for a very !!

I am planning to spend a couple of days soon to clean/detail/wax both the Envoy and G6. One area I want to focus on is the engine bay, as when I went to replace the air filter in the G6 Wednesday I noticed how horrible it looked under the hood. I used to wash the engine bay of my '92 Cavalier Z24 every spring, but when I had a '95 Trans Am in spring of '98 and washed it it wouldn't restart for 3 hours. Since then I've neglected the engine bay for fear of damaging something electrical. Of course now I realize I just need to be careful when cleaning the engine areas. I don't intend to remove the plastic cover on top of the engine (unless it's needed), and plan to use Simple Green, a small brush, and my garden hose to give it a quick bath to freshen up the look under the hood. Should I be using something other than Simple Green? Should the engine be running or off? Since the air filters are contained in black boxes, do I need to cover them up any further with a plastic bag? Any area(s) of the engine bay that I should definitely stay away from? Thanks in advance for your input, advice & suggestions!!

Thanks for that suggestion, Oldsmoboi.. as you can see I was able to download it and make use of it already!

Would someone kindly resize this picture so that I can use it in my signature without violating size requirements? Thanks in advance!!

Wednesday morning I changed the air filter on the G6, added summer windshield washer fluid to the almost empty resevoir, and took it in for an oil change before going in to work. Envoy needs an oil change and air filter replacement soon too. Both vehicles were washed the Saturday before I left on vacation (5/21) and still look clean, but both are in need of a full detail wash/claybar/waxing and interior treatment soon too.

Fisker Karma Arrives Onto Dealer Lots In July*
GMTruckGuy74 replied to William Maley's topic in Karma
The dealership in Pennsylvania is not that far from me (in Langhorne, PA near the famous Reedman-Toll Auto World). I'll have to make a visit to check the Karma out in person when they get one in -

Gassed up the G6 Monday night at the local station and they charged $3.67 for regular, though other stations are that price too unless you pay by credit/debit (where they charge you $3.75 )

The exhaust note on your Sierra was perfect, and I have never forgotten this information you told me that day at Camino's barn (that you had a Menonites do it for you in Lancaster). I'm glad you shared the name of the shop finally I may have to consider them for either the Envoy or a future purchase down the road.

ChevyVoltFirstResponderinfo1.pdf Received that in my email from the fire chief last week while on vacation. I'll read it, however as fire police I won't have anything to do with that part of the job but I thought some of you might enjoy the read too!

Chevy 100 - Special Edition *UPDATE: Anyone want a copy?

*BUMP* Anyone else? We need only 2 more people!! -
I filled up the Envoy last night (took about 15 gallons, slightly more than half a tank) and averaged 15.9 MPG going 230.8 miles. The D.I.C. said I averaged 15.4 in that timeframe. The G6's D.I.C. usually states approximately 24-26 MPG.

While "on duty" at a local Memorial Day Parade with the fire department on Monday (5/30), I got to watch the parade go by and saw this beautiful '37 Cord: And another county fire department still owns one of their original fire engines... a '50s Mack B-Model that was restored recently:

I was lucky to find this at Best Buy Saturday night before my trip: Blackviper, I can't thank you enough for the camera suggestion. I LOVE my new camera and enjoyed having it on the trip to Walt Disney World.
well I don't think they are called GMT anything anymore.

well I don't think they are called GMT anything anymore.
So the platform will have a Greek-sounding name now (Magma or something maybe?)
Makes sense since the Terrain is a Theta and the Acadia is Lambda and the Granite, if produced, would be on Delta or Gamma. However, doesn't the all-new Chevy Colorado have a GMT name though? *EDIT: found that the Chevrolet Colorado Show Truck is code named GMI-700... so maybe Oldsmoboi is right in that the acronym GMT is gone and GMI is in? link: http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2011/03/first-look-next-generation-chevrolet-colorado-show-truck.html

I'd like to see what you've got, even though we know what they look like!

Oldsmoboi - thanks for the explanation of what I need to look at. Leaving for Florida bright & early Monday morning... will need to find something in a store this weekend. Is there any brand to stay away from? Any idea what store would sell what I need?

I didn't find any of the Extreme memory cards last night on my search, actually held off buying any to see if maybe Best Buys, HR Gregg, or PC Richards and Sons may carry the Extreme memory cards since Target, Staples, Office Dept and Wal-Mart don't. However, today I received an email from Staples with next weeks ad (Sun 5/22-Sat 5/28), and they are offering these two memory cards on sale: Sale Price = $24.99 (Reg. price $34.99; $10 in savings) Sale Price = $34.99 (Reg. price $79.99; $35 in savings) Would you recommend the SanDisk Ultra 16GB? That's quite a buy, and I'd be there at opening Sunday to get it.

Thanks Z-06, for both the congrats and the info on the SD card. Would this work as well? SanDisk Ultra8 GB Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) ($29.95 @ OfficeDepot.com - though I would check with the local store) Yes, we're traveling to Orlando, FL next week (May 23-27) for a trip to Walt Disney World. That's what prompted my decision to buy a new camera right now. After attending the NYIAS and seeing how slow my 2004 Nikon CoolPix digital camera has gotten (and I feel pic quality is down too), and especially with missing my Canon EOS Rebel XSN 35mm film camera, I decided it was time to upgrade to a better digital camera to get great photos of our family vacation.

Sounds to me you should just keep the camera for your own enjoyment. They still sell film... including 35mm, but selection is suffering... I know several companies have discontinued film lines... like Kodak's Kodachrome. I imagine for the good stuff you'd have to go to a camera shop. Not being an camera aficionado, I've never walked into a camera shop. I just may decide to keep it and buy film for special occasions, especially when the 75-300mm lens would come in handy. I spent a pretty penny on that camera in 2002 or 2003, and it is in great shape. I might buy a roll of film for my WDW trip and try taking some detail pictures with that camera too (like of tall architecture - Tower of Terror, Spaceship Earth, The Tree of Life, Main Street Train Station and Cinderella's Castle, to name a few). It's been years since I've used it and I did enjoy the quality of the pictures it took. Plus I couldn't sleep at night selling it for $50 on eBay or Craigs List

I got the Canon PowerShot SX30 IS 14.1 camera today at Wal-Mart. I called two different local Wal-Marts that were out of stock, my wife went to anotehr one last night for baby stuff and checked (out of stock), I went to my local Target on the way in to work and they had 3 available but at $429.99, and finally a Wal-Mart in Hamilton that I stopped in had two left for $399.00 and I bought it. Its currently sitting in the truck all alone, and I'm anxious to get home to check it out. I need to see how much Staples and Office Depot are selling 8MB memory cards - Wal-Mart wanted $18.97 for theirs - so that I have plenty of space for my upcoming trip to Walt Disney World. Thanks everyone for your comments, and special thanks to you BV for your input.

Thanks BV for the information. Is this the right one? http://www.pcrichard.com/catalog/product.jsp?modelNo=SX30IS I will definitely check this camera out and soon (going to WDW next week, so I want a better camera). You're right in that I am doing recreational photography (car shows, family pictures, etc) and don't need anything too complicated. I definitely want something with a good zoom on it, and that Canon PowerShot SX30 IS 14.1 seems to fit my needs/wants. I have to decide whether I want to keep my old 35mm SLR Canon or try to sell it without being raped. I still love and would love to use it, but I haven't bought film in ages. Do stores still sell 35mm film (seriously)?
