  1. If I'm not mistaken, GM started this trend with the 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. I leased a '99 Grand Am GT1 Sedan with the chrome-clad aluminum rims while I was working at a Buick, Pontiac, GMC dealership. The used car sales manager showed me one day in the showroom how the "chrome" was basically a plastic cover over top the aluminum rim. He said GM must be testing this out for use on other vehicles... this was almost 12 years ago!!
  2. Thanks for posting this information, and your pros and cons, Paolino. I too am very interested in this car, I can't wait until they hit my local dealer's lot so I can take one out for a test drive. The wife likes the Verano, but likes the LaCrosse much better, and I like the overall size of the LaCrosse but feel we should look at a more fuel efficient commuter car since we have the Envoy for family duty.
  3. Yeah, the Buick is definitely cloudy. I read the owners manual last night and see that the headlights are held in by two clips and the cable for the headlight power. It should be easy for me to do this then since I can take them out of the car completely and not have to tape up the hood/fenders. I like Meguire's products and feel this should have as good of a result as Dodgefan's 3M kit gave him.
  4. I'm on the 3rd floor of a large office building in Princeton (NJ) and we shook pretty good for about 15 seconds. DC is evacuating right now, seems many buildings in NYC that evacuated are letting people back in (have ABC news on my computer).
  5. While buying some items as a congrats gift for my step-son's '98 Regal LS purchase, we picked up this kit for the headlights: Do you think this is just as good as the 3M kit?
  6. A very belated Happy Birthday to you, sir!
  7. Do you happen to have any other shots of this beautiful 1956 GMC? I'd love to see more of it
  8. Congrats on the new replacement car, Bill, and welcome back to GM ownership! I was very impressed with the '11 Cruze LTZ RS sedan I drove at the Main Street in Motion event in Philly last month. I thought the turbocharged 1.4L 4 cyl engine would seem underpowered, but it moved that little car quite well. However, as impressed I am with the Cruze, I'm more in love with the upcoming Buick Verano (and can only imagine I'd be happier with the 2.4L 4 cyl engine in that car). As always, best of luck with the new car and many happy motoring miles!
  9. Went to a nearby town's twilight car show (4-8PM) and afterwards took a ride down the road to see a classic car & truck dealer's lot... next door to the used car lot was a rundown gas station with a bunch of vehicles (old & new-ish), in a somewhat junkyard like arrangement. All the way in the back was this '70s GMC motorhome that caught my eye: Sorry for the crapy long-distance shot. I didn't dare trespass on private property for a closer look
  10. Congrats on the new purchase. My wife would be jealous! She was just "window shopping" new 2011 LaCrosse's last week while my step-son was buying a used '98 Buick Regal LS. I told her to have them evaluate her '08 G6 V6 Sedan as a trade-in on a new LaCrosse, but she says we can't afford a new car at this time (I think she couldn't bear the news of the interest rate we'd qualify for and the higher payment as a result). Another Perrine purchase, I presume?
  11. He's in He's already making plans for his first "trip" when he gets his license (driver's test is scheduled for 4:00 PM on Thursday, September . For a congratulations gift, the wife and I picked up a new steering wheel cover, air freshner (his wish!), Meguier's premium headlight restoration kit, and new wiper blades. He wasn't very excited Saturday morning (I think he was more nervous), but once we left the dealership with him behind the wheel, I saw this in my rear viw mirror the whole way home:
  12. Well, it came "home" on Saturday! I'll add it to the garage soon, and to the members ride section once I've had the chance to take some of my own pics (the one above was taken by my wife & her iPhone).
  13. That reminds me, I owe the NJMVC $71.50 before the end of this month to renew the Envoy's registration
  14. No, no where near book value. However, I will heed your advice and keep an eye out for a letter from the governor
  15. It's a one-owner car, purchased from a Cherry Hill Buick dealer (dealer owner retired and closed in '07) on 9/2/1998, recently traded in at the Buick-GMC dealership I've been purchasing from (Marlton, not far from the closed Buick dealer). Overall the car is in really good shape for being 13 years old... the exterior has some dings & one small dent, but nothing extremely noticable... the interior (leather) is in great shape, with the steering wheel rim being in the worst condition out of the whole interior (I've noticed this on a bunch of '97-'01 Regals where the color seems to wear off). The engine runs good, it stops great with no squealing or pedal vibrations, has a ton of owner's notes on gas mileage in the glovebox, along with the pictured original 1998 winow sticker. It needs to be detailed - they took it in as a trade on 8/3/11, so it's going through the shop today for the safety inspection then to the detailer. We asked to take delivery Saturday morning.
  16. Thank God NJ isn't that way (at least yet)!! When I bought the '96 Fleetwood in '09, I was able to pay sales tax on the amount the seller reported the sale price "as" on the title
  17. It still had its original window sticker in the glovebox: It will be coming "home" on Saturday
  18. The Buick-GMC dealer I leased my first Envoy (2005) at and bought the G6 (2008) from has in the local newspaper advertisement a 1998 Buick Regal for sale. It has 124k on it and is within my step-son's price range ($2995), though I'm hoping they can give us a break as previous customers (I still get the vehicles serviced there). We're going tonight to see it, so I'll post about it more later.
  19. I got the red Holden Ute this past weekend (Sunday) at a Target. I like the atomic green better (1st release), as mine looks pinkish-red.
  20. The Bravada seller is not teturning email or phone calls... so that one is off the list. My step-son actually likes the W-body '97-'04 Buick Century and Buick Regal... a small used car dealer down the road from us has these two for sale that he's bugging me to take him to see: 2001 Buick Century: 134K MILES, $1,800 http://southjersey.craigslist.org/tid/2547319089.html 1997 Buick Regal: 119,409 miles, $2,300 http://www.theautocorral.net/vehicle_pages/2G4WB52K1V1403525-1997-Buick-Regal.shtml Thoughts?
  21. You're selling the Suburban? How much are you asking for it?
  22. I didn't include this, as I thought it was already posted here (a quick look and I didn't see it): Again, from the article link above.

  24. My advice: don't rush into anything just yet. It will likely take some time for the insurance company to handle the totalling of your car, factor in any changes to your policy, pay off the remaining balance and give you whatever is left over. I'm assuming you have a rental car provided by the insurance company to use, right? if yes, at least you have wheels until the insurance claim is closed out. Use this time to figure out exactly what you want to do about a vehicle. You're too far off from GM's new compact trucks, so you;d have to consider another Colorado or Canyon if you went that route or maybe another full-size regular cab standard bed? Truck clearance time is now! Or you could consider another Ford or Chevy Cruze, if you want to continue with a fuel-efficient car right now (you like VWs, so maybe consider the model of your choice). However, don't rush into anything just yet, you have wounds to heal - personal and automotive - and the control lies with your insurance company. Use this downtime to figure out what yuou might be able to financially do when the time comes. End of August & September are usually the best time of the year to buy a leftover new vehicle with great deals.
  25. So sorry to learn of your accident, the loss of your Ford, and your injuries, Bill. Thankfully you suffered nothing more than bumps and bruises in what could have been a much worse scenario. The car may be lost, but what is more important is that you walked away from this accident with your life. Now I'll pray for a speedy recovery for you, an insurance company that will treat you with respect and fairness in the totalling of your car, and that nothing worse comes out of this situation for you.
