Happy belated Birthday!! I hope you had a great day
-
I hope putting a value on it does not = having to sell it. I remember seeing it parked in your mom's garage in '07 and thinking how cool it looked there. Trust me, I know all about selling something you love that you don't want to part with (SKY)...

My new 2011 Camaro arrives on 3/30/11
GMTruckGuy74 replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
I don't do too much driving in Delaware, but if I see a green Camaro with pink & purple plates I'll be sure to wave! +1 on pressing that transmit button, or at least forcing the hand that can We NEED the Ute here badly... -
Congrats on the Pontiac score. Great little roadster you got there. I am seeing more and more of the Kappa twins in southern & central NJ now, even though we're still experiencing winter-like weather. Seeing them all, including your pics, makes me miss my '07 Saturn SKY though. I've been watching the prices on them around me, no where near $10k yet, but you've given me hope to continue looking Post more pics when you can!

I NEED one of those... damn, I guess I have to make a trip soon and see if I can find one like that.
-
Morrisville, PA is about 20-25 minutes away from me... and I like that year Ventura. Too bad I lack the funds for something cool like this

True, didn't think of the Olds rims. Thanks! Yeah, I thought that too about the mileage. About the Allentown.craiglist.org, I searched South Jersey's Craiglist offerings, it wasn't until I posted it here and googled 'Tamaqua' did I see the post link was from Allentown. My D'oH moment of the day I guess Definitely picked up on that when I first saw the CL post. Frontend accident? Check - most likely

[PUTS MOD HAT ON]... Please, let's keep the discussion level civil here. No need to berate anyone's opinion nor bash one for their way of thinking. Everyone is entitled to think what they want of the Denali trim and the Terrain. If you don't see eye-to-eye with them, take the higher road and don't post garbage. This is to everyone posting here, no one is being singled out. Refocus the discussion to the topic. ...[TAKES MOD HAT OFF] The original Yukon Denali (1999) offered no more perfromance over the standard '99 Yukon 5-door. As Oldsmoboi stated, it was a luxury model to offer something above and beyond anything else in GMC's stable. If you don't know the back story, the Denali was originally designed for Cadillac and Caddy wanted nothing to do with trucks, so GMC took it (hence why the frontend looks nothing like any other GMC of that era). Lincoln was just about to release the Navigator and Cadillac thought it would fail. It didn't and GMC already took the Denali. Cadillac pulled rank and rebadged the grille and wheel center caps and offered the Escalade soon after the Yukon Denali (2000 I believe). It wasn't until the redesigned 2001 GMC Yukon/XL Denali arrived did AWD and a larger engine become part of the package. Luxury met upgraded performance at that point. I do equate the Denali trim with Chevrolet's SS trim of this past decade. Cobalt SS? Malibu Maxx SS? TrailBlazer SS? Silverado SS? The Silverado was basically Chevrolet's Denali model... AWD, extended cab, leather with all the options, 6.0L V8 engine - JUST LIKE THE SIERRA DENALI!! If it were in the true vein of the SS heritage, why couldn't you get it in RWD, cloth, less options, regular cab, and geared for street performance rather than luxury/performance? Yes, the Denali model is being whored out - as much as a GMC enthusiast I am, I cannot stand the Acadia Denali. When Susan Dogherty held a web chat before the Terrain hit the lots a lot of people asked about the Denali being a possibility and she said "not on the radar". Not every GMC needs a Denali model, because the SLT model offers all the luxury needed - the Denali is just extra BLING on an already loaded vehicle. As for the Sierra HD Denali, it makes sense because a lot of people with money that haul horse trailers, RV trailers, and car haulers that want to flaunt their wealth will purchase these. That's the intended market for the Sierra HD Denali - not the work truck group. If it brings in extra profit, so be it. Would you rather see an Escalade Crew Cab 2500 HD pcikup for this market instead? Don't laugh, I'm sure GM thought of it. The Denali should be reserved for a model that can offer something that is not already part of the package (like with the Sierra & Yukon/XL, a larger engine and AWD coupled with luxury features in the interior above what is already offered on the SLT model). If the Terrain gets Pontiac-esque body cladding (i.e. chin spoilers, rear defusers, and rocker panel extensions) with no different interior appointments and engine offering, then it too will suck as much as the Acadia Denali.

Okay, so I Googled 'Tamaqua' and see it is outside of Allentown, PA.

I knew it would happen! Consumers have been calling for one since the Terrain hit the dealer's lots. Now GMC will push it out to keep the Terrain line fresh. I just hope it doesn't look silly... I'd prefer GMC to put out an All-Terrain model, a'la Jeep Patriot, since the Terrain Denali can't sit much lower to the ground than the regular model already does.

Yeah, when I bought my '92 Cavalier Z24 in May '94, I didn't realize for about two years you were suppose to leave the belts buckled in! I was always concerned about how great they would work in an accident, but luckily never had to try them out. I was happy to see GM get rid of them by the mid-'90s with redesigns that included airbags.

I'm sure most posters here, well except for the robotic Mr. Nimoy, have at least one person they miss from their past. Thank God for facebook, as I've found long lost loves of mine and have been happy those relationships went the way they did!! But yes, there are two I miss, one that "could have been" and the other that really never got off on the right track. But life is a lesson the whole entire time - either learn from it or be doomed to repeat the same mistakes.

Hopefully you ponied up the extra cash for the dealer to Scotch Guard your new interior

+1 - 1 It looks like a fish Of course I will agree with the +1 over the current model. However, I would look at a Fusion over the Fiesta (too small & tight for my tastes, though the wife likes it) and the new Focus (can't stand the fish mouth grille/bumper).

Some notes of mine here in regards to the new Chevrolet Colorado... GM, in a more fuel efficient world, is making sure that the new Colorado lines up with the fuel efficient vehicles in the family, such as the Equinox, Malibu, and Traverse (that is more fuel efficient than the Tahoe, right?). This is why it is not a mini-Silverado, which a lot of other markets in other countries don't like (full-size American trucks) and would likely not purchase. I doubt you're going to see any changes in the frontend design - likely the only thing to change will be a new lower front bumper insert to house round or square foglight openings. I agree with you, z28luvr01, on the wheels - I hope they make it to production. GM has to come out with better factory wheel designs that are not a $2,000 dealer option. I haven't been too impressed with many of the stock OEM rims on today's GM vehicles, always prefering the pricier trim's rims or the top-of-the-line rims (i.e. the Sierra Denali's chromed 20" multispoke rims). These rims are hot and make the truck. As with the bed, I do agree with hyperv6 that this bed pictured is for the North American market. It may be optional in other countries, which would get the bed with the external tie-downs standard. I also think GM is covering it up because it has features that will be NA-specific and they're not ready to show it (think back to the recent GMC Sierra All Terrain HD concept - in bed LED lighting, possible bedside storage <a'la Ram Box>, and the composite bed might be possible for lighter weight). These may be features primarily for a North American market that GM isn't ready to show to the rest of the world yet. So far, I like what I see, though I would rather have the truckier (boxier) GMC version if one will exist (think Equinox vs. Terrain styling). I was excited about the Granite becoming a possibility, and have always wanted a regular cab, shortbed, 4x4 GMC Sierra, but I can see a new GMC Canyon based on this Colorado stealing me away from those other two trucks.

Looking Back! 1988 GMC Centaur Concept
GMTruckGuy74 replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in GMC Trucks
I wish! Just from what you taught me, master Now about the Terradyne, when can you take me for a spin in it? And how about the Sierra All-Terrain HD? Well you have received US Mail from me, not very many can say that! And you know how appreciative I was for that favor Now then, if the test drives are impossible, let me ask for a different favor then. Can you pull some strings and get me behind the wheel when it's at the New York International Auto Show next month? Not to drive it, just to sit in it and make vroom-vroom sounds Plus to stand next to the front for a photo op? I'm being serious (well, not about the vroom-vroom sounds) -
Driving home on Route 1 South in Lawrenceville was next to an Infiniti EX35... definitely not a fan of this vehicle, and it's just as bad as the 2011 Infiniti QX56. Driving home on southbound Route 206 outside of Columbus, NJ Friday after getting the G6's new tires installed passed by a '41-'46/'47 Chevrolet Suburban Carry-All on the side of the road (not marked for sale) near the NADE car auction site. Stopped by Saturday morning on the way getting the Envoy's new tires installed for some pics: Saw parked behind a bus on the otherside of the lot a '41-'46/'47 Chevrolet Panel truck: Was very surprised to see both there, not usual for NJ.

Again, thank you for all of the responses to my tire questions, within this thread and all the others over the past year(s). I finally went ahead and made teh purchase for both vehicles this past weekend. Pontiac G6 - Michelin Energy Saver A/S (225/50-17): Old tires (Hankook Optimo): GMC Envoy - Michelin LTX A/T2 (245/65-17): (sorry, for some reason I didn't take a close-up of the tire) Old tires (Michelin Cross Terrain): I'll post a review one month/1,000 miles from now. I will say that I'm happy with both tires, and the Energy Saver A/S handled Monday's rain drenched ride to work perfectly.

I don't think anyone under the age of 12 can use those jumper seats, even in the current trucks (Canyon & Colorado) It looks more like a bench seat now, still uncomfortable: Current: Show Truck: I think people buy the extended cab for the interior storage vs. people carrying needs, unless it's for children or very short trips for adults. My step-son was 7-10 years old when I had my '01 Sonoma Extended Cab and he was only comfortable in the single rear jump seat for about a year, maybe year & a half. Of course he could stretch his legs oout due to the single rear jump seat, but he had to sit sideways and was scrunched between the rear cab wall/glass window and the passenger seat:

Saw this advertised in the local Auto Shopper magazine; went to the Red Cross Motor Pool just to check it out: 1985 Cadillac Eldorado Roadster, 98k, $1,950: Outdoors kept car, filler panels in rear cracked/need replacing, some bubbling (rust) on the doors and otehr areas, interior seat repairs needed, but overall a nice car to restore if into these. I hate the fabric roadster roof though.

Now that's how you trim out a tailgate. Let's hope the large bowtie emblem remains in the middle for the production version, and that the GMC version for NA uses a large "GMC" emblem in the middle of its tailgate. As for the comparison to the 2008 GMC Denali XT Concept, I too can see it: Maybe the GMC version will utilize the Denali XT's styling? Would be interesting to see a chopped Denali XT front end on the Chevy Colorado

ocnblu - Thank you for your well wishes, and yes this car is quite the gem (two years ago it was at 97 or 99k in mileage, garage kept & well maintenanced, and has nver seen rain or snow). Unfortunately to make this dream come true requires money, and if I wasn't lazy (well, between the one & a half jobs, home upkeep, and most importantly the kiddies), I'd go through the many boxes of "toys" sitting in my basement and organize them for sale. The sell them for the cash This is defintely one way for me to get the money needed. But your right in one thing - wishing leads to determination, and that I have plenty of balthazar - I'm not worried about the 305ci/5.0L V8, it will move the car for what I need it to do (boulevard cruiser). Rememeber, the one I have fond memories of, my mom's '83 GP LJ, had the 231ci/3.8L V6 and I LOVED that car The T/A rims are nice, but if I had it the stock Pontiac mags would have to be put back on there. Thankfully the owner appreciated these cars for what they were and never molested the car too much - besides the T/A rims (new feature to me), he added the Brougham models' door panels (which I do like), the splitter exhaust, and a '90s GM CD Player/Radio (but he has the original cassette/radio that came with the car). And a reminder of how the car looked 2 years ago when I met the owner and saw the car in person:

Okay, so I haven't checked on my favorite '87 Pontiac Grand Prix LE since the fall (maybe October?). And the dealership it is at - remember, this car is the dealer owner's personal car - lost both its franchises (Pontiac in '09 and Cadillac just recently in late 2010 or very early 2011). The building is now marked as an AC Delco repair facility though it looks emptier than before. I've been curious if his collection of cars was still in existence, namely my favorite Pontiac. So Friday night on the way home I stopped by to do a quick check. I was disappointed to see it missing from its parking spot inside the garage; however, I know the owner takes it out on nice weather days and Friday was definitely a nice day here in NJ. On the plus side, his "Royal Knight" late '70s El Camino was still there, along with his early '80s Buick Regal, his late '80s Bonneville, an under-the-car cover lifted & chromed pickup (curious to find out what this is), and something new - a mid '80s Trans Am (maroon over silver). I decided to see if there was anything parked in the shop area and voila! - there was the '87 GP getting some spring maintenance done. This was the first time I saw the car completely uncovered, and was surpirsed to see it had mid-'80s T/A rims on it (not how I saw almost two years ago). Anyway, returned Saturday afternoon and got these shots (not great, from my droid phone): I've really got to find the money to buy this car
