HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL APPRECIATION THREAD !!!!
FloydHendershot replied to regfootball's topic in The Lounge
Dude..How old are you? Watch out tho, that chick wants to go somewhere. Can't do that kid $h! forever. May be the next Teri Hatcher. -
The question remains does Toyota have enough to focus on all fronts and maintain their so valuable reputation? Perhaps anectdotal but msn and yahoo autos aren't excactly brimming with satisfied camry buyers. Look for yourself. Are sacrifices being made in order for quantity to replace quality. Sounds like maybe 30 years ago in more than one way. When will this Toyota craze peak? What will be the defining moment that starts to turn people away or has it already begun?

GM drops Camry, Accord test drive program
FloydHendershot replied to buyacargetacheck's topic in Chevrolet
They probably got good feedback from people who declined to purchase an Aura. My instincts tell me people don't like to be put on the spot to make a choice. It might be better to let one reach their own conclusions rather than have it thrust upon them. Also, it almost reeks of desperation. It's a tough segment and with the new Malibu it's tougher. The product should speak for themselves but unfortunately having all three in a Saturn or Chevy dealer that is not the spin. -
The reference about better blends of gas isn't limited specifically to using acetone, it was just an assertion/suggestion by one person who claims to be knowledgable. Maybe instead of ethanol or in addition, I do't know. From the same perrson also said works best with carbureated motors. I did come across a google hit where aprrox 15-20 people kept records and it wasnt all that impressive, tho the ones where it worked were thrilled. Neons in particular were getting over 40 mpg. Same for some towing. I absolutely agree with your first comment. I can squeeze 2-3 mpg better just by paying more attention to driving habits. oh, and your last line got me thinking, Michael Waltrip took a huge hit from NASCAR because of an illegal additive that went unnamed. FWIW, the guy I quoted also claims that the sensors in some newer cars are able to determine if you are getting better than average economy and adjust the mixture so it runs richer. Now, I don't know about all that but makes for good reading. I guess the only way to know for sure is test it out.
-
Anyone ever try adding pure acetone into their gas? Two to three ounces per 10 gallons is supposed to increase mpg, improve combustion and performance without harming the engine or seals. It makes sense on the surface but am still a wee bit skeptical. (No, I'm not Scottish.) I understand that oil companies can make better blends that would benefit economy. Adding acetone is also supposed to burn cleaner and eliminate blackened tailpipes. As far as efficiency is concerned it makes you wonder why they add ethanol in some pumps because it doesn't exactly aid combustion Anyway, I'm not an expert on this and not one to buy into this $h! just because I read it somewhere but can someone add to this?

Glad you liked it. Maybe it's part of the new wave. Damn, what took so long?

The main point is another two seat roadster won't do jack $h! for Chevy's "image repair". A family sized sedan that can compete confidently with the Camry and Accord without fleet sales propping them up is what is needed for "image repair". Imagine the media reaction to the introduction of another two seat roadster without addressing the bread and butter segment. The fact is the kappa is a niche car that served a purpose. They were sold out year one and continue to sell well. The neck and neck global sales race with Toyota should be taken seriously and any action to widen the gap should be questioned on more than one level. Smaller and profitable is the goal. Volume is Chevy's gig. There is no reason to disolve these brands. At all. --I think it was summed it up somewhere earlier about being embarrassed to be seen in a Pontiac. That is the problem. If more people would think for themselves and drive what they like without fear of other peoples reactions this wouldn't be an issue. Everyone in minivans to Porches and Ferraris and Scions and Camrys get abused by all sorts of people. Grow a pair and drive what you want and like without fear of what someone else might think of you. Especially if its got the goods. Just my two cents.
-
It's not that bad looking and frankly the fact that most of you people don't like is somewhat encouraging.
-
There's nothing wrong with fleet sales. Someone's going to fill the void. You think if there were no domestic OEMs fleet sales would disappear? What would Europe do? Rent a benz? Do they even rent them? A sale is a sale.

why does GM allow toyota to say they have most powerful truck?
FloydHendershot replied to Newbiewar's topic in General Motors
GMC takes care of this BS with their new commercial for the Denali. Doubt they have the dough for the air time though to make it meaningful. Those Tundra commercials are getting rather filthy. See that house? I built that house? Congratulations. -
If the Aura is so much better, why is GM playing games?
FloydHendershot replied to GXT's topic in General Motors
It's completely ridiculous that someone who goes by the name harry the honda head or whatever is talking about blind loyalty and seeing the trees from a forest. How do you really feel Harry? You like Honda? Anyone so flippant to dismiss GM is living in a very limited past. I like to think the best years are still ahead. And that's saying a lot. it's been a long past. -
Add featuring the Pontiac Solstice as Jazz
FloydHendershot replied to 76ChevyTrucker's topic in Heritage Marques
That's awesome. Iv'e never seen a car that a hot girl couldn't sell. And maybe vice versa. -
Yeah well maybe its just time that Flint takes care of Flint. Its a pretty big world out there.

The Cerberus-Chrysler deal reconsidered
FloydHendershot replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in Industry News
Um, to my knowledge that's not what everyone is saying. Cerberus has their work cut out for them but their objective is clear. -
Wouldn't that mean a woman and Jewish. Maybe even a woman and an atheist. Tremendous loss. For who I don't know.

Pontiac places G8 and G6 GXP in rap video
FloydHendershot replied to RJB's topic in Heritage Marques
Hey at least its out there. There's nothing wrong with rap. No one has a gun to your head. Cadillac, Aston, Bimmer, and Benz aren't suffering. Good for fitty, and if he gets shot in it the publicity would be enormous. -
Because the vast majorityminority of the buying public are nufcking idiots, (that have entirely too much money) why else would the Camry be the best selling car in the USA? Why do people buy camry's and accords? Because people want to get where they are going. LOL Before you tight asses have a heart attack it was a joke. They have picked up where the US cars have left off and that is what the people who can afford new cars that arent rusted out piles choose to buy. and nice logic you genius. I don't even understand why this would be considered GM News.

My bad. Didn't know so many of you had a bug up your butts about this topic. V-8's rock!

Spied: Great Shots Of BMW’s Top-Secret X6!!!
FloydHendershot replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in BMW
That would be because its a sports activity vehicle. Don't you pay attention to the television? Looks more cayenne-ish. If it wasn't for the free mantainance I would never consider a pile like that. -
They're just hiding the spoiler. Looks dang nice.
-
Now thats a good looking little trucklet. I see so many Elements, scions, beetles and even minis used for delivery purposes. This looks to be an even better attention grabber. Nice. I just hope they get the word out there. GM's marketing and advertising flat is awful.

Where is the Tundra Hybrid?
-
You know something this was on the first page of "Feature Articles" and I originally thought it was a response to GM's decision to put off the V8RWD. How fortuitious. I wouldnt classify it as ancient unless your head is stuck in the sand. Horrible part however, I believe, I gather youll have to get another Datsun. No one wants to pay the premium for Ethanol either. The miles arent so good and its expensive, if you can even find it anywhere. And where I am from if you want to get someplace you should be prepared to be sitting in a car for a while. It gets costly to go from a to b which is what most people want in a car. Toyotas volume cars arent v8's and they are doing ok for themselves. Carving out a niche market might be nice but only for people like you. Unfortuneately for you your opinion on this matter is virtually worthless. You like the prius? Isnt she pretty just sitting there waiting to get all sorts o wonderful miles per gallon. So go and buy your 64 whatever or dream about being able to afford a Cadillac 16 that they will never ever build because they cant even get a 12cylinder motor to the market fast enough and meanwhile GM will figure on a plan to actually sell more cars for green money. The volt might be a good start especially if they plan on offering it with a regular powerplant as well, my guess to help eat manufacturing cost. It shall be interesting to see where this goes IMHO because of the current limbo status and the tentative nature of market, especially presently. Anyway Lost was coming on and couldnt squeeze this in.
-
Um, yeah, you need to reset the dials on your time machine. Its too bad(for you) but the v8 doesnt seem to be in the volume golden age. Unless they can make a v8 motor with 40 mpg no one wants to know about it. Hybrids and alternative fuels moreso are the wave of the future but MPG is going to be king.
-
Toyotas profit forecast is the lowest its been in almost a decade. That just might be a sign of things getting worse in north America but realistically the way trade is set up it makes more sense to export than to import. There are markets that are still growing and will continue to grow and with such a close race to be number one(for whatever reason) these growth markets are just as relevant.
