  3. Mauer went somewhere else, maybe to Ford Europe? I don't remember exactly. I really don't like those headlights; with the silver outlining they look like they're duct taped on.

  5. Welcome to voting for Choppin' Competition 2! I would like to ask everyone who reads this thread to vote. The choppers would appreciate it if more people vote, as they have put a lot of time and effort into the competition. It only takes an extra 15 seconds to vote, so please do it and give the choppers some credit! If you entered the competition, you MUST vote. Artists should also not vote for themselves. Artists who do not vote or vote for themsleves will be assessed a 4 point penalty. Here is how voting will work: Each person will get two votes. Their first place vote will count as two points, and their second place vote will count as one point. An example of how to vote is below. Let's say you think entry number 1 is the best and entry number 2 is the second best, you would post this: 1 2 Voting will end when I get home from school on Wedensday.   12. Yeah, but if you are only willing to pay X amount of dollars then it doesn't really matter that much. If you don't want to spend more than a certain amount, IMO you should just enter that at the end because then the other bidder(s) won't be able to outbid you when you're already at the maximum you want to pay.
  13. No, the current bid isn't necessarily the highest bid. If someone bids $500 and the next person bids $1000, it will display like $550 or something but the person that bid $1k still has that bid, so until someone bids over $1k the person that bid $1k is still the leader. So, if it says the current bid is at $500 and you bid $750, then the person that bid $1k will still be the leader at $750.
  14. I think that considering the Impala just started arriving to dealerships this month for the most part that 14.5k sales is pretty damn good. The 500 already had a full stock and had EPP. The 05 Impalas had huge rebates too. 14.5k in less than a month with VERY limited supply is pretty damn good if you ask me. Also, considering that GM usually rolls out the higher-end models first, that means that a lot of them were probbaly LTZs and SSs, not the volume LS and LT models. My dealer still hasn't gotten any but a $31k SS.
  15. I'm not sure if I will be able to go this year because it's going to be right in the thick of basketball season (which is why I couldn't go last year). I guess I'll have to see what the schedule looks like though, it's possible I could still go up.
  16. I'd really rather not give an extension on it as I really want to keep the Comps on a tight schedule. How much time did you need, Nick? Harley- I tried to put a Solstice front end on it but it didn't look very good, IMO.

  18. I've bought a few things off eBay and my parents have bought stuff too. I got my golf clubs off eBay a couple years ago. If you're bidding on an item, I would reccomend not bidding until there is less than 1 minute to go in the auction; that way you don't inflate the price of the item by bidding when there is still 5 days left to go or however much time there is left. Your "opponets" or people who you are bidding against won't know you're even bidding or interested if you wait until the last moment. Let's say you're willing to pay up to $1500 on rims for your car; I would suggest putting in $1500.02 or $1500.03 because often times people bid $1500.01 so that if someone does bid $1500, they still are winning the auction. Also, I would definetly bid the maximum amount you want to spend; if you want to spend $1500 and the auction is only up to $700, that doesn't mean $700 is the top bid; the person could have bid $1500 and it just happens that the next highest bid was $700.   19. Welcome to Choppin' Competition 3! Your task is to chop the photo provided below in any way you want. Change the wheels, background, etc. Please resize your chop to 768 pixles wide. Contestants that do so will recieve a bonus point as it takes me a long time to resize all of the entries that are not the specified size for the voting thread. The deadline for entries is Saturday, Septemeber 10that midnight EST. This contest is a little different from the previous two in a couple of ways: First, there are two pics available to be chopped. You can pick one or both of the entries. If you do pick to chop both of them, you will have two entries in the competition. If you chop both, they do not have to be related but can be. Josh has decided to give a prize to the winner of the competition if 15 entries are received. By 15 entries, he means 15 legitimate entries. No chops that look like they took about 3 minutes to do will be considered legitimate. If 15 entries are received, the winner will receive their choice of a T-shirt or a 1 year subscription to the auto magazine of their choice.   20. Well, this is what I came up with. It was hard to make it look like a Caddy with all the curves on the Nomad, but I think it turned out ok actually. I got rid of the curvy-ness of the roof and basically added the Caddy front and wheels. This is just another reminder that the Choppin' Comp will be closed in 24 1/2 hours.
  21. I'm guessing the LS2 will get DOD or some other fuel-saving technology sometime, but I haven't heard for sure whether it will get it.
  22. I thought I should give everyone a reminder that the deadline for entries is 12:01 AM EST on Sunday, meaning you basically have until midnight EST Saturday to get you entries in.
  23. I got my new C&D today, and they had a little write up on the TB SS. 0-60 in 5.4s 1/4 mile in 13.9s .80g on the skidpad To put that into perspective, the 04 GTO did 0-60 in 5.3s with a 6-speed manual (TB SS has a 4-speed auto).

Reuters / September 02, 2005 TORONTO -- General Motors of Canada reported a drop in August sales on Thursday as its employee pricing discount program lost momentum with customers, while the remaining Big Three automakers upped their sales. All three automakers offered customers vehicles at the same discounted price their employees pay to increase sales and make space on showroom floors for the 2006 models. But the program has not had the same effect at GM Canada as it did at DaimlerChrysler Canada and Ford Motor Co. of Canada. GM Canada said its August sales fell 3.6 percent to 39,306 vehicles from the 40,731 it sold in the same month last year -- which did not offer employee pricing to customers. The automaker said it will extend its employee discount program until the end of September in hopes of selling its remaining 2005 models. DaimlerChrysler Canada, the first Canadian manufacturer to introduce employee pricing to customers, said it moved 17,904 cars and trucks off its lots, up 23 percent from the 14,523 it sold in August 2004. It said the employee pricing program proved successful in moving out old models and it will now focus on bringing 2006 models to market. Ford Motor Co. of Canada said demand for fuel efficient vehicles as gasoline prices rose helped it move 16,547 vehicles out of its showroom, up 2.6 percent from the same month last year. But independent industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers noted that August was the first month that Ford Canada was outsold not only by GM Canada, but also by DaimlerChrysler Canada, and Honda Canada Inc. Honda Canada Inc. said August sales from its Honda and Acura divisions combined for 17,681 vehicles, a 8.3 percent increase from last August. Toyota Motor Corp. said August sales jumped 9.6 percent to 16,114 vehicles compared to the same month last year on strong demand for its Echo, Prius and Canadian-made Matrix vehicles. The Japanese automaker offered deals in August to help clear out its 2005 models.
  25. Rebates and discounts on the Solstice? No way. They have 10k of them sold already, so why would they put a single penny on the hood?
