  1. DTS is up in the air at this point. Your Impala figure is significantly higher than the current target, and Camaro + Impala + Lucerne are well below 400k units. I would not be surprised if the Impala sold 250k considering it will get lots of attention from police/taxi companies, but apparently GM doesn't think it will, which again is why I think it must be moving significantly upmarket.
  2. Demand exceeding production capacity would be a good thing to have. If they can't meet it then I guess some buyers will have to wait.
  3. This is the "6 years" quote: Mooney never said it was six years, he said it was for the life of the car. If GM wants to implement the new Global Zeta throughout well, the globe, sooner than six years, then the deal won't last 6 years. Also, the "life cycle of the car" they are talking about is the VE Commodore. It started production what, 6 to 8 months ago? By the time the G8 arrives the Commodore will have been in production for 1 1/2 years. If it's going to be around for 6 years, then the G8 is only around for 4 1/2 years.
  4. This is an awesome article, and definitely forecasts a bright future. It's good to see the STS getting the SLS interior as well. Did you read this part?...
  5. It is truly awesome in person. I didn't like it much in the original press pics, but the minute I saw it in person I fell in love.
  6. No, but that doesn't mean that they aren't going to make it RWD.
  7. We do know what is happening to the Lucerne. What FWD platform to you propose building the Lucerne or DTS on? They cannot stay on G, as it will be ancient by the NG Lucerne and DTS. That leaves Sigma and Zeta. Zeta should be more than adequate for them.
  8. Now would be a great time to buy, GM just announced 0% for 60 months is back.
  9. And here are the pics to prove it:
  10. I doubt this generation of G8 will be NA-built. Lucerne is moving to Oshawa, which would leave DTS at Hamtramck all by itself, meaning GM would have two Zeta plants both well under capacity.
  11. STS is likely dead. The question mark is another vehicle.
  12. Unless they're planning on having the DTS sell a ton, that's not going to happen with current targets. Correct, and they're a lot closer to 300k than 400k for the 3 vehicles. I think GM is looking to drastically reduce Impala fleet sales and move the vehicle significantly upmarket. So, now the question remains: other than the possible DTS replacement, what vehicles are going to fill the well over 100k units of capacity at Oshawa? Perhaps the G8 (and for sure the NG G8), perhaps a GTO, though that sounds unlikely as of now, possibly some sort of wagon (of the Impala maybe?), maybe an El Camino (though it makes sense to fill AU capacity with that as it will be low volume) but there is no indication that any of these other vehicles are even going to be produced except for the G8. Oshawa will be a C-Flex plant or whatever they call it, so I guess the capacity could be filled by whatever GM desires.
  13. Here are my pics of the new Vues from Chicago. It looks much better in person, and not so tall and skinny as it appears in GM's pics.
  14. Let me point out that this was on the first day of the show, and there were very few people there. If it was knocked loose at that point in the show, it has probably fallen off by now... However, considering it was the first day, I really don't think it was from "abuse."
  15. Oh, this is such a great source of info! I'm sure Honda knows everything about a GM vehicle that could possibly be produced, and has already done studies for GM about how much the vehicle would cost to develop!
  16. *cough* http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=13811 *cough*
  17. When Oshawa gets converted, they're going to need something besides the Impala, Camaro, and Lucerne to fill the 500k capacity. The G8 would be a logical vehicle to be built there.
  18. All Vues equipped with the V6 after a certain point had the Honda engine. Originally, the regular Vue V6 was different, but at least the past couple of years the regular V6 and RL have had the same engine.
  19. It does, but unfortunately it's a concept. If there is a production version made, I'm expecting the leather on the door panels and dash to become hard, hollow plastic. Hopefully the door panels at least stay the same, but I'm not betting on it. If DCX interiors had nice looking door panels like this and decent plastic on the dash, I don't think there'd be much to complain about.
  20. Looks like the S2000 and 350Z mated and had a Dodge baby.
  21. That'd be cool, just let me know.
  22. We have voiced our distress about the problems to the host multiple times. There's nothing we can do other than continue to complain (which we will) until they resolve the problem. We will most likely not be renewing our contract with the host.
  23. The Edge would be acceptable if it was $20k-30k like the Thetas, but it is not. Does it feel relatively solid? Yes. However, there is not a single piece in the interior that feels like it should be in a vehicle that has a price tag of any more than $25k. The Equinox I sat in at least had soft-touch material on the door panels, something that cannot be said about the Edge. My dad thought the Edge was pretty bad too. The "metal" trim on the center stack is laughably cheap. Again, the only good thing about the Edge's interior are the seats.
  24. They better be up higher than 8k/month. That's less combined than what they want the Aura to sell. Saturn may take some time to catch on, but there were loads of people looking at them at the show. There were lines to get in everything except the Ion. The Outlook was absolutely crawling with people... they were folding down the seats, sitting in all the seats, looking it over several times, etc. All of them thought it was great.
