  1. In Atomic Metallic, no less.
  2. The whole Pontiac/Olds by GMC is VERY interesting... as a way to get around dealership and governmental issues... but I don't want a GMC emblem on it... or want it titled as a GMC.
  3. My GF's cat hates me. Its too the point where he chases me if I walk around, or he'll go up on the frig and attack my head as I walk by. Funny a 15 lb cat attacking the 6'4" 390 lb ape. Normally cats like me. I have a cat. But he's still a killer at heart. He's lived indoors all his life, yet when a few mice came in for the winter a few years ago, he caught them... which I was glad about. Unfortunately, cats will kill for sport... so properly fed outdoor cats really need a bell, to give the birds a chance. My dog at the other house loves rabbits... but he is so clueless, I don't see how he catches them. I've seen him walk right by them. But he's a good bunny-home-wrecker. He loves walking around the yard with a baby bunny in his mouth. Recently, as my mother was letting him in the house, he was smirking... he had THREE baby bunnies in his mouth that he wanted to bring inside. Needless to say, hilarity ensued as mom de-bunnied the dog. I have mixed feelings about his bunny habits... but the yard is overrun with them, so I have to accept it.
  4. Yeah, its supposed to lock. Thats only the start with Vinyl... usually I see it installed too tight... and it buckles when it expands. Ugh. Or people BBQ near it and it melts. Whoops.
  5. I'm considering it for the one house... Aluminum is too expensive and it dents. Vinyl is just cheap and cheap looking, IMHO. The Cement fiberboard is more than vinyl, but it lasts a long time and looks like a premium material compared to vinyl and aluminum... and it requires painting... but its such a stable product (compared to wood) and with good adhesion (compared to aluminum or vinyl), so the paint lasts a good time. Comes in some nice styles, too. Unless I'm really low on funds, the house will get fiber cement.
  6. Well, a big part of crap lumber is the trees they use... fast growing hybrids that are too soft. Comparing 2x4s from 50 years ago to todays... todays are so soft, I can put dents in it with my fingers... to wonder you can't make decent dimensional from it... its like a sponge. And don't get me started on this hardwood floors craze. I got a 50 year old house with severely abused REAL hardwood floors that look better than 1 yr old engineered wood, and feel SO much more solid underfoot. I can't believe people can step back and brag about the quality reno they did when its all Home Depot cheapo specials. Ugh. I have to start looking into reclaimed lumber.
  7. OMFG! He's got three arms... He's Zaphod Beeblebrox!
  8. I was surprised to see the backup sensors on the rear bumper. I'm not a fan of those... I think they look geeky, and I feel if you can't back up your car, you shouldn't have bought it. Was the backup sensors an option or part of a package? This is going to limit my secondhand Camaro options, as I would want a loaded one... but I definitely don't want backup sensors (or a sunroof). Of course, Silver isn't my thing and I'd rther see a Firebird, but it still, looks great. Your mom is very lucky.
  9. But thats on the front. His noise is in the rear.
  10. Ah, in NJ inspection sticker debauchery is a fine art. No inspection sticker? This years sticker is green and white? Put a box of Marlboro Menthols in the window. NJ gives out temporary pink cards... One puts this into the window ONLY WHEN DRIVING. Take it out and put it on the visor, out of the sunlight when not driving to keep it from fading. I have friends that have gone with one pink card for years. Probably a similar PA hack. ;-)
  11. Also, I doubt any cop is going to want to pull you over in crappy weather to hassle you... you're only driving it in crappy weather, so... And even so, in poor visibility, some of those inspection stickers are really hard to see.
  12. Yeah, fuel pump starts to be my next thought. Is this problem correlate to your fuel level? I'm also wondering if, under the correct fuel level and braking conditions if the pump is causing tank is getting a pressure differential enough to cause some pressure to escape or enter the gas cap. I also wonder if it could be a suspension bushing binding up. Squirting them with lithium grease can sometimes make that so away. I had a weird knock/light clunk in the rear of the Bonneville... and I checked the suspension, fuel, trunk hinges, everything... then, suddenly, the passenger side rear control arm broke! As it turned out, there was a crack in the arm, and it was knock was the crack flexing. When it finally let go, the ball joint and the tip of the control arm fell onto the bottom of the wheel, luckily my mother wasn't driving it fast.
  13. I think he means a ROPOS... Rusty Old Piece Of S... Or could be Really Old Piece Of S...
  14. Does it happen right after you stop or after you've been stopped a ten seconds or so?
  15. Some us still like ROPOS's.
  16. Its the poltergeist of the classic Chevys melted down to build your Cobalt. All new cars do it. Or did you forget and leave your hostage in the trunk? Seriously, does it sound like its coming from the trunk or under the trunk? Does it happen while your driving or sitting still? Do you have power antenna back there? Mine was pretty noisy when it died and my current one has been knocking at me, telling me its going to die soon. I doubt you have a CD changer back there. They can be noisy.
  17. Even though you didn't hit nasty potholes or curbs, you might have lost a wheel weight... especially if you have stick-on wheel weights. Ensuring your wheels are balanced is the first step. Did you drive through any sticky mud? Sometimes that can stick the rim and case an imbalance. Most suspension problems would have come on slowly... anything that happens fast in the suspension world is usually catastrophic failure... and you would know exactly the problem. Also, try revving the car to about 3 grand and feel for a similar vibration. Another though would be to jack up the front, and put the car on jackstands and run it at 40 mph... this will help isolate if it is a drivetrain problem or a front wheel problem or a rear wheel problem.
  18. I really don't like the Towncars with the severely curved down rear roof... seriously limits headroom. Sucks when you are in a limo, and have to scoot down so you feel like your almost lying down to avoid having the roof on your head.
  19. Tripletreds for the win!
  20. Is is possible to reputation down a whole thread?
  21. "South Central NJ"?!? That sounds like gangland lingo. Its just South Jersey. I'm very familiar with Vineland. The problem with snow in South Jersey is that we don't usually get any. But when we do, it is heavy and usually takes everyone unprepared.
  22. No burnout pics? Come on, man!
  23. Agreed. The only thing I would do was put one or two 50lb bags of kitty litter in the trunk. If I needed, I could use a scoop of litter in front of the tires if I got stuck. Never needed it... even though I used to have some pretty questionable tires. Ended up using it for the cat.
  24. If the starter's case is cracked, you probably have a shimming problem. Double check the clearance between the pinion and the flywheel teeth. Harmonic balancer is supposedly a bear on some H-bodies. There where threads on the Bonneville forums. Apparently, its hard to get to, and the standard puller will not work. You have to track down some particular length bolts with a particular thread. Anything else will break and cause disaster. Still, $200 cars are my favorites. My '86 Electra Estate Wagon was $200 back in 1995. Put a lot of miles on it. My '81 Bonne coupe also was $200... just needed a bumper and some interior parts... but it only lasted about two years before the problems crept in enough to park it until it could get the proper attention. Its getting hard to find $200 cars, running or not, with the price of steel lately. Most are worth double that or more at the shredder... unfortunately.
  25. New England also used to have a ton of AMC Eagles driving around... but I think the attrition has finally made them fairly uncommon, like the rest of the country.
