  1. The Accord seems better in every way to me... though I probably would never buy either of them. Not to say they aren't good cars, just not my style.
  2. Passing power in the winter isn't going to be that necessary very often, at least I assume the roads are usually not too great in Michigan in the winter. Not saying the Eclipse would be hard to drive in the winter, but it's not like you're going to be flooring it in the snow, either. What's wrong with the Cobalt in the winter?
  3. I don't think we need two threads on the same subject, so I'm closing this one: ( http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=22298 already has 2 pages)
  4. Glad to hear to are going to be ok. Too bad about the Av, but better it than you.
  5. Aveo, Cobalt, Astra, HHR, Zafira (when it comes), should all get this engine.
  6. The G8 is not built here, which means it doesn't contribute to CAFE, no?
  7. Well, since that car is produced in the same plant as the G8, that means potentially more G8s in the US
  8. And just recently announced... BMW plans to stop selling RWD cars in Europe too because of new CO2 rules. ------------------------------------------------------- And now more breaking news: BMW has just announced they have changed their plans and will now continue to sell RWD cars in Europe. In their statement, BMW said, "Despite other companies, such as GME, cutting all RWD offerings, we will continue to offer RWD vehicles to our customers, because we don't suck." What importance is this to us? GME sucks.
  9. I wonder how much the 6-speed auto would have helped the Malibu. Offering a class-exclusive (I believe) feature such as a 6-speed on a 4cyl may have gotten some high praise.
  10. I'm guessing it took so long because it wasn't very high up on GM's priority list.
  11. I wish it was a two-door like the concept, or at least that there was a two-door version.
  12. It seems Fly is very busy with work and other issues. He hasn't been around much for a while. If we get any updates we'll let you know.
  13. The thing is that the loss in power won't gain that much fuel economy. How about dropping weight and keeping the same power? The C5 got 17/25 with the A4 and 18/28 with the M6, had 350HP and weighed 3250lbs. The C6 debuted with 400HP, got 18/26 with the auto and 18/28 with the manual, and weighed 3200lbs. The 2008 model gets 15/25 and 16/26, but that's under the new regulations. The Z06 gets 15/24 with 505HP. I think it's quite clear that weight has more to do with MPGs than power, when talking about a gasoline-only powered vehicle.
  14. There is no timing on the EPII G6. It's been dead for a while. Look for an Alpha G6, if there is one.
  15. Any idea what the Routan is? Their small crossover?
  16. Funny and crappy as it may be, considering the price its not bad at all when you compare it to certain GM cars costing 10 times more.
  17. One by one, GM will watch it's customers continue to leave and go elsewhere, to companies who build cars that are exciting. Then we can write a book here at C&G aout ow GM died.
  18. Now if only the front overhang was reduced by as much as the rear overhang was, it my look pretty good. I guess that's one way to get around the W-Body's 10 foot overhangs.
  19. Northstar

    HHHHHR SS

My dealership had one last night. Looked pretty cool.
  20. GM will just re-do the Northstar again, I'm guessing. If they put DI on the current one and do nothing else, you're looking at 360-370HP. Other improvements should get it up to the 380+HP mark, I think. From what I heard, the UV8 had issues, anyways (not only CAFE). Think NVH.
  21. I'm guessing no sooner than New York. Probably LA in November.
  22. The GP was on pace to sell under 20k retail units for the 2007 MY halfway through. 77.6% were to fleets. What a pile. The G8 will have no problem selling 40k to retail. That's DOUBLE what the GP did. I laugh at all who say the G8 was a mistake and they should have kept the GP.
  23. GME: General Motors' Extinguisher
  24. I think it's quite obvious that some people who make the decisions obviously thought that way, otherwise why would seemingly 75% of them get canceled? Surely there were some people who wanted them canceled no matter what, and their cause was helped by rising gas prices, but I think it's quite obvious that there were people who wanted them canceled from the start regardless. See the original delay, they weren't originally delayed because of CAFE.
  25. I priced one on Edmunds. A fully loaded GT is under $33k. That's a damn good price. GM could sell 100k if they could produce that many. It's a shame some people within the company are so close-minded and don't care for the health of the company as a whole, but rather only the part of the company for which they work.
