  1. Thanks for the picture compliments. The picture on the bridge is from my favorite "picture spot" (the same place as the brick wall shots). If you look past the bridge you can see water... that's 6.5 feet above flood stage for that area!! Normally the water is not noticeable in pictures, one of the reasons why I wanted a shot on the bridge. There's a dam about 20 feet past this bridge - well, there was a dam there!! Because of the water being 6.5 feet higher, the water is flowing right over the top of the dam. Attached are some pictures I snapped while there of the dam covered by the flood water. I gave the Envoy a quick bath tonight, concentrating on the wheels and wheel wells because of yesterday's photo shoot. The red clay/mud from the parking area of that park was wet and it covered the inside of the wells with a thin & noticeable layer, plus the tires looked muddy and there was read clay/mud spalsh-up on the fenders (not nice looking for a truck riding around with dealership tags still!). Other than a few hairline scratches in the paint, there's one small dent in the black metal trim on the bottom of the driver's door trim. Not sure how it got there, interesting story I'm sure, but for a 4 year old truck it's in great shape (one of the reasons I wanted to snap it up). Having only 34,942 miles when I took delivery (about 12k less than average for it's age), and apparently female-owned (previous lease; can tell by the original "1" setting of the memory seat ), a lot of my neighbors think it's a new or leftover '09 model (they're surprised when I tell them it turned 4 y-o on March 6th). And as I washed and dried the truck tonight, I contemplated removing the "Pointe" dealer decal off the back. I've done that with every other dealer decal on all my other vehicles (unless I caught them before one was put on), but don't mind if they leave a dealership license plate frame on though for some free advertising. I left it for the time being, but will remove it before I wash, clay bar, and wax the Envoy this spring.
  2. Enjoy these quick "first shots" of my new ride!!
  3. It's funny that you all like the metal trim vs. the faux wood trim - that was how GM distinguished the GMC Sierra from the Chevy Silverado, and then used the GMC trim on the Chevy Z71 models!!
  4. You've got that right pal!! And before anyone says otherwise, I specifically looked for a GM Certified vehicle to purchase; while not counting as part of GM's monthly NEW vehicle sales, I figured it still helps them out somehow (and in the process keeps their dealers in business vs. buying a used Envoy from a non-GM dealership). GM got plenty of money from me between May of 1999 and June of 2008 with new vehicle sales (6 GMAC SmartLeases, 3 GMAC loans), and as soon as my situation improves I can see another 'new' GM vehicle gracing my driveway Thank you for the information. Is there anything I should have the dealer do to check on the surround? They're willing to fix anything I find wrong by this weekend, and then the GM Cerified Bumper-to-Bumper warranty will be used afterwards until March '11 (or 12,000 miles) - that doesn't automatically mean they'll willingly cover certain repairs though. Is there a TSB # I can reference, or a recall notice available, on that particular issue? Do you think my unqualified self can check it out first - would it be noticeable to a novice mechanic-in-training? I took some pictures of the Envoy yesterday but fell asleep before being able to post them here. Expect to see them tonight
  5. I'd like to agree with you, but I know how my AutoADD works!! You may have your ultimate machince for now, and while the Envoy satisfies all that I need from a truck/SUV at this time, I still desire a Sierra Crew Cab 4WD. What's stopping me from getting a brand new one is my fianances. Maybe by the time the Envoy is paid-off my situation will have improved and I can then get a Sierra, but you are correct in that the Envoy satisfies me now and for the foreseeable future
  6. Oldsmoboi - you're too funny!! And it's been 3 years on average due to leasing I think this one will be with me for a long time, since I plan to use it a lot for family duty and make many happy memories taking it on trips (I can't wait to bring home the new baby in it in July). caddycrusier hit the nail on the head... after leasing new GM vehicles for 10 years and buying (financing) a few in between (that I didn't end up keeping), and trying to make an older Caddy work for my as a daily driver, I determined that new-ish was what I really wanted - especially since that was what I was accustomed to in the long run - and it had to be a truck or truck-based SUV to satisfy my needs. I considered a Pontiac Torrent GXP, but the back seat wasn't wide enough for a soon-to-be family of five, and the Buick Rainier I found (silver) sold before I could get out to see it. Ultimately though it was my love of GMC that made me decide on an Envoy (I searched CPO Yukons, but there were none out there in my price range). The Envoy is nice in that it's larger than the GMT-355 crew cab trucks but not quite as large as the GMT-800/900 SUVs (but close). As much as I've wanted and have always loved the Fleetwood Brougham, I just couldn't make it my own and accept it as my driver for the next 2-3 years. I am sad to see it go, but have been happy with the Envoy since driving off the lot with it Friday night. And as I've known for a long, long time, I am a truck-guy deep down inside and will never be satisfied with a car as my daily driver. To all that wished me congratulations and many happy miles with the Envoy, THANK YOU!! I know my Automotive Attention Deficit Disorder (AutoADD) has been in over-hyper mode the past few years here with many posts asking about particular vehicles, but with the addition of the Envoy to my fleet I think that will be the check system I need. I know I'll always want something else, but the Envoy gives me what I've been craving in the long run. I will post more pictures within the next week, as the weather is forecasted to improve in the next day or two, and the recent flood waters recede from my favorite picture-taking spot
  7. From the little bit of online research I did about the "GM Mark of Excellence" dealership signs, dealers leased them through a company GM contracts with and dealers don't own them. Once a dealership closes, the company would come by to remove the signs (I witnessed this at two local GM dealerships that closed). I'm guessing GM allowed some Oldsmobile dealers to buy their signs? The one I took a picture of (new style Olds logo) was left in place after the Olds-Cadillac dealer closed, remained while the dealership was vacant for 2+ years, and was finally removed late summer last year and replaced with a custom-made sign insert for the new Amish marketplace that opened on the lot. BTW, these signs debutted in 1969 and were incorporated at all GM dealerships as the years progressed. Maintenance, replacements, and removals are handled by the company GM uses for the signs.
  8. 2006 GMC Envoy SLT 4WD (Summit White, Ebony Leather) Friday night, I traded-in the '96 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham and took delivery of this GM Certified '06 GMC Envoy. I gotta to say that while I loved the FWB, and wanted one for many, many years, I'm a truck guy true-and-true and could not be happier now that I'm back in a GMC. After our leasing experience with a 2005 GMC Envoy SLT 4WD (August '05 - June '08), I missed the Envoy the last year & a half and have been searching one out. Enter caddycruiser (Derek) and his recommendation of Pointe Pontiac-Buick-GMC in southern NJ (way south!), and two-three weeks later I take delivery. Friday night was the beginning of the nor'easter, and I left my camera at home, so I didn't get a shot at delivery like I always do with my vehicles. Saturday's 60+ MPH winds and rain did not allow for picture taking, and family errand yesterday put that on the back burner too. Enjoy the dealership's picture for now I know not everyone here likes or admires the Envoy, but it is something I'm happy to have in my fleet again and it puts me back in to a truck-based (BOF) SUV - which I couldn't be happier driving
  9. I'd love the return of both Pontiac and Oldsmobile, and see GMC dealerships offer niche Hummer models (not the return of Hummer as a brand). All other diversified brands need not return (and this from a previous 2-car Saturn owner)

  11. +1 I'm jealous of your purchase! While I love the '92-'93 Typhoon, I'm more of a Syclone guy. Still kicking myself for not going through with the purchase of an elderly owned & cared for '91 Sylcone back in June of 1998 Please post pictures of you Ty as soon as you can.
  12. Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris (born March 10, 1940) - happy birthday!! In honor of his special day, I present the following: 1. Chuck Norris makes onions cry. 2. Chuck Norris can slam revolving doors. 3. When Chuck Norris does a push-up, he isn’t lifting himself up, he’s pushing the earth down. 4. Ghosts are actually caused by Chuck Norris killing people faster than death can process them. 5. Chuck Norris can build a snowman out of rain. 6. Chuck Norris can drown a fish. 7. Chuck Norris' calendar goes straight from March 31st to April 2nd; no one fools Chuck Norris. 8. A cobra once bit Chuck Norris' leg. After five days of excruciating pain, the cobra died. 9. Chuck Norris doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants. 10. The most honorable way of dying is taking a bullet for Chuck Norris. This amuses Chuck Norris because he is bullet-proof.
  13. Both of my cars got a quick bath today to wash off the winter's remnants. It's funny how long it takes to just "wash" the Fleetwood compared to the G6!!
  14. I'm passing the baton on to whomever would like to organize this event. I have too many other things going on right now (work, baby, professional organizations, etc) that are consuming my free time to arrange anything else. However, if the weekend works out for me, I will try to attend.
  15. You need to flip out the white barge for a black one ( ) to make that picture much better looking!! How's the Avalanche doing so far? We need an update stat!

  17. Does this answer your question?
  18. Good luck, and I hope you have a speedy recovery. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers
  19. Pretty cool, RjION. I like the '58s, but prefer the '57s more. I watched an awesome '57 Fiesta go across the Barrett-Jackson auction block in Janaury, and was surprised to see it sell in the low $20k range (if I'm remembering correctly). If I could have one classic '50s car, it would be a 1957 Oldsmobile Fiesta
  20. While looking for a '57 Oldsmobile Fiesta hardtop wagon picture for the "Wagon Love" thread, I found this sketch: That would be a nice looking truck; I love the '57 Oldsmobile lineup, and '55-'57 GMC 'Blue Chip' trucks are my favorite. I know Camino has made posts in the past about what phantom vehicles you'd like to see, so here's my selection to start it off. Post yours if you care to share
  21. 1. Pickup Truck 2. SUV 3. Station Wagon 4. Sedan 5. Van 6. Coupe 7. Convertible
  22. How about when your boss hits your parked car... does that count??
