From Autoweek: http://www.autoweek.com/files/specials/200...va/pages/01.htm The Captiva will be the first Chevrolet model to use GM’s new Korean-built family of common-rail turbodiesel engines jointly developed by GMDAT, GM Powertrain and VM Motori in Italy. At its July launch, the Captiva will be available with a 2.0-liter, 150hp common-rail direct-injection turbodiesel as well as 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 3.2-liter V-6 gasoline engines. The Captiva shares its architecture with the Antara GTC, Opel’s new medium SUV, which launches at the end of the year. The Antara GTC will be offered as a five-seater only while the Captiva will have a seven-seat variant, thanks to a longer body and a third row of seats. Entry-level Captivas will come with front-wheel drive and room for five. Here's an interior pic that autoweek didn't have: It looks really good to me, and I like what they did with the spot where NAV would/can go.

Shouldn't there be pics somewhere, or are there still more press days to come? It looks like a combination of the Charger and Caliber to me so far. Not bad but we need more views/pics. EDIT: Oh, I guess there's another press day still (March 1).

I haven't seen any Yukons on the road, but they do look a lot better sitting on the dealer lot, even compared to seeing them in person at the auto show.

I never looked at the Charger's looks that way, but that's actually a good way to judge it now that I think about it. The SRT-8 is really boy-racerish, and for the price doesn't seemed very refined. If you want in-your-face and racer-like, then it's fine, but if you want something more sophisticated, then you have to go elsewhere (I guess the 300C SRT-8 is somewhat more sophisticated, but still nothing like a CTS-V or BMW).

The interior looks a lot more interesting than current DCX cars (doesn't have a truck-line design), and it sort of reminds me of a blocky version of the Accord's interior. The materials look ok, but it's really rather hard to tell... the door panels at least look pretty good, unlike the Charger's. The main problem I see is that the HVAC controls seem really low and randomly placed.

Theta would work, or a shortened Colorado platform would probably work as well and would be a real 4x4, whereas Theta probably wouldn't be.

That's cool they contacted you. The new Tahoe seems to be bringing in non-GM buyers too. When I was at the dealer one day a couple in an Odyssey were looking at the new Tahoe, and the next time I drove by (about a week later) a couple in an Armada test drove a Tahoe.

The Cobalt should be pretty economical, and inexpensive to maintain because you don't have to worry about repairs since it will have a warranty. Sounds like a pretty good choice to me.

If all I'm interested in is power, I'll buy the R/T for $32k and give it a few inexpensive upgrades (relatively) such as a camshaft, headers, exhuast, intake, and maybe a couple other goodies and be able to beat an SRT-8.

Umm, if something fell off a GM car people would be bashing it all the same. However, it just happened to be a Toyota. Sure, they take abuse, but they're going to get a similar amount of abuse if you have kids crawling all over them when you buy them. No other vehicle had anything other than gear shift knobs and radio controls removed by the manufacturers. No piece of a center stack just magically fell off because of abuse.

The Aspen is much improved over the Durango, but I wasn't at all impressed with the interior (sat in it) at the auto show. The Tahoe kills it.

The upper part is softer than the lower part, but I wouldn't want to rest my arm there for an extended period of time. It might be vinyl in the GTO, but the horizontal (to the ground) part is leather I'm pretty sure... feels the same as the stuff on the seats. The only hard part in the GTO is the black part way down below the side bolster of the seat, which you never touch. The other blue part is some sort of fabric that feels fine. The only really hard parts in the GTO are above the center stack and the glove box area. I do not think the Charger's interior is befitting of a $40k+ vehicle. I realize that it also comes as a $23k vehicle, but you would think Dodge would do something else to make it better from a base version.

I could care less what color the guages are as long as they look good, and they look fantastic in the Enclave.

2007 Yukon XL and Yukon XL Denali Round Out GMC's

The prices could stand to be a little less, but they are class-leading vehicles so they might as well demand a higher price. Considering you can get a 2006 Yukon XL (non-Denali) over $50k, I don't think $50k is too bad for the '07 Denali XL. -

I don't know if you'll be able to find an LS6 too easily, but I've seen LS1s on eBay every now and then. You only start 50HP down and with a couple mods you'd be at basically the same power or even more with the money you'd save most likely.

I doubt it would have popped out on a pothole, but let's say you have a big person in the front seat... if they were getting out and their knee hit the back of it getting out then I think it could pop out. I was actually thinking about that when I tugged on it and thought that a front-end colision might pop it out (and a relatively slow one - not a 35-40mph one). O.C. - I'm sure there are GM vehicles that could do similar things. I could take the HVAC controls off my Alero, but it required more pulling still, and the Alero was a cheap little car. This was a $30k Camry that shouldn't have random parts popping off with a slight pull. Also, it's a Toyota, isn't it supposed to be bullet-proof?

No way that the Charger has as much soft-touch material as the GTO, especially not on the door panel trim: Please show me what materials are as soft-touch as the leather in the GTO: http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-2004/200...or-1280x960.jpg See the blue? All of the upper blue on the door panel is leather. The Charger has average-grade plastic. It may not be hard and brittle, but it's not nearly as nice as the GTO's. I agree both have great seats, and the swithgear may be better in the Charger... I didn't really pay that close of attention.

While it's not good news, at least the rebates aren't as big as they were. GM isn't going to get away from rebates overnight, and at least they are making some progress. In 2-3 years I think GM will "normal" rebates with all of them in the sub-$1500 range.

I don't like the G6 interior that much, and I'm not really that impressed with the materials. They aren't horrible, but they need to be better to be class-leading. However, it has much better build quality than the new Camry; you can't just pull off pieces of the center stack with a slight tug: (Think what you will, but it required very little effort to remove this piece at the auto show).

The GTO would handle a lot better than it does if it didn't have the craptacular tires from what I've read, but who knows. We can fight all we want, but to each their own. If you want to compare apples to apples, it's probably best to compare a Charger R/T to a GTO because the price is basically the same; if you want to compare an SRT-8 to a GTO then you might as well put $5k in upgrades on the GTO so the prices are the same. I would certainly hope a $43k performance vehicle could beat a $32k performance vehicle, but put a few goodies on the $32k vehicle and the $43k vehicle will get its ass handed to it.

They don't "need" three, it just so happens that they have three. If Toyota had more brands, then obviously they'd have multipul models in the same segments too.

Why? Because the GTO kicks the Charger's ass? The Charger has a laughable interior for the price, while the GTO's is actually very nice. About the only thing the Charger has over the GTO is more seats and more rear legroom. Other than that, there's little reason to spend $40k+ on an SRT-8 when you can get a GTO for $30k.
