Aura Doesn't Measure Up to "Expectations"
Northstar replied to MyerShift's topic in Heritage Marques
It's been moved. -
Well, there are certain tires that rub even though they are the same size. For instance if you get 17s (they're P245/45ZR17) and need new tires, some brands aren't exactly the same as others and rub. Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S's rub and you have to get them in 235/45ZR17. Even though the numbers would say the sidewall is smaller, it ends up being the same (and you don't have to adjust the speedo). There are other similar issues like that. If you want wider than 275s out back you will have to get the fenders rolled as well. Basically, just be careful and make sure the tires aren't rubbing in any way if you get new tires. LS1GTO.com has a ton of info on any and all problems with tires/wheels.

An HHR Spring Edition.

The Torana platform was far too expensive for GM to build, so I think that we were either going to end up with the Solstice and Sky or nothing at all with GM's financial situation. Maybe what evok saw/heard was going to be way too expensive for GM at the time, and when the coffers are lined again, maybe we'll see a more expensive Kappa II.
-
But then it wouldn't have given anyone a reason to buy it over those cars. Unless it is far superior in every other way (which it's not), what reason is GM giving people to get out of their Sebring or Solara and into a G6 except that it has a hardtop? It seems that this is the case of GM being damned if they do it and damned if they don't. If it was a soft top we'd be hearing from many "Why the hell didn't GM do something ahead of the curve for once and make the G6 and hard top!"

Trimnell1 and Mr.Krinkle: I understand you don't agree, but you need to respect each others opinions and if you really have a problem with each other, please take it to PM to get it worked out. Thanks.

Saw a new Camry in white sitting in the parking lot. It looked pretty bad, maybe other colors will make it look better.

What about Toyota? Wouldn't the IS platform work or is it too expensive for a Toyota? Isn't the NG BLS supposed to be a 2010 or 2011MY? If so, could they still yet switch it over to Kappa?

SATURN AURA RADIATES STYLE, REFINEMENT
Northstar replied to Northstar's topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
Guys, come on here. If you want to talk about computers, do so in the lounge. This thread is about the Aura, and there's no reason for you to have gotten so off topic that 18 of the last 19 posts have been about computers. Again, take it to the lounge. I'm deleting all of these computer posts. -
Enough with the childish fighting, guys, and I don't need to name names, you know who you are. This thread has been pretty productive up until now, and there's no reason to ruin it. Josh, what vehicles do you have codes for?
-
I saw a Yaris the other day. It looked cartoonish.

There are plenty of other people who buy trucks too. Maybe, just maybe, those people you listed will see how much better the interiors in other trucks are and realize "Wow, this is great!" and buy it instead. And maybe, just maybe, people who didn't want a truck becuase of crude interiors before will now buy one instead of a car because of the added utility. And guess what? That means increase profit for GM

Bravo GM! They're actually becoming totally global little by little!

No, but he's the one that started the thread and mentioned the V6, HO V6, and 6.2L V8 ehaase mentioned.

FWIW, 21.1% of 300s went to fleet in the first 6 months of 2005, so it has probably gone up slightly by now. Still, that's a lot less than the Impala (though it was the old model - the new one may be better). http://www.fleet-central.com/af/t_pop_pdf....05/cars_web.pdf

You have your opinion and I have mine, but guionM has been pretty damn accurate in the past.

I mowed my next door neighbors yard like 5 times when they moved and no one was living there and they paid me $40 a time, it took about an hour and 10 minutes with a push mower. Out of the three cars you listed I would actually go for a Miata. If it breaks there are plenty around so it would be cheap to fix (or cheaper than the BMW at least), and I think they're pretty reliable. My uncle has one (and a Mustang Cobra convert that I want to drive) that's a '95 or so I think, and it has been very reliable. Apparantly they let a lot of people use it around the neighborhood to learn how to drive a stick on (I did), so it has probably been through a lot of bad shifting and such and still runs fine. If I had another GTO I might send you one of them, but I don't

I agree a softtop would be better for practicality, but there aren't many hardtops that give you a lot of trunk space. None of the cars you mentioned are hardtops.

I don't know if that really counts as a lemon. It could be as simple as some dirt getting into a fuel injector or something minor if it's just a ticking sound. They had to replace the whole engine because that's GM's policy. It could be some little dumb problem that could be fixed in 10 minutes if they were allowed to look at it, but they aren't.

I'm probably going to get yelled at for this, but that's okay. BV: Do you not have any form of public transportation there? If you found a good job, you could get a summer bus pass (which is pretty cheap around here) and have your mom take you to the bus stop. Then you could ride the bus to work and save money until you had enough money to put down a good down payment on a nicer car that you could count on being reliable. Since you live in the country I'm guessing most people mow their own lawns, but if not you could probably also make a killing on them since yards in the country are normally pretty big. If you got 5+ people to mow for, sold you 300EX and bought a mower, and charged like $60 a mow (assuming it would be big and take you a long time - around here people pay about $40 for a yard that takes about an hour) you'd be making $300 a week on that. Again I'm guessing most people mow their own yards, but it might be worth a try. I'm just trying to throw some ideas out there for you... On a related note, I could have had a job that paid $12 an hour this summer, but it was from 6AM to 4PM 5 days a week meaning I'd be getting up at 5AM or so every day. I'd be making like $600 a week, which would translate to over $7k, but I just didn't feel like getting up at 5AM every morning. Now I'm sort of regretting not taking it because I want to do some stuff to the GTO, but oh well.

Who is the Lion's starting QB now? Jeff Garcia? They would have been smart to take Leinart with all those receivers, but I think he'd just get beat up with their O-line. Ernie Sims (who they took) should be a pretty good LB. He's fast as hell and has a great motor. He was one of the best players on one of the best defenses last year (FSU). The Tigers are actually doing very well this year I think, which is surprising.

I agree, but it certainly doesn't need multipul vehicles going against the Camcord. Right now, Chevy has no traditional American cars. They have a imported car from Korea, a car that's comparable to a Civic, a car that's comparable to an Accord, and a car like the Avalon. There is nothing there for the typical American buyer, and the LX cars show that there IS a market for cars like that. The next Impala will address this problem, as will the Camaro, but Pontiac and Buick both need cars that aren't trying to hide there American-ness and be Japanese. Look at every successful American car. How many of those are trying to be Japanese? How many are saying "F*** being Japanese, I'm an American car!"? Now look at every unsucessful American car and ask the same questions.

So it was the BJ Cruiser?
