For years there was a Matchbox collectors show held at the Hershey Lodge, pretty big for what I can remember of the advertising back then (I think it was held in June). I never went to any of those, but they were advertised heavily in the amusement park. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it to this show either, but hopefully it did well enough that it will become an annual event at the museum and maybe with more advanced notice I can plan this in

Okay, how did we lose sight of this GMC topic by moving to Plymouths and now ghost cars burning in the night?!?!

Next-Gen Chevy Colorado Gets Ready for World Debut
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Chevrolet
I received the latest edition of Truck Trend in yesterday's mail and the Chevy Colorado concept (Thailand version) is on the cover. I have yet to read any of the magzine, let alone the cover section. Well, I can't agree about its age at debut, but it definitely showed off its cheapened interior that was never addressed in its lifetime with a true MCE. -

According to the second article, When it goes on sale in Thailand, the Colorado will be available with an extended or crew cab - so it is very likely that if the new Colorado (and hopefully a GMC version) goes on sale in the US, a regular cab will be offered as it traditionally has been. Which could be another reason why the Holden Ute will not be offered for sale here too. -

I'm going to be in the minority here but feel a more direct replacement for the original early '80s Jeep CJ-8 (Scrambler) pickup would be more desirable to me, especially the Jeep JT pickup version we've seen pictured here numerous times before. I was in Wildwood (NJ) last Saturday for the annual NJ state firemen's convention and the Wildwood FD runs the parade. They still have in use a Jeep Scrambler that they use as a runabout during the parade to make sure there are no large gaps and to keep things flowing smoothly. Though it was flying by up and down the street, it is still one cool looking Jeep truck. Now if Jeep intends to replace the Comanche pickup, then I guess an extended cab is okay. I know the Gladiator concept (pictured above) was Wrangler-like in styling but seemed more fitting (size wise) as a Comanche replacement.

The Details About The UAW Contract For GM
GMTruckGuy74 replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
I sure hope that is referring to the Colorado/Canyon replacement and that the US gets these for sale here -
I can definitely see the Ford Super Duty F350/F450/F550 chasis cab truck taking over for the E350 chasis cab for ambulance duty if the econoline van goes away. A lot of state-wide (NJ) fire depts (in fire dept-specific magazines I read at the station) are switching over to these. My dept has two older E350 ambulances, and decided to stick with that model for the new 2011 one.
-
SAmadei, I agree with that statement of yours. I can't believe Ford would give up on the commercial market with the E-350 chasis cab (for example, my fire dept took delivery of a new Ford E-350 ambulance in June). I can't see the Transit Connect becoming Ford's ambulance answer! Okay, I know the Transit may fit that role much better than the Transit Connect, but the Sprinter never really seemed to capture any of that market. I was in Wildwood Saturday for the NJ Firemen's Convention Parade and all of the ambulances there were either Ford or GM (more Topkick & Kodiaks than Expresses/Savanas). Not one Sprinter in sight, and in my part of Burlington County only one hospital runs Sprinters - Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro. I can't see Ford making an exit with the Econoline just yet.

Matchbox Show Returns - September 25th! If you're a collector or fan of Matchbox cars then we have just the event for you. The Diecast Toy Exchange is hosting a Matchbox Collector's show here at the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum (AACA) on Sunday, September 25 from 9AM to 4PM. The event will allow visitors to add to or begin a Matchbox collection as all cars will be for sale. Vendors will be showcasing toy cars from the entire history of Matchbox -- from the first car in the 1950's all the way through present day vehicles. To support this event, the AACA Museum is offering $5.00 admission (half the normal admission price) to encourage visitors to attend this one-day show. This year's show model is a Model A Hot Rod limited to 72 pieces available. {see picture above} - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Should be a cool event to go to, if anyone is interested...

A spotting our dear C&G leader would enjoy - a beautifully restored black '66 Olds Toronado on Route 295 North getting off the ramp into Hamilton Township (his old haunting grounds). Personalized NJ license plate read 66TORO.

1991 Chevrolet Suburban V1500
GMTruckGuy74 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
You're possibly correct there; however, there's no way I could afford one new today! Plus it would have to be a GMC, and I need the Yukon XL's frontend restyled before I would consider it (just use the Sierra's frontend and viola! I'm wantin' one) -
Cool load you've got there, Olds Guy!! Especially the A-Team van, I'm on the hunt for that myself Is the '59 Chevy Wagon (sedan delivery) a Trea$ure Hunt? And what is that purple Matchbox truck??? Btw, I finally found the MBX 5-pack of the Modern Rides (just had to have the purple Ute, blue Fisker, and white CTS wagon!!). Keep on postin', you're my source of what to search for!!

So, the question now is will GM follow suit and bring over Opel vans to replace the GMC Savana/Chrevrolt Express? Not much, if anything, has been mentioned about the full-size vans (redesign or update). They have been on-market as such since 1996 (GMT600), and other than tweaks over the years have had one MCE in 2003 (GMT601). With the full-size pickups and SUVs expected to arrive in 2014, will the vans be continued or discontinued?
