  3. Thanks for the info, Drew. Are oil changes easy to perform by oneself on the 3.5L V6? My son was in Motor Transport & Motor Pool in the UMSC, and he stated he would like to do his own oil changes. I'd too like to find a 3800 V6 powered car, but I've always had a soft spot for the Intrigue and as long as it's a reliable & dependable car, I'm okay going with the 3.5. I'm figuring two years of service and hopefully he'll be established in a career that he can get something newer on his own. We're going to see it Wednesday night. This is being sold by my Buick-GMC dealer and I know they'll let me take it to my local mechanic for an inspection.

  5. Thanks, all. My son's 1998 Regal LS with the 3800 V6 suffered the head gasket issue and was a costly repair (thankfully no other engine damage was caused). I'm glad to see post 2000 3800 V6 engines did not suffer from this problem. Down side is I've been so busy with work and the weather hasn't cooperated last weekend - both Buick Regals are sold. A local used car dealer just got in this 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT we're going to go check out tomorrow: http://southjersey.craigslist.org/ctd/5949307983.html Its a little more than I want to spend but it looks good from the pictures.
  6. Thanks all for your insight. The wife likes the dark gray one too. Something is drawing me to the tan one, maybe the rims? I plan to contact the seller of the gray one tomorrow. I know my son's '98 Regal LS with the NA 3800 V6 suffered from the head gasket issue and was an expensive repair job. Is this an issue with the 2001 and/or 2002 model years?
  7. From someone who has seen his work and personal life get busier and busier with less time for pleasure activities on forums, I can empathize. Good luck finishing the kitchen project! By the way, I had a 2017 Buick LaCrosse Essence loaner from my dealership for 24 hours back before Christmas. While I enjoyed the new LaCrosse and found the electronic shifter "cool", I found it sat too low to the ground compared to my wife's 2013 LaCrosse Premium I and wasn't as thrilled with the overall experience. I miss the blue ambient lighting and did not like the bright white ambient light and the fact that was less lighting was featured. I'll stick with the 2013 for a while
  8. My oldest son has been discharged from the USMC and is now back home. He's looking for employment in the law enforcement field and will need basic transportation. His mom and I are trying to help him get on his feet and have about $2k to spend on a car. Prior to entering the USMC in January, 2013, he had a 1998 Buick Regal LS that he loved. He asked me to find him another Buick Regal, if possible. I also found a 2002 Saturn SL2 nearby.   9. I'm watching it, since the first episode premiered. The first 4-5 episodes were a little slow for me, but the last couple really picked up the pace. I'm not much of a TV watcher myself, but I do enjoy WW.

  11. No luck with Rock Auto, daves87rs. However, the four sites dfelt provided all had the part. Issue is not price of item but price of shipping!! It costs slightly more than the price of the part. I may just call the dealership to compare prices and go from there. I appreciate both of your feedback.

  13. I'm in need of locating a new trim part for my wife's '13 Buick LaCrosse and don't want to visit the dealership. The trim part is for the trunk, it's the plastic cover for the right/passenger side hinge, as seen in the attached pictures. We bougth the car a year ago November 7th and the wife pointed out two weekends ago that the trim was missing. Of course the selling dealer (CarSense) said that their warranty ran out at 6 months and I should pursue this with GM/Buick under the balance of the factory warranty (I disagree, as the part's missing it did not break). Anyway, I'd appreciate suggestions on any GM parts online sources.
  14. If this is a successful truck, which I'm sure it will be, could it lead to a new ZR2 series for the Silverado? GM did show a Silverado ZR2 concept back at the 2009 SEMA show. Would be a nice way to use the R&D spent on the Hummer vehicle program on GM's current pickups.
  15. I for one am excited by the news of the wagon version of the Regal coming to the US market. I was in Copenhagen, Denmark in April and had the pleasure of seeing the current Opel Insignia wagon, among many other manufacturer's wagons not seen on US roads (Ford Fusion, for example). I was absolutely gaga over the Insignia wagon and being a fan of the current Regal, wished the wagon was offered here in the US. If the next Regal knocks the styling out of the park, I will definitely look to replace my GMC with a Regal wagon.
  16. I recently purchased Surf City Garage's Killer Chrome All Metal Polish for use on my 2015 GMC Canyon SLT chrome metal parts. If anyone here has used this product, I'd like to know if it would be safe to use this polish on the plastic chrome trim parts of my truck, such as the plastic chrome grille surround, front bumper plate, rear view mirror caps, and door handles. I don't want to damage the chrome finish of these plastic parts but would love them to shine after the next wash/wax/detail I do.
  17. The 6.0L Gas V8 engine is one hell of a strong motor and is the backbone of fleet gas sales. For business/fleet owners, maintenance costs are low for this proven engine. It is an iron block, not an aluminum block like the 6.2L Gas V8 engine offered in the 1500 series only. GM sells the 6.0L V8to other manufacturers who benefit from this strong motor. Ask anyone that owns a 2500/3500 HD with the 6.0L Gas V8 motor if they're not happy with the engine and I think you'll have a hard time finding someone who is dissatisfied with their motor.
  18. Thanks for the input, Drew. I didn't talk her out of it, I just wasn't as excited about the news as I guess she hoped I would be. I'm not a fan of the melted-look styling of the X3, and am not really a fan of BMW as a whole. A few people I know that own BMWs at my work say that they only lease because the new ones are too expensive to maintain once the warranty runs out. A colleague of mine has a 2001 BMW that she will be replacing soon. I asked her if she's getting another BMW since this one has been a very dependable car for her, and she replied "No!". She stated that her brother has had new ones and he's been disappointed in the reliability and can see they've cut costs. He's now in Lexus and couldn't be happier. I know my parents.... they typically buy a car and pay it off in 3-4 years, then keep it another 7-8 years. I'd hate for them to invest time and money into a "problem child", especially since they are down to a one-car household (the Saturn was sold Monday, so it's the VW for now). And once you drive over the curb you lose so much in depreciation, that if she has to car shop again I don't want her being burned on the trade-in. Nor do I want to see her go through the lemon law process either. And my dad was so excited about the VW in 2013.... didn't tell my sister or me about it until he brought it home. Once news of the diesel scandal broke, my parents wanted to get rid of it. Every dealer they've been to so far has low-balled them on the trade-in value, saying the brand is damaged and they will be saddled with it (boo-hoo for the dealer). I told them that's bull$hit, as they're being fed garbage to try to accept a lower trade in value (I also said I wouldn't deal with anyone that tried to make me feel bad about my previous car purchase choice).
  19. Hey gang... I'm not up to par on BMWs, and my parents are considering buying a leftover 2016 or new 2017 BMW X3. Mom recently turned 65, dad is 69 1/2 and mom has desired a BMW for a while. They sold off their 2005 Saturn VUE and want to downsize to just one car (my dad has a '13 VW Passat SE that he wants to trade in). Any reason they should not consider the BMW X3? The X3 is the model in their price range, mom test drove the X1 and couldn't stand it. I can get her GM Supplier pricing on a GM CUV/SUV, but the XT5 is a little more than what she wants to spend and she initially wasn't thrilled with the Buick Envision (though she said she'd reconsider it and take one for a test drive). I told her about the Ford Escape and Edge, Jeep Cherokee (I think the Grand Cherokee might be out of her price range but told her to look them over), and she looked at some Subaru models that impressed her but went on a "window shopping Sunday" when NJ dealers are closed. She said that this will be their last new car to take them into their 70s & 80s, so they want something reliable, dependable, and would last 10+ years. She also ended stating that, "I've always wanted a BMW" (guilt trip because I wasn't all gungho for her to get one). I'd appreciate insight, feedback, and thoughts, on the BMW X3 and any other suggestions for SUVs/SUVs under $45k that they should look into.
  20. I'm a 12 year resident of Westampton Township, in Burlington County, New Jersey (Exit 5 of the NJ Turnpike ). I grew up in Ewing Township, a suburb of Trenton (like Hamilton Township where Drew grew up). I've lived my whole life in New Jersey, I'd say no furhter than 35 miles from my place of birth (Helene Fuld Hospital, now known as Capital Health, in Trenton). From Ewing Township (1974-1999) I moved to Lawrenceville Township (1999-2001), then to Bordentown Township (2001-2004), and now seem planted in Westampton Township (2004-present). I like where I live, as I can get to Philadelphia in ~30 mins, NYC ~70 mins, and the Jersey shore towns anywhere from ~45 mins to 2 hours. I've got several international airports to choose from to travel the country and the world, and I-95 in my backyard to travel up and down the eastern seaboard of the US. AmTrak, though only taken once on a trip to DC, is also close by and I desire to travel west on a train trip in the near future (bucket list).
  21. Sorry to learn of your issue, ocnblu. Work, the fire dept, and the family have consumed most of my time the past few months and I have not followed much on the Twins (online). I had no clue until reading this post that the oil line can be a problem on our trucks. Is there anything I can have the dealer do to check for this problem? I'm planning to take the family in the Canyon on a road trip to Colonial Williamsburg (VA) in two weeks. It was recently serviced by the dealer (July 26) for routine maintenance and a recall issue (trailer hitch), but nothing was mentioned to me about the oil line.
  22. Oh, I don't know if I agree with that, Drew. Every Avalanche I saw on Chevy dealer's lots in 2012 and 2013, when I was actively looking to purchase one, was priced in the $48-$52k range, and these were the LT-trimmed models. The LTZ, the one I drooled for, was approaching $55-$57k. With the price that new 2016 crew cab pickups are selling at ($52k and up), I think the Avalanche would have continued to sell if it was updated along with the Suburban. I was hoping that the new mid-size twins were going to spawn an Avalanche-like model, hence the full-size Avalanche's departure. The Chevy Silverado High Desert concept tells me that the Avalanche isn't really dead with the GM designers
  23. I'm no expert on this subject, but I believe the Avalanche was hurting the Suburban sales, since you needed a Suburban body/frame to make the Avalanche. I regret not pursuing an Avalanche a few years back, as it offered the best of both SUV & Pickup worlds for me (I'm a stickler for GMC-branded vehicles). GM designed an Avalanche-like bed accessory seen on the 2015 Chevy Silverado High Desert concept: This would work for me with a Sierra Crew Cab, as I wasn't interested so much with the Avalanche's mid-gate as I was with the covered bed storage features. Seeing as how I have the Canyon now, I'd really considered this bed insert for a mid-size truck too. GM is foolish for not putting this option into production ASAP for both its truck lines.
  24. Are those rims available to retail consumers? I love those steel rims and Jeep has been using them on their concepts for years.
