  1. From Autoweek: New Volkswagen honcho Wolfgang Bernhard is big on dreams: working on them, driving them, making them come true, and VW is clearly dreaming big with its newest drop-top, which went from concept (in the form of the Concept C) to production reality in just 18 months. The four-place cabrio/coupe features a nifty, retractable five-section hardtop roof, five engine choices ranging from 115 to 250 hp and transmission options including the DSG direct-shift gearbox. The Eos will launch next spring in Europe and should hit the States sometime later in '06.
  2. Yuck. That's nasty. What's the point of streching the Mini if it still has about 2 inches of rear legroom?
  3. Wow, that's pretty damn ugly. The good thing about Smarts is that they're actually pretty safe, so even though it looks like you'll get killed in a wreck, you probably won't.
  4. I'm not seeing the Lexus knockoff except that the taillights are silver on both of them. BTW, the RX looks like it has about 2 feet of ground clearence in that pic because the Antara is so low.
  5. It's better than the Z3 Coupe, but still not great. I think I'd just get a removeable hardtop on a Z4 convert if I wanted a Z4.
  6. I'm guessing that Zeta is not back, just the cars that were on it. If Zeta was too expensive 6 months ago, how is it that now it's not too expensive? It's not like GM is out of trouble yet. I'm thinking it's a cheapened Zeta or Sigma Lite, not Zeta.
  7. It could be some sort of mule. If they're testing it right now, then we should see it in two years or less. The first Lambda was just spied a few months ago, and it comes out in fall 06.
  8. Yuck, that's just plane wrong. Leave this type of thing to Dodge. Does anyone else think it looks like it's photoshopped into those pics? There's no way it climbed up there in the second one with that ground clearance.
  9. Looks good. The Compass is a different story though.
  10. It's sweet, I love it! Autonews says it is in fact the next VUE. When I first saw it was going to be a VUE I thought maybe they got mixed up with the sub-Theta, but apparantly not. Is that interior the prodcution version? If so, I think it looks really cool. Autonews quote: The Antara concept “will be identical to the future Saturn Vue,” GM Vice Chairman Robert Lutz said. “They can build it in a U.S. plant, and it will be identical.”
  11. No, it debuted in China (?) as the (Chevy) Aveo earlier, Gentra must be the name of the Daewoo version of the Aveo currently being made?
  12. Yeah, I realize semis do use a bunch of gears, but isn't that mostly for accelerating up hills and stuff since they have so much weight to move? It'd be rediculous to have a 10-speed manual in a vehicle, you'd be shifting constantly. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be pretty expensive? I thought more gears equaled more parts which means more cost. There was a blurb in a Solstice review about why it had a 5-speed instead of a 6-speed and one of the reasons was cost.
  13. I don't think there's much point of having more than a 6- or 7-speed transmission. Can you imagine how much you'd have to shift with a 10-speed manual? That'd be rediculous.
  14. They should do this all the time. Whenever Toyota, Honda, or Nissan plan some big party and shut down some public place, GM should step in and take tourists elsewhere.
  15. Yep, it's the next Aveo. Does anyone know when we're actually going to see it here? Autonews says it comes in the 2008 MY but that could be January 2007 or fall 2007.
  16. I found him after probably 10 or 15 seconds, but if I knew I was just looking for his head rather than the whole body of a person, then I might have found him earlier.
  17. Okay, I'll extend it a week then. It will now end on September 25th.
  18. We had a HHR comp on the old boards, so I'm not sure if I want to have another one on the new boards, but that's a possibilty.
  19. Does anyone need more time? I can extend the deadline if anyone does.
  20. Welcome to Choppin' Competition 4! Your task is to chop the photo provided below in any way you want. Change the wheels, background, etc. Please resize your chop to 768 pixles wide. Contestants that do so will recieve a bonus point as it takes me a long time to resize all of the entries that are not the specified size for the voting thread. The deadline for entries is Saturday, Septemeber 17th at 11:59PM EST. I thought that having two pics available to chop had a postitive effect in the last competition, so I'm doing it again. You can pick one or both of the entries to chop. If you do pick to chop both of them, you will have two entries in the competition. If you chop both, they do not have to be related but can be. Here are the pictures to chop (click thumbnails for larger images):
  21. The competition is now over. Voting will begin shortly and a new competition will begin.
  22. It should be noted that there are only about 15 minutes left until the competition closes. If there are still people out there that need a little extra time I can close the competition 30 minutes or so late.
  23. What did you do to it other than add the alien and tint the windows? I'm not sure if this can be considered legitimate.
