesign for full-size trucks has been pushed back; hopefully GM doesn't go back to the 10+ year periods again (1973-1987) and (1988-1999) for truck redesigns. Compact/Mid-size pickups are not a priority with GM anymore, so the Canyon/Colorado redesign may no longer exist. With the stabilization of the CUV market, I guess the days for the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade are numbered. The Suburban/Yukon XL will live on, but I can't see the shorter versions lasting past 5 years if people continue to purchase the current crop of larger CUVs instead.

You're not planning a trip back home to Jersey with it by any chance??? And ya know, my b-day is the 23rd and having it for the day would be the best present you could give me

So Oldsmoboi, when can we expect to see some reviews of the vehicles GM is allowing you to drive? I'm anxious for your report on the '10 Equinox (especially if it was a 4cyl model). I think it's great GM extended this to you and the other mods participating, and I know I can't wait to read what you guys think of your time behind the General's latest offerings. Thanks!!

I'm surprised to see you don't have a preferred Chevy dealer in NJ!! Glad to see she's not letting practicality rule her purchasing decision. I hope it all works out and she gets what she wants. I miss new car shopping...

Well, I'm close to exit 5 of the NJT, but if I can be of any help please let me know. We C&Ger's have to "pay it forward' you know

What car are you dreaming about at the moment?
GMTruckGuy74 replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
2010 GMC Terrain SLT-2 V6 AWD, fully loaded (well, you did say "dreaming"!!). However, at this point I'd be happy with a well-loaded SLE-2 model -

Who makes that stuff, and where can you buy it? I'd be interested in it for my '96 Caddy Fleetwood's faded charcoal trim, if you think it'd work. -
I saw this car for sale in the Car Corral at Hershey this past October (Fall AACA show). It is one heck of a nice Buick!!
-
I haven't done this apparently, the wife doesn't want me too!! I'm still interested in darker taillight lenses for the G6 though.
-
If you went to the Fall AACA show in Hershey in October, you would have seen two of these trucks - one a '57 and the other a '58 (which I don't like as much as the '57).

See now, some of my last vehicle purchases have been recently launched new GM models and outside of a few problems, have been very reliable and made me wonder if GM did turn a leaf. I bought a new 2004 Chevy Malibu LT in November, 2003 (they were only 1.5 months old at the time); a new 2007 Saturn SKY roadster in April, 2006 (I was my dealership's 2nd SKY); and then in November, 2006 I leased the 2007 Saturn AURA XE (look at that, two new intro'd models on one year!). Now I'm not trying to discredit the problems you had with your vehicles at all. I'm just saying that not everyone has a problem with a first-year vehicle - look at how many new vehicles are sold in the first year alone! And GM has gotten better at making their new models, you have to see some merit with that. Back on topic, I guess the wife may get one of these letters since she was the one to buy last (her Pontiac in 2008); with me being a prior Saturn owner, I guess I'll have to wait for my letter sometime in early 2010. I'm enjoying the '96 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham for the time being, but it is only a matter of time until the "new car bug" gets ahold of me. Any extra incentive(s) GM wants to offer me will be greatly appreciated!!

Some late quarter GM offerings from Matchbox

Thanks Olds Guy! How long ago did you find it? -
Clicking this link will make you sick

Well, these things are approaching the 20 year mark soon ('91 Syclone='11, '92-'93 Typhoon='12/'13). Too many have been modified by their 2nd/3rd/4th owners, so finding one in original condition that has been well-cared for will be quite the find in a few years. I came < > this close to buying a pristine '91 Syclone back in the spring of '98, but my bank wasn't working with me too well on the loan so I had to back out. Probably a good thing, as it would have been my daily-driver, and that particular one deserved to be kept in the garage as it was for the first 7 years of its life. -

Congrats on the new toy BV!! BTW, where in NJ did you get this from? -
Where exactly is this rear foglight you are all seeing? I'm lost here!!

I've been channeling Sixty8's vibe as I drive around in my big ol' black '96 Cadillac FWB I can definitely see why he liked these big luxury barges. Hopefully he'll return soon, as we haven't had any B-pillar posts in a while (even though I kid, I do miss the guy and hope him and his family are all well).

Link: http://www.cadillaccollection.com/itemdetails.aspx?productID=2138 - Same deal as the 2009 GMC ornament I posted earlier, a 6-piece minimum is required and these are going for $17 too (w/o S&H costs). Hopefully there will be some interest in the Caddy ornament, as I'd like to get one of these too. (*And yes, I checked the other divisions and only the GMC & Cadillac ornaments are being produced)

2009 GMC Holiday Ornament - GMCcollections.com
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Merchandise Lookout
Thanks Oldsmoboi!! Hopefully there are five other GMC enthusiasts here that would want one - they have to be ordered by November 25th though. -
On a whim this morning I decided to check out www.gmccollections.com to see if anything new was listed for the holidays. I found this: 2009 GMC 1960 1000 Series Truck Ornament Link: http://www.gmccollection.com/itemdetails.aspx?productID=2137 While being offered at a reasonable $17 each, the site is requiring you to order a minimum of 6 pieces (costing $102 w/o S&H). I'd jump for it right now, but can't swing that amount. I sent an e-mail to my Buick-GMC dealership's parts dept to see if they are planning to order these for resale.

Your mom wants to part with it? Why, if you don't mind me asking?
-
Congrats on the new car!! Those Bonnevilles are such good looking cars. Here's to many wonderful and memory-filled miles with your new Pontiac. Now, get posting on those diecast updates. You're the "main guy" around here to keep us all updated on what we should be looking out for!!

Well, there was just one little bump in the road this morning with the Caddy... a DEAD battery!! Another call to AAA and off to work, 30 minutes late. Luckily I spoke with the auto shop teacher yesterday about installing a new battery on Friday, just had to move that up to today. $90 bucks lighter now, but a new NAPA Legend battery resides under the hood - started up without hesitation. This was only the 2nd lease I had full term, all of my other leases I've taken advantage of the GMAC pull-ahead offer and got into something new usually at the 30 month mark (all but one of my leases have been 36 months; the first was only 24 months and is the other full-term lease). I have never gone over my allowed mileage, usually right at the mark I should be for the time (the Envoy in '08 and the AURA went back with about 500 miles unused by us). It was strange to go in and give the keys, sign-off on the odometer document (no longer just the little state-issued statement), get my plates, and then go out to my waiting ride. They did do a little sales schtick, but weren't too pushy and asked me to consider them in the future (for now, selling off the remaining 2009 Saturns and going to a used-car lot after that, and the used car mananger hinted that they might be buying a Chevy franchise in the near future). caddycruiser - got your e-mail and responded. Feedback is appreciated, but no rush as I won't do anything until the weekend.

Saying goodbye tonight... Last time parked in the garage... 44,533 miles - lots of trips & memories! Sitting on the dealer's lot...

Hey Ford, you've got a great plan there waiting to release your all-new Interceptor until after the CV is done. Thanks for giving GM and Dodge some extended sales time there The township where I live has been very nice to Ford, as their police, fire, and public works department vehicles all have been Fords. Now the police department has bought two Chargers and the cops I've spoken to are excited about the upcoming Chevy PPV. They also said they won't miss the CV all that much, as the newest ones have not been as reliable as the older ones. Ford can plan to continue their share of this market, but in the meantime they'll lose a lot of sales to GM and Chrysler. It would be in Ford's best interest to speed up the CV's replacement by a year or two. On a side note, the past couple of years I've attended the Fireman's Convention in Wildwood, NJ in mid-September. Last year I noted that almost all of the fire companies using light to medium duty trucks (chief's vehicle, utility trucks, fire police, ambulances, etc) chose Ford vehicles. At this year's parade I noticed more new Chevy/GMC and Dodge trucks. Ford worked magic in the past with these public service workers, maybe they better step it back up if they don't want to have to recapture a lot of the market.
