Well, in one case you have a warranty (LS6) and in the other (LS1) you don't.
-
As mentioned, the LS6 is basically a modified LS1. Different cam, heads, and the pistons are slightly different. I think the pushrods are the same though. The LS2 is totally different, it's the Gen IV and you can't convert an LS1 to an LS2 as you could convert an LS1 to an LS6.

How much does gas have to be before you scrap your V8 plans?
Northstar replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
I voted $4.50. I think I can deal with poor gas mileage if the result is a car that's tons of fun to drive. I don't think anyone who is looking to buy a RWD V8 performance sedan/coupe is too concerned about gas prices. -
Wow, that's pretty impressive. 250HP and 406lb-ft would be pretty quick. I really hope they don't keep this mainly in Europe, though. I think they should stick this in the T355s (trucks and H3), perhaps the Lambdas, and maybe even some Zetas. Diesel engines would definitely be an easy way to raise CAFE without spending a whole lot of money if they already have them developed. I think if marketed correctly, they would sell. I don't think I'd buy a diesel CTS or any non-compact car, but if this was put in the H3 I would definitely select it over the I5, and probably in the Lambdas too.

Boring Desktop? Spice it up with some Pontiac Power!

http://gm.wieck.com/forms/gm/previewpage?035751 If you use the emblem off of that I think it will be easy enough to rotate it to look good. -
I would consider a transmission, engine, or brake system failing important as well. That doesn't mean that you get to sue the automaker because your engine failed outside of warranty. The speedo is the same way. Unless there are a large number of speedometers, there is no reason to issue a recall, and no reason to be sued. Things break, people can't expect everything to work perfectly forever.

Getting rid of Laser Blue was a mistake. It was probably the most commonly-purchased color (for an Impala) when I worked at the dealership. Perhaps it didn't sell well elsewhere, though.

I think BV covered most of it... The armrest is hard, sorry that you can't accept that. The model I sat in had cloth and the I4, so for some reason I doubt that it had the DVD player. And, if you actually go and re-read my posts, I originally said that "If you get leather, than it's covered in fake leather, which is fine" then I saw the picture of an Avenger without leather and without padding on the armrest, so I thought that it must not be available at all. I made a simple mistake, I wasn't trying to "lie" about interior options I don't dislike Chrysler at all. I probably have more interest in Chrysler products than any other manufacturer besides GM. That doesn't mean I'm going to give them a free pass when they continuously have the worst interiors in the industry. If Chrysler's products had above-average interiors, they'd probably have quite a few class-leading vehicles.

I've driven a 6th gen through the parking lot at work and detailed it. Does that count? Edit: Just remembered I did the same with a 5th gen too.

So I decided to take the GTO out in the light snow, and...

Very true. I'm going to try to buy some studded snow tires (like 15 inchers) that have tons of rubber on them for cheap so they'll last for a long, long time. -
Man, that sucks. If I owned a Veyron I'd never take it out when I knew there was going to be a lot of traffic or when it wasn't bright and sunny out.

You can have fun without ice and snow in an empty parking lot up you push the TC button :AH-HA_wink: -
at the now rear seat DVD comment. I think the Fusion gets the 3.5 when the 50.. er I mean Taurus gets it? Perhaps not though. The problem with carving out a niche in the midsize segment is that, well, you need to appeal to everyone because it's so damn big. If Chrysler had a Chevy and Dodge was the Pontiac, then ok, the Avenger can go for a niche, but the Avenger is supposed to be the Accord/Camry fighter.
-
I agree with Empowah. There is little hope for the Avenger and Sebring. Fusion has better interior, exterior, and will be getting the 3.5 (of course styling subjective, but I don't see how anyone can find the Sebring more attractive, perhaps the Avenger though). Aura has better interior, exterior, and powertrain. Build quality on the Aura is as good as it was on the Avenger and Sebring I sat in. Camry has better powertrain, better interior, worse exterior IMO, but it's the Camry, so they have no shot at stealing its sales. Accord has better powertrain, better interior, exteriors about the same. Milan same as Fusion. Altima better everything. When I say better interior, I mean simply based on materials, as one can certainly argue that they like how the Sebring/Avenger interiors look.
-
Hopefully the new wheels are more attractive than the old ones.
-
No, not really. They said in the article they wanted to see how the 2007 TOTY stacked up to the newest truck on the block. C&D and MT both said the exterior of the Silverado looked much crisper and cleaner than the Tundra, and that the interior was better as well. MT (I think) also said the paint on the Silverado was better.
-
I'm not sure the LaCrosse even matters, the new one comes in early 2009, so this one may be a 1 MY-run only. I'm glad to see they're keeping the Lucerne updated.
-
There are very few wheels with the correct offset for the GTO, so that can throw things off quite a bit. It also depends on how wide you want to go in the back. Go to LS1GTO.com if you want more info... there are tons of threads there about it.

You saying again? I don't mind if it's not padded, as long as the material is not in a shape and of such hardness that it makes it sharp. When I sat in the Avenger, as soon as I touched the armrest without knowing I instantly jerked my arm back up... as if I had touched something hot... it was like a reflex. It seriously felt like something was trying to cut me. Did it? No, but that's what it felt like. Maybe you should quit making lame excuses such as "oh, it can have a rough and sharp armrest because it has a DVD player!!!11" and "But my MC didn't have padding so this is perfectly fine without padding!" and face that fact that it sucks and quit making yourself look like an idiot for defending Chrysler at all costs, even when it is quite obvious something is made horribly.
-
See, the Avenger has some cool features, but it'd be a better car if they took whatever it cost to make those features available and just made the rest of the car better. A below-average interior is not made above-average by some cool lighting or a fridge in the dash. I'd rather have a competitive interior and not have those features that I'll use very rarely.
-
Very true. At least it's not whatever the ridiculous amount of Toyota SUVs and trucks that were affected. It's good they caught it relatively early on.
-
Padding is definitely better, but I don't usually mind if it's not. That was not the case in the Avenger. The Avenger actually looks pretty good in black (just saw a pic of it on dodge.com in black) because it hides the huge bumper.
-
The ABS issue is not that big of an issue, but the Ram sounds pretty bad. The vibrations are so bad that the lug nuts can be unscrewed by it and the wheel falls off (?)
-
The only explanation I have is that the cover is different when you get the DVD player (see the extra cut-out?). I guess the padded material goes over that area that's cut out, but I don't see why they couldn't design a different cover for the armrest with the DVD player. Or they could have just made the material better to begin with and not had the stupid part that sticks out and it wouldn't need padding.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking, the C&G curse decided to come along for the ride... But it didn't. To my surprise, even though I drove cautiously, the traction control only came on twice in about 30 mins. One time was because I was in the parking lot and felt like fishtailing slightly. Now, granted, there was next to nothing on the main roads, and maybe 1/4 of an inch on non-main roads, but I thought it would be much worse than it was to drive it in the snow. I still wouldn't want to try to drive it in more than two inches or so, but I'd be pretty confident driving it in an inch or an inch in a half, I think. Anyone else driven a hi-power RWD car in the snow and not had a hard time at all? I thought the traction control would frequently come on, but I guess it's all about driving cautiously in poor weather.
