  1. I think all vehicles today that have a model produced 10 or 20 years ago has 'gained' weight and girth (Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra, etc). While at the AACA show in Hershey I saw a newer Silverado parked next to a mid-'80s one and remarked to myself how much bigger the new trucks are to their distant past incarnations.
  2. I've sat in a couple Silverados, for a truck they seemed fine, likewise for the Suburban (same dash as higher line Silverados). I had an F150 rental last year, the dash was a mess of too many wierd elements, too many cutlines and very cheap plastics. Personally, I like the "basic" dash layout offered in the W/T, SL/LS, and SLE/LT model interiors of the Sierra/Silverado (not that the luxury dash [sLT/LTZ] isn't nice, but to me it's too car-like for a truck). But as Oldsmoboi pointed out, they share in parts with models no longer produced by GM and the new interiors of GMs vehicles have gone far above and beyond what any GM interior has offered to the consumer, so why should the cash-cow pickups and SUVs suffer still? I also agree with your sentiment on the Ford F-Series interiors. I've driven one 2011 F-150 (last November), the model below the XLT but not the basic work truck, and sat in F-150s of differing models at both the Philadelphia and New York Auto Shows this year and feel as if Ford is trying to be 'techy' & 'busy' with their dash design. I did not like the feel of the $37k XLT or the higher priced models dash/interior and thought that GM should not be the only one suffering from critics reviews of full-size truck interiors.
  3. I have to agree with Oldsmoboi in that the interiors should have received a redesign for 2011 or 2012 (the full-size trucks have been on-market since late-2006). What really sucked was this year's Sierra All Terrain HD concept truck (as seen in my signature), which used the production Sierra cab and interior (with Escalade doors) but dressed up with more soft-touch material, new seat design, and embroidery on the headrests). Some new bodyside moldings and an interior job could have breathed new life in the 2011's or 2012 models. But I guess GM figured the new full-sizers will be on-market soon enough (2013/2014) to pass over a MCE with the GMT-900 interiors.
  4. What's hard to tell from my picture is the "chrome" factor of the new Z71 decal... the red and the silver are chromed and very shiny in direct sunlight, which is why I had to stand to the side and angle the camera to get the picture I posted. The 4x4 decal is also chromed for 2012 and I would suspect it too had a redesign (have not seen this one yet).
  5. I'm liking the new 2012 Z71 decal, as it is similar to this one: That one was used only two model years, 1999 and 2000, before being replaced by this one for the 2001-2007 (Classic models, not the new GMT-900 models) that I did not like:
  6. I'm on a "shortie" (okay, I know nowadays that since there are three bed lengths, they're not called "shorties" anymore but standard beds <-- but that sounds so blah to me!) hunt... First I saw this '11 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Regular Cab Standard Bed Z71 Off-Road 4WD that I already posted about Friday night in Lebanon, PA on the way to & from my hotel for the Hershey AACA show: Recently on the way to & from work a Chevy dealer in Lawrenceville, NJ (they say they're in Princeton!) has had this on a lift on their lot, barely visible from the highway, and yesterday on my way home I noticed it was moved to the ground (so a stop on the way in this morning got me this picture)... '11 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2LT Regular Cab Standard Bed 4WD: I noticed two other Silverado's on the lot (std bed, equipped the same way - one white, one black). Finally, dealers ordering these trucks!!
  7. for a very that is full of easy-to-find desirable die-cast collectibles!!
  8. Spotted a 2012 GMC Sierra sporting the new 'chrome' Z71 decal on Saturday in Lebanon, PA (at Ebersole Buick-GMC): For comparison, here's the Z71 decal used from 2007 through 2011:
  9. I will definitely get you the money by the end of this week... I spent a little too much at Hershey between Friday & Saturday
  10. Also, 36k on it and they want $31k? The price one has to pay to play.
  11. But isn't the Ute a RHD model? I'm assuming the wrecked G8 could have given its LHD dash? Could it be a Middle East Ute (are they LHD)?
  12. I wonder what the story is on that one? Me likey too!
  13. Here's a '99 Chevy Suburban 1500 4WD to consider: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/ctd/2642328329.html
  14. This one is still listed (but that doesn't mean it's not already sold): http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/2593531212.html I also tried looking for that '87 Jimmy with the 4-speed manual in Bristol, PA, but the listing couldn't be found.
  15. Glad to see the blue Holden Ute is out already. Saw on eBay in limited quantities, making it too expensive. I'm patient, so I'll wait for it to hit my local shelves. Got the green, red, and purple 5-pack releases, all I need is the blue! Hard to believe all have been issued in one year (well, the green was released in 2010).
  16. Good news, though expected and a little late. I'm guessing we'll see this in Chicago, as that typically is the truck show (however, GM could be saving this for the home show [Detroit]). That is now my current interest. Hopefully GM won't wait too long to make this announcement, as I'm sure it will be asked by the press and dealers alike continually.
  17. I too was thinking of you ocnblu the past two days while perusing Hershey. A lot of Corvairs of all kinds were available for sale, ranging from '60 all the way up to the end ('69). Coupes, hard-top sedans, post sedans, vans (but no pickups). Everyone I crossed paths with I thought to myself, "Bill would love this one". And it went on and on throughout the two days
  18. I like this! Thanks Horse!! I usually think that anyway when looking at used vehicle prices... I'll remark to myself that "they're right-on the mark" or "what a total rip-off", so it came right to mind. However, walking through the car corral yesterday at Hershey, I'm thinking "what were they smoking?" to be more appropriate!
  19. I'm kinda liking this over my own suggestions
