What is Ram Planning for the 2011 Chicago Auto Show?
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Chicago Auto Show (CAS)
Well, this was a disappointment... Note the picture of short bed truck at the link below. Short bed for a Tradesman work vehicle?? Link to Press Release: 2011 Ram 1500 Tradesman However, the diesel wars continue... See link for more information on the diesel upgrades: http://news.pickuptr...er-ratings.html -
Happy Birthday!! I hope it was a great one

Congrats man, it sure seems like you're living your life to the fullest! Maybe we'll have to do a couple of car shows in the immediate area this summe, and then next year we'll have to meet up at the Philly Auto Show. I thought it was strange, and that something was up, with your two trips to Philly in one week

What is Ram Planning for the 2011 Chicago Auto Show? Posted by Mike Levine | February 7, 2011 By the time you read this post, we'll probably be on our way to the 2011 Chicago Auto Show where Ram is expected to unveil "a truck aimed at carpenters, plumbers and other tradesmen," according to Automotive News. We don't have any more information to share, for now. The Ram folks are being very tight-lipped about their scheduled press conference on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. Central. What we do know is that we'll be there to bring you the news direct from the show floor. Vintage Promo 1/25 scale Pontiac Buick Dealership Sign
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Merchandise Lookout
Thanks SAmadei, I think I only have a few Pontiacs on display, but Pontiac is in my blood, so it depends on how outrageous you get It reminds me of the Pontiac dealership sign in the town I grew up in (Ewing, NJ Mercer County, Cathcart Pontiac). I'm glad I had my birthday recently, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to buy any of them. I considered the GEOs, because my wife's first car was a '91 GEO Storm in yellow. But I don't need the other ones, and put my money towards the two signs instead. -

Oh, they are definitely appreciated! 21 years ago I tried to buy a Chrevrolet dealership sign from Rick Kranz, a popular Promo dealer in Michigan, but my check arrived late and it sold to someone else. I always looked for these at larger car shows and toy shows, but never found any. I'm still surprised that I got these two! I did bid on the Buick/Opel sign, but there was no way I could afford all three. I noticed that too about the Terex's brass painted base - too bad they all didn't come that way. Do you know if there are other ones like the Terex, besides the normal GM ones? GMC Trucks is my next priority, if I'm lucky I've got mostly trucks in my collection, in various sizes (1/87, 1/25, 1/34, 1/50, 1/18) - First Gear predominately, but also Franklin Mint, Danbury Mint, Norscott & ERTL for my tractors (Caterpillar & John Deere, need some Terex's now ). I've got only one of the Lane - the '72 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme - that is still NIB, and want one of those '68 Firebirds. -

I know that I am! These signs are much bigger/taller than I was expecting. They won't fit into my curio cabinet with the rest of my diecast collection, so I had to put them in my wife's taller curio in the dining room for now (she's not thrilled!). Now to find GMC Trucks, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Buick/Opel, and Chevrolet. Well, once I find more money!! -
I think this one is great!! Being a HUGE Star Wars and Darth Vader fan, I enjoyed this one emensely http://tv.yahoo.com/blog/watch-a-tiny-darth-vader-in-volkswagens-adorable-super-bowl-spot--2252

A late model black Subaru Brat (4-door) with a BED CAP Why not just buy the wagon???

I like these 2005-2007 GMC Sierra 1500 rims, and I'm curious if I could install and use them on my 2006 GMC Envoy: The size information I found is as follows: 6-bolt, 17x7.5, 31 offset, bolt pattern 6x139.7 This is the factory rim on the Envoy currently (size information I found is 6-bolt, 17x7, 50 offset, bolt pattern 6x127): I know they are not matching sizes, but can the larger Sierra rim be used on my Envoy? I need someone that can educate me on rim sizing please. TIA!

TED - cool shot of te GMC Granite. I will be saving that in my personal folder at home, if you don't mind Derek - I can't make it to the Philly Show until Saturday... usually go the first day, but the little guy had strep throat last weekend and we had to put off our travel plans. Can't wait - 3 more days to go!!

General Motors Major Guard Warranty (GM Major Guard)
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
I'm figuring approximately 15k a year, and of course that would go up more if I drove myself into work (that is, if the wife and I took separate vehicles instead of carpooling, which doesn't make good financial sense whatsoever). Right now I'm only using the Envoy when the weather reports look bad (too much snow this year!); the G6 desparately needs new tires to handle the winter weather (the factory 17" Hankook Optimo tires suck in wet weather of any kind, and only have 39k on them). Of course the Envoy is better suited when all five of us go out somewhere, so I have to work quickly on the warranty issue. The AAA extended warranty is a call-in for price quotes, and I'll do that tonight (Internet requests can only be accessed after hours, and I'm sure they follow-up with a call). I did get an e-mail a few minutes ago from a stand-alone Buick dealer in Bristol, PA to call for the quote, so I will do that when I get home tonight too. -
General Motors Major Guard Warranty (GM Major Guard)
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
Okay, so none of the local GM dealerships are really interested in "making a deal" with me for a GMPP/Major Guard extended warranty. Some have flat out refused to sell me one, saying I'm out of my original 36/36 factory warranty, whereas others have varied in their costs - one dealer wants $3150 for a 36mos/54k $100 deductible GMPP/MG, and another wants $2250 for a 24mos/24k $50 deductible GMPP/MG. No one is consistant, and a few have tried to offer me their specific dealership warranty, telling me it is better than the one GM offers One business manager, to whom I personally know, recommended the AAA Platimun, Gold,or Silver warranty, saying that is what the Cadillac Service Dept recommends to Cadillac owners once they are out of the factory warranty. I know that several posters here believe in their AAA memberships, but I wanted to get advice on what anyone thinks of their warranty. You can check out here if you aren't familiar: https://midatlantic.aaa.com/CarsDriving/ExtendedWarranty/CoveragePlans I am 299 miles away from the GM Certified Used Vehicle 12mos/12k bumper-to-bumper warranty from expiring, and I'd like to do something very soon. I appreciate all insight/advice/opinions on this matter. -

Cool! Definitely make a post in here when you do that, maybe I'll see what I can do to purchase the Pontiac and/or Terex signs, depending on how quickly I get out-bid!! I'd love to have all three honestly, and find all the others, but funds are very limited right now and these guilty pleasure items just don't take top spot (especially in the wife's eyes ). -
Happy Birthday!! I hope it's a great one!

See, I didn't know that either! I guess I should spend some time away from here and reading more on wikipedia
