  1. Cool! I have to admit, after posting the pic above I too searched out local HHR's... found a 2LT in Imperial Blue Metallic, loaded Only problem is that the HHR is not really a good 5-seater for my family needs
  2. GM already showed us that a 2-door Theta is possible: 2007 SATURN PREVUE Concept:
  3. Dude, you're really comparing a Toyota product to this great piece of American machinery? Please, just stab the knife directly into my heart!
  4. I always get the xB and exD confused... exD: xB: I'd say stick with GM and look at a 2011 Chevy HHR. I will admit that the newer Scion xB has caught my eye, but I could never bring myself to buy a Toyota. The HHR is a great looking vehicle and has some "truck" in its design ('49 Suburban). Then again, I'd also wait it out and look at a GMC Granite, but who knows when that will be available in the market? But if I were in your shoes, being single and no need for a 4-door vehicle, I'd seriouly consider a HHR Panel and customize it similar to this: That would be one hell of a unique vehicle!!
  5. Well, I wasn't too far off with my guess-timate!
  6. I too am hoping they do more than just a grill change on this one like they did ont the Full Size GMC. Just please no oversized cheap plastic grills. What vehicle today doesn't use a stock OEM plastic grille? Pretty much everything on the market under $75k comes with a plastic grille (I'm just making that up, just in case someone says that the XYZ Supercar priced at $100k comes with a metal or some other type of non-plastic grille ) I see a lot of Equinox/Traverse in the Chevy Colorado replacement truck, which is fine because it meshes well as a "family". On that note, let's hope that the GMC version (I'm hoping for the revival of "Sonoma" over the re-use of "Canyon" btw) takes after the Terrain and Sierra HD (and the Sierra HD All Terrain Concept) for its boxier, professional grade style.
  7. Gotcha, and thanks. Funny thing is that on other sites (TireRack, Goodyear, Cooper, etc) I've searched by both - vehicle and tire size - yet on Costco and BJ's I just searched by vehicle make. D'oH!
  8. Saw 6 new Crown Vic "Black & Whites" travelling the opposite way on the local highway followed by a Econoline van... funny seeing them all in a line, no markings or lights but ready for install. I guess a local police dept is getting a new shipment of Ford cop cars. Also saw heading southbound on Route 295 (opposite direction) a mini car hauler with two '80s G-body Buick Regals - one was a black GN, the other a white T-Type, both looking pretty sharp.
  9. I can't fathom the idea of sacrificing my comfort and driving desires because of added costs at this time. I wish my SUV was paid-off (only had the loan one year so far, so no light at the end of that tunnel yet), but there's no way I can downgrade to a car as my daily driver and still be happy with my purchase. However, I have a couple of things in my favor that some, like ocnblu, may not - (1) the Envoy is a 2nd vehicle that does not have to be driven daily because, (2) the wife and I commute together to work in our fuel efficient car. The G6 is the absolute smallest vehicle I'm comfortable with (though she wanted a 4 cyl in '08 when we were car shopping, I'm glad to have the 3500 V6 <she was unhappy in all of the 4 cyl vehicles she test drove>). Maybe a minivan would be a better fuel efficient vehicle over the Envoy, but there are no minivans that I'm happy with. Going places with all of us (5 in total) and taking the G6 is tough; the Envoy is better for weekend driving duty (roomier, though uses more gas).
  10. That's what their websites said. Only 17" size available is a Michelin ice & snow tire. If I had the 18" tires of the GT/GXP, then they have my size available. Uh.... I'm coming up with 16 tires for the 17" G6 on Costco's website. http://tires2.costco.com/SearchResults.aspx?SearchID=70b3bb18-867e-44ee-9ef1-b5b1cc265de0 Shows just one for 225/50-17... what am I doing wrong compared to you?
  11. G6: 225/50-17 Envoy: 245/65-17 Not "big" tires by today's standard (18, 19 or 20"). My wife asked me last night why our tires are so expensive. She said her co-worker/friend was able to buy a new set of tires for $300 recently... I told her that's because: (1) her friend has an older Toyota Echo with 13" tires, and (2) her friend is cheap and likely bought the cheapest tires she could find. That's what their websites said. Only 17" size available is a Michelin ice & snow tire. If I had the 18" tires of the GT/GXP, then they have my size available.
  12. I would drive that 2011 GMC Savana 1500 passenger van in a heartbeat if the wife said we needed a van; the others posted here? Not so much!
  13. Colorado TEASER: Toyota Tundra:
  14. I have a question.. when one is comparing a compact/mid-size truck to a full-size truck, what is the cab configuration one is basing it on? Is it regular cab (small) to regular cab (large)? Is it extended or crew cab (small) to regular cab (large)? Because it always seems to me that the base MSRP of the full-size is for the Regular Cab model, whereas it is almost never stated which cab configuration the small/mid-size is. 2011 GMC Canyon Extended Cab 4WD SLE-1 (base MSRP + destination charge): $24,775 2011 GMC Sierra Extended Cab SLE 4WD (base MSRP + destination charge): $33,680 Difference = $8,905 MORE for a full-size 2011 GMC Canyon Crew Cab 4WD SLE-1 (base MSRP + destination charge): $28,400 2011 GMC Sierra Crew Cab SLE 4WD (base MSRP + destination charge): $36,020 Difference = $7,620 MORE for a full-size If I were in the market to buy a truck, I would need somnething to haul my family - which means CREW CAB. I would not be able to make-do with a regular cab model! There is no way possible all the negotiating in the world would get you a full-size truck for the same price as an equivalent compact/mid-size truck!! Many truck people I know take into account how many people they may have to transport and shop based off that first, not if they can get a REGULAR CAB model cheaper than the most loaded CREW CAB small/compact model.
  15. Just checked out the Costco & BJ's Wholesale Club sites... no tires available for the G6 in the size needed; the Michelin LTX M/S for the Envoy would run me approximately $920-925 at both places.
  16. I had a heck of a time finding white-wall tires for the '96 Caddy FWB in November '09 in the correct size, but did end up going with Kelly Navigator Gold's (W/W) for a tick over $500. Trust me, these tires I'm getting price quotes on are killing me!! I was hoping to spend $500-$550 for the the truck and car each, but I don't like the quality or ratings those priced tires have. And since it's my family riding on those tires, I want the best I can get for my money. The Continentals are getting my attention, waiting to see what the Coopers come in at (if the dealer replies to my email). I don't have a BJ's Wholesale Club or Costco membership anymore (both we thru my teaching job), and really don't want to join just to save $$ on tires (neither are close enough by that we would go shopping at to justify the membership cost, plus they never seem to offer the right types of foods we buy). Though my neighbor has offered to take us shopping at those clubs using her membership, and since I'm paying cash, maybe I'll have to inquire at those places to see what prices they're asking.
  17. I put out several e-mails to some tire places requesting price quotes... here's what I've gotten back so far: Goodyear Assurance TripleTred (G6): $1,035.26 (with tax, all fees and install on 4 tires) + $40 Rebate Offer Goodyear Fortera TripleTred (Envoy): $1,009.22 (with tax, all fees and install on 4 tires) + $80 Rebate Offer Continental ExtremeContact DWS (G6): $N/A - dealer #1: on backorder/cannot quote; $723.12 (with tax, all fees & install w/ alignment on 4 tires) - dealer #2 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus (G6): $915.72 (with tax, all fees & install w/ alignment on 4 tires) Pricey, no matter which tire. Still waiting for a quote on Michelin LTX M/S tires (Envoy) and one for the Cooper CS4 Touring V-Rated (G6). Some other local places will not quote online, so I have to find the time to get there in person (problem is I work until 5PM, get home before 6PM and a lot of these places close by then). There is a local Sears Auto Center at the nearby mall; yay or nay on their service? Plus my Buick-GMC dealership keeps sending service announcements via e-mail, saying they match or beat prices on tires. At least they have longer evening hours
  18. That takes all the fun out of the "hunt". Plus you can't compare $.98 at Target (okay, $1.05 with tax) to $4.25 + S&H costs Can't wait to see what other re-paint colors MBX will eventually offer
  19. Finally found this one tonight at Target. It's a great looking model, makes me want the real thing even more.
  20. 1959 or 1960 Buick: Cropped: Caught this while I was waiting at a light on my way home from work yesterday. Not a great shot, but at least I got one
  21. Congrats to your mom on her new GMC, and you know I approve! First Walt, now your mom - these Terrains are just flying off the lots! Happy to see Pointe came through for you again Can't wait for more pictures from you and reports from your mom on her ownership experience.
  22. http://www.mainstreetinmotion.com/ For me, it's coming to Philly in July (15-17), 8AM-5PM, at the Citizen's Bank Park (Phillies stadium). I signed up for Saturday 7/16, but will have to go on Sunday 7/17 instead (unless I get "sick" and go Friday 7/15!) due to my daughter's 1st birthday party that day. However, I'm excited GM has returned with this show Check the link above to see if it's coming to a location near you (its travelling all over the US), what vehicles will be there and how to register.
