Wow, that wagon would be perfect Magnum competition.

You act like you know everything, yet you know nothing at all. The dealers were given a vote for either a Zeta-based vehicle or the Lucerne, and they picked the Lucerne. Why would GM try to spin it so that it seems like the dealer's are the reason we don't have one? Why wouldn't they say that the car is doing so well elsewhere that they don't have production capacity if that is the case? The next LaCrosse is already going to be on the LWB EP II. If you actually read any of the posts of people around here with knowledge, you'd already know that the Lucerne is being moved to Zeta after it runs it's course (2011-12 MY).

My dealer has one in this color too. It looks equally as good as the black one sitting next to it, which is saying something.
-
Buick really only needs the Enclave, a mini-Enclave (5-pass) on TE about the size of the Edge/Equinox, the EPII LaCrosse, and then a Zeta-based Lucerne. I don't think Buick needs anything smaller than the LaCrosse on the car side or anything below a mini-Enclave. The only other vehicle they could use is something like a Velite. Let Saturn handle the smaller premium cars, having both would create quite a bit of overlap I think, and Saturn is known for selling compacts, anyways. The Aura and LaCrosse would be the only vehicles that overlap at all.

That doesn't make any sense. First, if they're truly going to become global, why are they not getting a UTE? Second, if the UTE is coming to North America, why would they design it as a Pontiac/GMC if they want Chevy to be global (and therefore have a UTE anyways)? Finally, Lutz's excuse of "Chevy has to much to focus on right now" makes no sense either. Why can't GM take however many people it takes to turn the UTE into another brand and have them make it a Chevy? It seems to me that unless it's just going to have a G8 fascia that it makes no difference what brand they're changing it to, and that they might as well make it a Chevy if they want to sell it everywhere as a Chevy.

It reminds me of one of those minicar concepts -- the green one. I forget what it was called, though. Looks decent for the segment, though still cartoonish. Interior looks good.
-
That's a dumb response. First, the vehicle would just need a new front fascia... it's already complete. Second, why does it matter what brand it is being developed for? If GM is currently developing 50 vehicles, it doesn't matter if 22 are Chevys or 23 are Chevys, does it?

Saturn Sky Flying High, Pontiac Solstice Flagging?
Northstar replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
The Sky is also more expensive base, and probably has more options most of the time. My dealer wanted $26k for a used 2.4L Solstice and had a new GXP for $27k sitting right next to it. Guess which one was gone soon after? -
Saturn Sky Flying High, Pontiac Solstice Flagging?
Northstar replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
Could you please stop posting so much damn bull$h!? You must have a crystal f@#king ball. How the hell do you know what's going to happen in 20 years time? The Solstice commanded a high price, and Skys sell for sticker. GM is making plenty of profit off of them. You say the Chevy could actually be collectible but that the Solstice will end up like the Fiero, how the hell do you know? Also, the Chevy Stingray is going to command a higher price? How? You want the 2.4L version to start at $30k or something and the SS to be $40k? Please inform me who is going to pay $40k for a Chevy roadster when the Vette is not that much more? Please, go have your head examined. -
Who's actually going to buy the 4-cyl though? This thing has to weigh 4000+lbs based on the apparent size in pictures. The 4cyl is available for 3 reasons: Advertising lower fuel economy, advertising lower price, and selling to fleets.

The magazines have already picked the Aura over the Camry. There's no reason to assume the Malibu won't be better than the Aura. Therefore, how can the Camry be a step ahead of the Malibu?
-
But it's not a truck... its a car with a bed.
-
I think I'd rather see it as a Pontiac if it's not going to be a Chevy. It doesn't really fit GMC's image, to me. It doesn't fit Pontiac's image that well either, but since it's essentially a sports sedan with a huge trunk instead of a back seat, it might as well be a Pontiac if it can't be a Chevy. It should be a Chevy, however.

Wow, this is a much more novel idea than some of the members here have come up with lately. Rather than slowly drive the company into the ground, at least they'd have money left over to start Admiral Motors!
-
I just skimmed through the text. Seems like a good features list, but only 235HP?
-
The exterior looks like a Mitsu to me. The interior, while better than current Chrysler products, still is poor. The Lambdas and Flex are much better efforts. When is Dodge going to learn how to design a good interior? Everything is a square.
-
You just totally nullified your own argument. It takes next to nothing to produce the GMCs and they appeal to a totally different clientele. Lutz said that the Denali owners have a higher income than Escalade owners. You're not going to see many people with that kind of money wanting to drive around in a "measly" Chevy. GMC and Chevy trucks are both extremely profitable, and killing one of them could kill GM. WTF is up with all these "kill these brands GM!" threads, anyways? None of the people calling for the brands to be killed have many good reasons for the brands to be killed, and this thread is a complete joke.

Saturn Sky Flying High, Pontiac Solstice Flagging?
Northstar replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
How are Solstice sales flagging when it outsells the Sky every month? Sure, it is probably only because it is available at more locations, but sales are still good and on pace with the Miata. -
Everyone is going to want more room in the future, whether real or perceived, but there are also many that don't want a truck-like ride. So yes, crossovers are going to continue to boom. I see no end in sight for at least 5-7 years.
-
Except since apparently the vehicles will sell so much better under the Opel badge you'll actually end up spending more on badges
-
"Rethink American" is not "oh we know American cars suck and so you should try ours," it's conveying the more upscale mainstream American vehicle that has influence from mport vehicles. That's why they aren't comparing Saturns to Fords and Dodges but rather to Camcords.
-
GM is not marketing them as a "new American" car. The ads are saying "Rethink American." That's not the same as "the new American." GM is changing. That's what Saturn is doing right now. You're giving up after ~1 year of trying? Disappointed that Saturn isn't outselling Honda already? Give it some time. Starting over with Opel doesn't do much good because you have to "remake" the brand and market your new direction again. The money spent to remarket Saturn would be lost and you'd have to start over. You're always complaining about marketing dollars and how GM wastes so much marketing money, but now you're calling for a huge campaign to first launch Opel-Saturn and then launch Opel. Seems like a big endeavor for a logo that's just so much cooler.
-
Renaming them Opels really wouldn't do much. It's the product that counts, not the name of the brand (unless it says Honda, Toyota, or Lexus). The SKY confirms that this is the case. You're just much too close-minded and too impatient to think logically. Know one knows about Opels here. If you're going to market them as "VW vs. Opel" then you're going to have to inform the general public that Opel is like VW in Germany, which would be a waste of time and money. Also, I don't see what a cool logo is going to do.
-
I think it's really that overrated. There's absolutely nothing about it that's exciting. Perhaps acceleration on the V6 model is good for a midsizer, but other than that, it doesn't do anything that well.

It looks stunning in black. I like the photos I saw of the black interior best, too.
