  1. Eww, that's horrible. Looks like something that would have come out five years ago.
  2. This is probably the best-looking out of the Escalades, IMO. It's a big improvement over the current one and should continue to sell well.
  3. Looks good, if very similar to the current one.
  4. The EXT and ESV are being unveiled at NAIAS, not LA. Not sure on the Av but Chicago is a good guess.
  5. Interesting, the H3T had that same sort of roof (though it was a lot smaller).

    ROSE BOWL!!

Agreed. Reggie can run inside though, the line just seemed to open up the holes better for Lendale, and when you get to the second level of defenders, that's where Reggie gets to break the big one. Lendale runs a person over and then gets tackled, whereas Reggie can make a couple guys miss and outrun everyone else. I think USC should have lined Bush up as WR to get him out in space. He had 6 catches for 95 yards, and almost all of them were him making people miss in space. I say line him up like they did with Dwayne Jarret, pass him the ball and make one guy miss and then turn it up field with that blazing speed that Jarret doesn't quite have, and you've got a 20 yard gain instead of 8-10 like Jarret. This was just an interesting thing I found out looking at the stats: Reggie got the ball from scrimmage (not counting kickoff and punt returns) 19 times for 177 yards, or 9.3 yards/touch. His rushing average was 6.3 yards/carry which is pretty damn good for another back. Anyways, the comparison is that Young ran or threw the ball 59 times for 467 yards, which is 7.9 yards per every throw/run. Vince may have thrown it away a couple times, but most of the time when he was under pressure he just ran instead of throwing it away. I'm not taking anything away from Young, because he won the game, but everyone was saying (at least at school) that Reggie didn't show up. Well, I don't know what you want him to do, 9.3 yards/touch is pretty damn good if you ask me. When you have the best player in college football on your team, he best touch the ball more than 19 times. You never saw Micheal Jordan only touch the ball 19 times in a NBA Finals basketball game.
  7. I dunno, that one looks like a step back from the current one from a styling standpoint to me at least.
  8. Well, in a rather small ditch, yes, but how about on the Rubicon?
  9. The FJ pricing was surprised to me. If Toyota's only selling 46k for a full year, I would have expected them to try to make a fat profit and sell them at about $25-26k base. They could easily sell 46k of them at that price, even if it's controversial looking and has the worst interior design from anyone in a long time.

    ROSE BOWL!!

That was certainly a great game, as all the BCS bowls were. I think SC gave up on Reggie Bush too early. Lendale did pretty good, but Reggie is the best player in college football, and you need to get him the damn ball if he's on your team. I don't mean to take anything away from Vince Young because he's a hell of a player, but he gets to touch to ball on every play, Reggie touched it probably 15 times when he needs to touch it 25 times.

TD Texas. I want to see what type of crazy play USC has in store.
  12. Z06 Pace Car. It's up now! Enjoy!
  13. For release: Jan. 5, 2006, 12:01 a.m. EST CORVETTE Z06 TO PACE DAYTONA 500 WITH JAY LENO AT THE WHEEL LOS ANGELES – A specially outfitted 2006 Corvette Z06 will serve as the official pace car of the 48 th running of the Daytona 500, on Feb. 19. “Tonight Show” host and auto enthusiast Jay Leno will drive the pace car. The Daytona 500 is NASCAR’s premier race and traditionally kicks off the Nextel Cup racing season. Selection of the Z06 model marks the second consecutive year that a Corvette has been selected as the Daytona 500 pace car. “It is a wonderful honor to have Corvette serve once again as the Daytona 500 pace car,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “Chevrolet has a long, successful history at Daytona and there’s no better vehicle to showcase our performance legacy than the Corvette Z06 – a car that was born on the race track.” The Corvette Z06 that will serve as the Daytona 500 pace car is mechanically identical to those available at Chevrolet dealerships. It is the fastest vehicle ever offered by Chevrolet and General Motors. With 505 horsepower (377 kw) and 470 lb.-ft. of torque (637 Nm) from its 7.0L all-aluminum, racing-inspired engine, the Corvette Z06 leaps from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 198 mph. It also differs from other production Corvette models with extensive use of lightweight materials, including carbon-fiber front fenders and a chassis comprised of aluminum and magnesium. A racing-ready suspension and large, 18-inch front wheels and 19-inch rear wheels help keep it glued to the tarmac, so it requires no drivetrain modifications to satisfy its role in front of the racing pack. In its official capacity, however, the pace car is outfitted with a variety of safety equipment and highly visible strobe lights. Interestingly, the Corvette Z06’s 505-horsepower (377 kw) output is actually more than the power produced by the race cars that will compete in the Daytona 500 – a first for a pace car. This is because of the unique “restrictor plate” rule established for the Daytona and Talladega , Ala. racetracks. On these 2.5-mile-long super speedways, the restrictor plate reduces airflow into the engine to limit horsepower and keep race car speeds below 200 mph. With a restrictor plate, racing engine power is reduced from about 750 horsepower to about 450 horsepower. Race cars can still average more than 190 mph on Daytona’s long straights. The Corvette Z06 Daytona 500 wears a unique paint scheme, inspired by the hot-to-cool color transition of a space capsule entering Earth’s atmosphere at a high rate of speed. The paint scheme is carried out with an elaborate, interlocking scallops design – a twist on hot rod-style flames – that blends “hot” Lemon Drop yellow at the nose of the Corvette with Lemon Glow, Amber Ecstasy, Blazing Copper and Hot Poppy. The colors culminate with a cool Sapphire Trance blue color at the rear of the vehicle. DuPont, the sponsor of Jeff Gordon’s No. 24 Monte Carlo, supplied the colors, which are from the company’s “Hot Hues” line of automotive paint. “As if the Corvette Z06 needed help in looking fast, the intricate paintwork of the pace car gives it the appearance of tremendous speed,” said Peper. “It is one of the most elaborate and stunning vehicle designs we’ve created.” Leno behind the wheel Jay Leno, host of the “Tonight Show” and an unabashed auto enthusiast, will drive the Corvette Z06 during opening ceremonies and the pace laps that start the race. Leno, who has a large collection of vintage automobiles and motorcycles, has previous experience as a pace car driver. Chevrolet returns to the Daytona 500 with 18 victories – the most of any manufacturer – including last year’s champion Jeff Gordon. Chevrolet also returns as the defending manufacturer’s cup champion, an award that has been bestowed 29 times. Also, defending Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart drives the No. 20 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Joe Gibbs Racing. “The Corvette Z06 already is a performance legend and the fans will enjoy seeing it lead their favorite drivers around Daytona’s famous tri-oval,” said Robin Braig, president of Daytona International Speedway. “It promises to be a great race, and kicking it off with a Corvette at the head of the pack is the best way to start.” The Daytona 500 is one of the largest events in motorsports, drawing more than 168,000 fans to the track and attracting nearly 11 million American television viewers. It also is broadcast around the world.
  14. In a little over 30 minutes C&G will have pics and information for you on a GMC and Chevy truck debut, along with a less significant Chevy car debut. Be sure to be with us as the information will be moved to the forums as soon as the clock strikes 12:01 AM EST on Jan 5th.
  15. Lambda vans were cancelled a while ago and new codes were made for new ones as far as I know (they're on a document I have from Oct).

    ROSE BOWL!!

3 and out for SC on the first drive. Texas looks ready to play. Edit: Texas fumbled the kick and SC recovered.
  17. Because the '06 Tahoe looks just like the '05 Tahoe and would create confusion. That, and people always want the newest thing out there, and having an '07 Tahoe just sounds better to many that an '06.
  18. It does look very good, I'm hoping that the Yukon XL looks better than the regular Yukon, as I feel the Suburban looks better than the Tahoe.
  19. Well it should be of high quality considering it's a concept car. The engine compartment is okay, but something like on the Sixteen would have been more interesting.
  20. From Autoweek: Envisioned as a “noble” yet attainable flagship positioned a cut above the 300C (“It’s a six-figure image but at a much lower price,” says Tremont), the concept designed in Chrysler’s Auburn Hills studio doesn’t mimic Imperials of the past, but it does draw on some of the styling cues from those older cars. It also carries expressive attributes from Chrysler’s long line of concept cars, from the 1953 d’Elegance to the Fire-power that premiered at last year’s Detroit show. The wide-open, B-pillar-less doors allow a panoramic view of the show car’s opulent four-seat, two-tone interior, where no expense is spared when it comes to use of leather, suede, California burl wood accents and satin-finished aluminum. Designers also paid considerable attention to handcrafted components like the sculptured instrument panel with large dual gauges, coved ceiling, and the floating oval armrests in the doors, all bathed in warm light.
  21. Judging from this pic, it doesn't appear that the back seat is too great: The Challenger is so long because the hood is streched a lot compared the the Magnum/Charger/300 and the rear end is rather lengthy as well.
  22. I think it will add volume, but I also think a lot of people will simply opt for the GXP rather than the regular Solstice -- which is fine, I'm guessing the GXP is higher profit for GM. It will attract some buyers that otherwise wouldn't want a Solstice because it didn't have the performance they wanted, but I also don't expect the Solstice to continue its torrid pace. It will still sell well, but not at the amazing volume (for a roadster) that it is at now, and the SKY will steal some sales too.
  23. Agreed about the trunk space, but I don't think that many people buy any type of roadster with the intent of using it everyday for all their needs. My uncle has a Miata and he occasional takes it to the golf course, but he also has a Mustang Cobra convert and other vehicles if he needs more room.
  24. Well it will certainly be more expensive -- you're not going to see any ESs going for under $30k most likely, and I don't think consumers think that the current Buicks are more prestigious than the current ES, sadly. Buick doesn't really need to target Lexus. They should shoot just below Lexus at a price that's much below. Going head-to-head with Lexus was never a good idea, and I don't think Buick's going to win that battle if they do enter it. Targeting Lexus as the quality leader and trying to beat them in quality and trying to match them in interior quality (materials) is certainly a good idea, but not if it warrants a price increase to Lexus levels.
  25. Any update on the story? I haven't found anything else about it, and it's been a while since this was posted.
