  1. It looks very good. I think that should do well.
  2. Nice find Caddycruiser. It looks pretty good.
  3. They only showed them to the media. The Yukon stuff is released Oct 5th, and the Escalade stuff is released sometime in Nov. according to GMTV.
  4. If I remember correctly, there was a rumor that the column shifter was only on lesser models, but this appears to be a pretty uplevel Tahoe. Maybe they meant the Escalade and Yukon/Denalis would have the floor shifter?
  5. I'm not sure that the Duramax with the Tahoe would have sold that well. It's a pretty expensive option, and lots of people are opposed to diesels for whatever reason. I agree a 6-speed should be standard, and I don't understand why they can't have it ready, unless they're waiting to convert ALL 4-speed production to 6-speeds when the Silverado and Sierra come. Maybe they can't produce enough of both so they're waiting to just produce 6-speeds? I dunno, just a guess.
  6. By Jason Stein Automotive News / September 20, 2005 DETROIT -- General Motors' next generation of SUVs will debut with significant gains in fuel efficiency, safety, sophistication and design, the automaker promises. But GM doesn't think that will mean a huge spike in sales. GM, which unveiled its 2007 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe as well as the GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade to journalists on Tuesday, is projecting sales to maintain current levels. "It is realistic to assume the segment won't grow," said Robert Lutz, GM's vice chairman of global development. GM says it owns 60 to 62 percent of a 750,000-unit segment and leads in certain sales categories, including the large-luxury market. Lutz said even with gasoline prices at record levels, GM's market share and the segment volume should hold steady, but not significantly improve the way the segment did at the beginning of the decade. "People are still going to buy full-sized sport utilities at $3 a gallon. But even at $3 a gallon, it's 750,000 people a year. It's not going to go to a million," Lutz said. "Two years ago we would have told you the segment is going to go to a million vehicles. It's not going to do that. It's leveled off. "We think 750,000 (units) is the best prediction based on today's fuel prices. I think we may maintain our volume at other people's expense, even if the segment shrinks a little bit." 7. The Suburban's third row is the same as the Tahoe's I thought? I thought the Suburban was basically the same but with a bunch of room behind the third row.
  8. Did we see this from some Pontiac brochure and weren't sure what it was? Or maybe it was a GM EPP commercial? Anyways, I remember that front end from somewhere, and I don't really like it here. I think I perfer the normal one better.
  9. I saw that too Ted, and was about to post it. It looks similar to the current one (obviously), but I'm guess its a Tahoe with that after the second door.
  10. The Tahoe doesn't get the 6L or 6.2L. I'm going to close this thread because I don't think we need 2 different threads on the Tahoe.
  11. Just some random notes as I read the press release: -Sounds like they'll be extremely safe -Will all of them get the rear camera? -Power rear liftgate! -Power running boards -Optional 20s on the Tahoe and Yukon, 22s on the Escalade! -It sounds like the Yukon and Tahoe share interiors, with the Escalade's being unique. -"Second-row seat legroom and knee room, and third-row seat headroom are increased over the previous models. " -Escalade has white LED instrument panel lighting -6.0L and 6.2L have VVT -Apparantly the Tahoe is only available with the 4.8 and 5.3? -20.5MPG for 2WD 5.3L and 20.1MPG for 4WD is awesome!
  12. I really like the exterior, even the rear end. When I first saw the unauthorized pics, I didn't like the rear end much, but it looks fine here. The interior looks very good. The fit and finish is superb, and the materials don't look bad, I just hope they're better than the Impala's, as they look somewhat similar. The climate control looks pretty cool; I want to see what the non-NAV radio looks like. The attention to detail is very good: all the chrome rings around basically everthing, the aluminum (at least it would appear to be aluminum, could be fake) around the vents, and the little chrome inserts between all the buttons. My only real complaint on the interior is the column shifter. Now time to actually read the press release as I just got home from school.
  13. It will probably be on media.gm.com first unless someone else breaks the embargo.
  14. I wish the embargo was tonight, as I'll be in school tomorrow when the pics are released :(
  15. Automotive News / September 19, 2005 Well, that didn't take long. With demand far outstripping supply, the Pontiac Solstice, which went on sale in early August, typically fetches about $5,000 over sticker price on eBay, AutoTrader.com and at dealerships. That makes the new roadster the hottest Pontiac in years. One eBay bidder dropped $32,900 for one of the low-slung roadsters, which start at $19,995 and rise to $24,700 fully loaded. Some of the first 1,000 cars, which were sold to buyers through a promotion on the hit TV show "The Apprentice," are bringing an even bigger premium. One eBayer paid $10,000 for the right to buy car number 664. GM says it will build about 7,000 Solstices this year. Pontiac dealers have ordered 13,000 Solstices; many won't get more than one until next year.
  16. By Jason Stein Automotive News / September 19, 2005 FRANKFURT -- General Motors' next-generation mid-sized vehicle architecture will be able to accommodate engines from around the world, a high-ranking GM executive says. That means fuel-efficient diesels could come to North America from Europe by the end of the decade on the Epsilon 2 architecture, Hans Demant, managing director of Adam Opel AG, told Automotive News at the Frankfurt auto show last week. "The next-generation of Epsilon in North America will have full access to all of the European powertrains," Demant said. "When you look into the (Chevrolet) Malibu today or the Pontiac G6, they have certain limitations with regard to the size of the powertrain. With Epsilon 2, we can put our powertrains into those vehicles." That will allow GM to react more quickly to changing market demands, Demant said. The goal is that vehicles on Epsilon 2 built around the world will share dimensions, components and manufacturing processes. The sharing of engines falls under GM Vice Chairman Robert Lutz's definition of interbuildability, a term that includes manufacturing and engineering, Demant says. "It is the total spectrum of options and features available for use anywhere," Demant says. "If someone says they want a diesel in North America … we have a high-efficient diesel engine, and we can ship it. The (architectures) will all share the same module. We'll just be able to stick it in." Demant also said GM has increased the range of dimensions on Epsilon 2. The front overhang has increased by 3 or 4 inches and so has the width and road height of the vehicle. Full article: http://www.autonews.com/article.cms?articleId=54521
  17. Something about the Viper as a coupe just doesn't look right. The Corvette's roofline is much more flowing and doesn't look goofy like the Viper's. The Viper seems to have a bit more wheel well gap than the Z06 too.
  18. I was just confused because they said the GTO wasn't there, but the GTO is clearly there.
  19. If it's anything, I'd say the commercial pic looks like a sub-Theta of some sort, but it's hard telling.
  20. The Malibu should be the car for the masses with the Impala more upscale and for typical American families who want a lot of space. The Impala's size right now is fine, it just needs to have a bigger interior for its size (and it should based on exterior dimensions). Those specs do look pretty good for the next-gen Malibu though, but keep the Impala where it is.
  21. Chevy Borrego I think, I don't remember how to spell it exactly.
  22. See my edited post. Josh has agreed to give away another prize for the winner if we get 15 entries again.
  23. Lexus, Cadillac Top Consumer Satisfaction Survey The Daily Auto Insider Friday, September 16, 2005 September 2005 Lexus is the highest-rated brand in terms of consumer satisfaction for 2005, barely topping Cadillac, according to a study released by automotive consulting firm AutoPacific, Inc. The results are calculated from owner satisfaction across 45 specific areas related to a vehicle's operation, comfort, safety and the overall purchase/lease experience, according to an AutoPacific news release. The 2005 ratings reflect input from buyers and lessees of new vehicles acquired September 2004 through January 2005. Cadillac won in 2001, shared top honors with Lexus in 2002 and won outright again in 2003. Lincoln won in 2004 and Lexus moves again into top spot for 2005. However, the vehicle registering highest overall satisfaction in 2005 is the Nissan Titan Full Size Pickup Truck. This is the first time that a pickup has won it all. The highest rated car is the Nissan Maxima, its affordable luxury mid-size entry. Nissan North America has seven winners this year, tops among the various corporations. Top performers in the survey are: Brand: Lexus Passenger Cars: Premium Luxury Car: Jaguar XJ Entry Luxury Car: Nissan Maxima Luxury/Large Car: Lincoln Town Car Premium Mid-Size Car: Nissan Altima/Buick LaCrosse Standard Mid-Size Car: Mazda6 Compact Car: Scion xB Sports Car: Porsche 911 Sporty Car: Pontiac GTO Light Trucks: Large Light-Duty Pickup: Nissan Titan Large Heavy-Duty Pickup: Dodge Ram HD Compact Pickup: Nissan Frontier Luxury Sport Utility: Volvo XC90 Large Sport Utility: Nissan Armada Premium Mid-Size Sport Utility: Nissan Murano Standard Mid-Size Sport Utility: Chevrolet Equinox/Hyundai Santa Fe Compact Sport Utility: Hyundai Tucson/Honda Element Minivan: Toyota Sienna/Honda Odyssey/Nissan Quest
  24. Is this the pic you guys are talking about? If so the GTO is there, but not the Vibe or SV6. If it's not, could you post it? I couldn't find it.
  25. It just looks pixelated because your computer resizes it to fit on the screen. If you copy + paste it in photoshop you should get a very big image that isn't pixelated at all.
