  1. Cat.
  2. I smell a Pulitzer.
  3. This new commercial for Lexus explains how they reinvent the way "we" see in the night with such innovative features as a "heads up display" and "new illuminating headlamps". Both of these features are nothing new but they have a jazzy little commercial and imply they are there own well thought out ideas. That's all fine and good but if I did not know better I would believe they thought of these "innovations" I can recall Pontiacs and I think even Olds' with HUD from nearly 20 years ago. And now GM cuts 1,000,000,000 from their own advertising budget. If anyone wants to watch. Its not a bad commercial and must congratulate the marketing gurus. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGCfoz8GvlU
  4. You missed the memo. Tell a big enough lie long enough... Merkel says Opel not systemically crucial-source Wed Mar 4, 2009 10:20am GMT Email |Print | Reprints [-] Text [+] BERLIN, March 4 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel told party colleagues that General Motors (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) unit Opel was not systemically crucial to the German economy, a conservative official said on Wednesday. Merkel made the comments at a party meeting on Tuesday, a CDU official who attended the meeting and requested anonymity told Reuters. Ministers in Merkel's cabinet have frequently said that the government would not allow the failure of financial institutions deemed to be of "systemic relevance" to the German economy. (Reporting by Andreas Moeser) I see you're an optimist...in more ways than one. :AH-HA_wink: It would appear to this unbiased observer that it's not the industry that has the support rather the economy and more important perhaps the upcoming elections. Don't confuse politics with your grandiose delusions.
  5. I'd rather see the rear wheels doing the driving but can see pluses for either configuration. Possibly the worst pit of your stomach feeling in a Front Wheel Drive car is feeling the back end come around, in any weather but when you really aren't ready for it, like having the floor drop.
  6. Maybe so but you cant change source info. You know those little numbers at the bottom of the page; footnotes. Any student of journalism or anyone with a shred of common sense (which isnt so common) can tell you its a resource and only as good as its sources. Just ask CBS or the NY Times, or Fox news or....
  7. O and tremendous loss to the automotive community. Dont know where we all would be without an opel.
  8. Good ol' der Booger is more like it. What kind of roll?
  9. Sounds like a holding pattern. For now; prudent. Look whats going on with all these guys. This too will pass.
  10. This is hypothetical and you are living in a dream world. It's best you un-f@#k yourself and adapt to the present realities and quityerbitchin no offence. Whining about things never helps the situation. If we all had our way energy concerns, environmental destruction and terrorism wouldn't exist and this would be Utopia but it's not, this is called reality deal with it constructively. Sorry to burst your bubble.
  11. V12s make nice noises too. As do 10's.
  12. That's a good looking truck.
  13. It's always the fault of someone else. Boo f@#kin hoo. My heart is bleeding.
  14. Def a beaut...
  15. And what else will they do with all their billions and billions of pocket change? Ever play a losing game of monopoly--not much difference. A hotel on baltic? Sure, why not?
  16. Gee? was that supposed to be subtle?? Damn near blew my speakers out.
  17. I remember a story about a nun that was afraid of the water and a priest offered to help her get over her fear. She went along with it and one day they both went to a nearby lake. After a few akwward moments she couldn't believe it she was in the water that long and it was going so well. Strengthened by this she asked, will I really sink if you take your finger out? OK...if you didn't like that... How do you get a nun pregnant? Dress her up like an atler boy. No offense intended, all in good fun.
  18. This country was founded by a bunch of rich white landholding slave owners that refused to pay their taxes.
  19. For the hell of it I tried the first poll but had no candidate over 50 percent then tried this one and got Giuliani and Kucinich for a tie, with Dodd and Clinton right behind. At this point Obama, Paul, Richardson, or Kucinich would have had my support. Even McCain is looking better by the day. I don't put much faith in these surveys suffice to say I wonder how many others might.
  20. Smart!
  21. Perhaps not but I thought it was fabulous.
  22. Are you sure about that? This sort of technology sounds like steps in the right direction. Personally I'm not wild about the CAFE per se but that too is part of the grander vision. We'll all find out soon enough.
  23. But they sound so coarse and unrefined as they pull away from you.
  24. Realistically Toyota hybrids made a dent in the market recently. It is a shame the Ev was canceled but at a time of 25$ barrel and pump gas at or under 1.00 and almost complete lack of environmental concerns it was a gamble that did not pay off. This year saw the acknowledgment of the word "green" to the vernacular and now a part of the dictionary. It is too bad the foresight was not there but that can't be changed. Developing and hopefully succeeding to get the Volt concept out in the next 3 to 5 years would be remarkable by any stretch. Technology like this can turn on a dime. In this instance it has in part due to the new CAFE legislation. But let's not forget the Hydrogen fuel cells that hedge the Volt bet. It's too bad ethanol gets lousy mpg but perhaps they are exploring that avenue, it may not be a boondoggle. The fact remains GM is committed to getting this put together and I don't think they are that careless or inept not to put something forth that delivers on their claims. This is not only about one car company, this potentially has the sway to effect the entire country if not the world. That is the bigger picture.
