  1. Actually the about-to-be-released 'Bu will have a life of about 2 months in 2007, and then 2008-2010. 3 year 2 months, by my count. And yes, Gamma is going to play a HUGE role. Tons of global volume.
  2. Whoops, that was a typo. Should have said 08 instead of 09.
  3. Impala is RWD on Zeta. Malibu is FWD on EPII. My only explanation for having a large EPII sedan at Fairfax in 2010 is that either the NG Malibu got moved from early 2011 (as planned) to late 2010, or tooling starts in 2010 so they consider that to be when the plant starts on the NG Malibu. There is no evidence of anything else. Cobalt stays on Delta (Delta II) and probably is at Ramos (which would explain why it's not on the UAW sheet). Aveo is on Gamma. Yes, the Cobalt MCE was dropped since it would have only been out for 1 1/2 or 2 model years. AH-HA, I see you lurking, want to confirm? :AH-HA_wink:
  4. The new Malibu is/was slated to being production on LWB EPII in January of 2011. Perhaps it is now a Dec 2010 start.
  5. Well, I suppose no one has really confirmed it until now. Yes, it will be called Impala. I guess we don't have any confirmation that the EPII sedan is the Malibu (EDIT: Just found some confirmation on that), but regardless it replaces the Malibu. It won't be that much bigger, probably Camry sized. More growth should be expected in width than length. I am not too convinced the Cobalt is on Gamma. I think that's a false rumor. I am 100% sure there is a global Chevy Delta, which would imply that the US is getting it. I think that is the Cobalt. EDIT: I am now 100% sure the Cobalt is on Delta. Starts production mid 09. The Aveo is on Gamma, though.
  6. As I said, I would expect that the 3.5 is simply for the fleet cars, and I guess it could also be for current Impala buyers who just want a big, comfy car and don't care about refinement.
  7. June 08 - SORP -285 Series rear tires (staggered wheels). -19 inch wheels
  8. Camaro coupe starts production in February 2009. The convertible starts production late 2009. Engines: It is unclear whether both Chevy Zeta's will share the same engine lineup, but three engines will be offered in all. The 3.5L V6 (perhaps as a fleet engine for the Impala?), 3.6L V6, and 6.2L V8. At this time, there is nothing else planned (for the first model year at least). 18 inch wheels appear to be standard, while 19s and 20s (20s being available in 2 different widths) will be optional. Most likely, the 20s will be standard on the 6.2L model, so that a staggered setup can be run. Putting the power to the ground will be 275 series tires. And I think that's enough from the little birdy for this post :AH-HA_wink:
  9. And this is what you get when you let Toyota influence the styling of a vehicle...
  10. They are both quite square, though the design within the squares are different. The upcoming Pilot most definitely has a very similar grille to the Accord. I'm not saying this is bad, because it shows family resemblance in the same way that the Malibu grill looking like a Tahoe's shows family resemblance. I just don't think that having a similar grill makes it look like it's off of an SUV. If the Malibu came out first would that mean the Tahoe's grille was car-like? Anyways, that really doesn't matter... I do think the Malibu will do well, if for no other reason than because the Accord isn't going to appeal to everyone, the Camry really isn't too good, and there isn't a whole lot out there that offers the style of the Malibu. It will certainly steal some potential Fusion buyers. I don't see GM having any problem selling 200k/year (their target). That's less than half of what the Camry sells. This model should vastly improve the Malibu's image in the market, the EPII will be the one that can actually put it at the top of the class.
  11. They are both quite square, though the design within the squares are different. The upcoming Pilot most definitely has a very similar grille to the Accord. I'm not saying this is bad, because it shows family resemblance in the same way that the Malibu grill looking like a Tahoe's shows family resemblance.
  12. Please do explain why the head lights look like they belong on a smaller vehicle? The grille is like the Outlook's, though smaller. Similar to how the Accord's grille looks like a smaller Ridgeline grille.
  13. Oh, there's is some definition to the sides :AH-HA_wink: It has a bump in the rear quarter similar to the current LaX.
  14. G8 production starts in 1 week!
  15. It looks kind of chunky, but I think that's due to the camo.
  16. Ok, back to the topic or this thread is closing.
  17. Hey looky here in this thread almost a year ago: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...st&p=215286 :AH-HA_wink: And oh by the way, the targa top is actually a soft top, at least that will be an option. Not sure if there will be a hardtop targa too, but there will definitely be a soft top.
  18. What is not production-like about the Torana? There's nothing about it that you can say "that would never make it to production." And if you want to compare concepts, well: You could mistake a Charger for an Avenger pretty easily, I think, depending on the viewing angle.
  19. Shall we compare a mini-G8 and a mini-Charger? The Torana looks much better than the overly styled Avenger. Similarly, the G8 is much cleaner and the Charger is more highly styled. Certainly the Charger is better looking than the Avenger, but it's a similar comparison.
  20. Originally it was planned to be close to 50/50 split at Spring Hill and LDT, but the volume was much lower. Perhaps they have scrapped plans to build it at LDT.
  21. The G8 blending into the 5er crowd is definitely a good thing, because that means it's blending into a crowd of vehicles that cost twice as much... and those vehicles do not blend in with the rest of the vehicles on the road. The Charger does not blend in to that crowd, nor does it try to. The Charger is the anti-Camcord in the sense that it is very aggressive... the G8 is the anti-Camcord in the sense that it's very sleek and looks like it costs much more than it does.
  22. I see what Reg is saying about the styling. The Charger is more aggressive, yet more boy-racerish like old Pontiacs. The G8 is much sleeker and more upscale looking, like a BMW for the most part. Different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't say the Charger is "redneck," but I would certainly say the G8 would fit in better when placed along side a 5er, A6, E-Class, etc. The Charger would look more at home with the "tuner" crowd than the G8, on the other side of things.
  23. I'm pretty sure the Cobalt is staying on Delta. It's a global product...
  24. Cosign, except I'm not sure the G8 would look that much better than the 5er except that it has those amazing wheels. I do perfer the design of the GTO interior to the G8, however, I think.
  25. I am not sure why their sales were not higher. They did a pace of 150k/year and the plant has 250k/year capacity. However, some of that extra capacity is being saved for the Chevy Lambda, so I'm not entirely sure what the issue is.
