Which is fine with me, because IT'S A TRUCK! Trucks have always had wide-open grilles for air. Cars have only recently started using this styling cue because so many people have bought trucks/SUVs over the past 10 years it's now the trend for cars. Since cars are bottom breathers, there is no need for such large open grilles. I looked at the new 2013 Taurus & Taurus SHO at the NYIAS on Friday and most of the opening consists of plastic (like many of the other Fords using this styling trend)... it's not all open for air. Trucks = YES, Cars = NO.

hyper, I'm glad you brought up that point. Went to the NYIAS Friday with family and some friends. The friends are currently car shopping something in the 30+ MPG HWY rating. There was the EV ride along in the basement of the Jacob Javitz Center that we went on, me with just the Volt and them witb both the Volt and Leaf. They came away impressed with the Volt, but no so much with the Leaf. His main concern - what if you run out of battery in the Leaf, you're left dead on the side of the road - with the Volt, just keep gas in the tank and the on-board generator keeps the car going. He said the would have considered a Volt if not for price/finance restrictions they have (can't spend more than $20-24k MSRP, prefer leasing anyway for around $200/month) <sidenote: they are interested in a Cruze Eco now >

A BIG thank you to all above that "liked" my picture on FB. I know it's a silly endeavor, but it does mean something to me. Camino - I posted it Saturday, April 23 at 10:06 AM under my full name <Roger RosXXXXXX). No biggie if you can't find, I appreciate you searching. I'm up to 17 "Likes" so far in less than 24 hours, and I appreciate every one of them. I think that should have it in the bag, but it's up to GMC to make that call and I'll continue to appreciate every new "Like" I get -
If you are a Facebook user and would like to help me out, go to http://www.facebook.com/gmc and LIKE this picture: I'm trying for "GMC Fan of the Week" again Thanks in advance!

Let me guess... Mark is more interested in bringing us this fuel efficient version instead, based on his Ford Transit Connect comment: I'd rather be seen in this:
-
I could see the Granite trucklet being the main reason why GM would not want to import Holden Utes here, but even that trucklet was just a design study with no intent on production. GM's only fuel efficient truck planned for the near future is the new Chevy Colorado shown at the Thailand auto show. The only Granite model we occasionally hear about is the wagon/CUVB version. I'd bet money that you'll see the new Colorado (and hopefully the GMC version) on sale before the Granite pickup.

Very sad news, and I know Camino would agree. With Mark's statement, I know not to expect to see a 2012 Chevy El Camino next year. I guess if it is to come, it will be with the 2014 re-design. Such a shame, because no one offers a vehicle like this and GM could have had the upper hand (if sales took off, Ford would be late to the game with their Autrailian version). To move the focus of the question over to the Ford TransitConnect is lame, GM isn't going to offer a competitor to that either. He was simply avoiding the question. Sad because I thought he was the one rallying to bring the Holden products back over to the US market. At this time, I'm planning for a fun new vehicle purchase in the next couple of years. Top of the list is the much desired GMC Sierra regular cab, shortbed 4wd pickup. A Holden Ute, even in Chevy guise, would have been a contender (yes, I know there's still time for my plan, but what about those that want one now?). GM's reluctance to bring it now doesn't give me too much hope for the future, especially if they're crying CAFE blues for future product development now. I do hope GM reconsiders, because the Holden Ute and Sportwagon would be cool GM cars for me to drool over and dream of owning (and maybe pushing me to own one sooner rather than later).

Yesterday, I parked next to this: I think both Kirk and Picard would not approve of the front license plate being used on a vehicle like a Smart car Today, walking into work this was parked outside of the side entrance: There are at least three of these owned by executives at the pharma company I work for. There's one stealth gray metallic (or whatever Caddy calls it, that's GMC/Pontiac's name) and two of these dark red ones. If I'm not mistaken, there's a fourth one in silver. Love those 22" rims! For a moment there I dreamt that I won the latest OnStar contest and GM delivered my new truck to work for me

Yeah, the lower front bumper cover/foglight area is awful. I'd much rather have a regular Jeep Grand Cherokee. Any word on the Jeep Grand Wagoneer yet? Isn't that a NYIAS debut?
-
IntelliLink, MyLink... seems silly to call them different names. OnStar is OnStar no matter what GM vehicle you own, and it builds brand-recognition for GM to be consistent. Ford and Lincoln both use Sync, right? No different name for Lincoln, so why would GM feel the need to be different with their brands? Imagine average Joe/Josephine Consumer looking at Chevy and Buick/GMC vehicles and getting confused... Joe Consumer: "My Chevy has MyLink"; Jospehine Consumer: "Well, my Buick has IntelliLink, so it's better than your car"

Pretty sad when there's four brands and only one brand has a new product debut I was hoping for GM to surprise us with something else, if not two or three things, instead of just Detroit leftovers. Granted I'm excited to get to see the GMC Sierra All-Terrain HD Concept, and it seems that's where I'll spend most of my time in the GM displays (already saw the Buick Verano and Chevrolet Sonic at the Philly Auto Show in February, so the Malibu will be the only other GM vehicle to garner my interest). I guess I'm just use to seeing Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, and Hummer vehicles in addition to Buick, Chevy, Cadillac and GMC vehicles. Losing those four brands cuts down on my excitement level, and then when out of the remaining four there's not much else...
-
So, Chevy will be showing off the Malibu and a Sonic, GMC will have the Sierra HD All-Terrain Concept, Buick will have the Verano, and Cadillac will have ??? Seems pretty lame for a major city like New York... Chicago was lame too, so I guess the big show for GM is now just Detroit.

Here you go.... http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/2332996106.html If I had the $5,500 cash on hand and a garage to park this thing, I'd bevery tempted :smilies-38096:

A neighbor of mine has what I believe is a 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T in metallic blue with the R/T side stripes (matte black). He's had it since October or November '09 and bought it (he was leasing prior; had an awesome 2007 Cadillac CTS Sport sedan that he returned before buying the Challenger). He is still in love with that car to this day (he has a state car for work, drives the Challenger weeknights and weekends). He has reported no issues to me when asked how it's been for him. I think you'll do well with this car. And I agree with Satty in that a gunmetal-colored stripe/stripes would look nice with the silver over the usual 'black' stripes seen on these cars (along with Camaros and Mustangs).

We're taking the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor train from the Hamilton (Sloan Ave.) station to Penn Station-New York, and walking (or taxi) to the Jacob Javitz Center. You could probably take the river line from Burlington (which is near you I recall) to the Trenton Transit center and take the Corridor train from there. You'd get your choice of seats being the first station. Yeah, but the Hamilton Station is the next stop from Trenton, it's the Princeton Junction station that you have to avoid! Being that we're going early AM on Good Friday, I'm thinking traffic will be light. Taking the RiverLine is an option, but adds too much time for travelling (trust me, with a stroller & a 9 month-old infant, a five year old, two teenage boys, and four adults <friends of ours are going too>, driving to Hamilton is a much more pleasurable way to go versus connecting to different trains! I wanted to drive to NYC, but gas, tolls (turnpike & Lincoln Tunnel), and parking garage fee would be more than the NJ Transit tickets, plus I don't have to fight traffic to get into and out of the city. Are you staying over in NYC?

I am wishing that the Chevy Colorado will be on display, but I'm not keeping my hopes up (just like last year when I though the Cadillac XTS concept would have been there).
-
I know the GMC Sierra HD All-Terrain concept truck will be there, as well as the new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. Does anyone know what else will be there (and I don't mean 2011 production vehicles ). I'm headed there Friday with the family and as usual, can't wait!!

I saw for the first time 'in the wild' a new blue Mack Titan - these are Mack's heavy-duty haulers:
-
I like the added wood trim on the steering wheel.
-
Tap-shift button on top of the transmission shifter? Seeing some of the new Chevy Colorado in the frontend... Don't like the bedazzled taillights... Camaro influences - taillights, gauge cluster (anything else?) Overall, I'm impressed by this car and it is enough for me to not want to look at a Kia Optima or Hyundai Elantra anymore.

I'm surprised no one here is talking about the atroicious e-brake handle sticking out of the console It looks like it is a electric emergency brake, with the button to the right of the transmission shifter. Also, 8 airbags standard, 2 optional (10 overall), rearview camera (camera is in the 3rd brake light on the trunk lid), 2.5L 4 cyl, a 35-mpg model (Eco?) to be announced soon (NYIAS), dark metallic blue is offered (referenced picture on Internet).
