That's pretty funny. I thought at first the story meant he dove down 50 feet below the surface of the water, but obviously not.

I would agree that dead buttons aren't really a problem unless they stick out like a sore thumb. The Escalade's dead button is hardly noticeable at all. The Tundra's is more noticable because of the difference of color of the two plastics, but it's not too noticeable either. As for plood? I think sales figures show that if it looks real, then no one cares, and the Escalade's plood certainly looks real.

The hybrids are the 2.4 BAS and then the 3.6 two-mode full hybrid. The 3 non-hybrids are the 2.4, 3.5 V6, and 3.6 V6. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but the 2.4 and 3.5 are (to the best of my knowledge) still only getting the 4-speed, while the 3.6 gets the 6-speed.

I don't understand your question? I think people can say whether they think it looks good or not by your pictures. Yes, it's a prototype, but it's still 99.9% of what the production model will look lilke. I don't think anyone said "the materials suck" or commented about "it's going to be terribly slow," (things they would not know at this point) but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I know I'm guilty too, but as Z said, let's not forget what the title of this thread is, guys. If you guys want to discuss the Tundra, there's a thread over in the Asian Brand's board. I am happy to see that we have however, for the most part, been able to carry on a logical discussion without many useless posts.

I doubt hardly any cars share windshields, the Silverado and Sierra probably do, as do some SUVs I'm sure, but I don't think many cars do anymore. I'm pretty sure the Maxima is a good bit wider than the Altima, so if it used the Altima's windshield, then, well, it wouldn't fit. It would be rather difficult to share windshields between vehicles, I think, because that means the distance from where it meets the roof to where it ends has to be almost exactly the same, the width has to be exactly the same, and if there's any difference in the thickness of the A-Pillars, even if they have the same width, that could throw things off.

Look again, and make sure it's in the highest-res possible. The driver's side lines up as it should. The passenger's side does not, however. The line created by the dash protruding does not line up from the dash to the door, nor does any other line in the area I have made a shape around that goes from the dash and onto the door. It's close, yes, but it doesn't like up as it should. And keep in mind this is a $40k+ vehicle.

This thread has outlived it's needed lifespan.

OSU has trimesters? I didn't know that... The important thing is obviously getting your GenEds in. I'm taking all GenEds except for one Mech Eng class (Calc, Calc 2, 2 semesters of Chem, 1 of Physics, then other elective Gen Eds).

Actually, if I was working on the project, I would think I was designing and building a Japanese truck, not an American one. If I get an internship with Toyota, I won't think for a second that I'm designing American cars. Toyota has never designed anything distinctly American, and I don't know if they ever will. Back to the Sierra: GMCTGuy: yes, the Sierra will be on lots before winter the end of the year, so you'll be able to see them up close before the auto shows. I'm hoping GM prices the new trucks slightly less than the current ones. That way, they won't need any incentives for a very long time, and people will feel that they're getting a great deal, and GM will actually be making more money on each truck because of the lack of incentives.

2007 N. American Car & Truck of the Year Finalists
Northstar replied to Variance's topic in Industry News
I don't recall mags even placing the old S-Class against Bentlys and Rolls-Royces, but apparantly they did? The LS 460 is listed. Wouldn't they probably have something like LS 460/LS 600H if they were including the hybrird? -

I think the S-Class will win car of the year. It's beaten Bentlys and Rolls-Royces in more than one test, and every review has been very praiseworthy. For the truck, I think the Silverado will probably take home the trophy. The Tahoe has a chance as well. I'm surprised to see the Acadia on there. Apparantly it's been tested and it's better than the Outlook, since it's not there? -
The User Ignore Feature: Use it, don't abuse it
Northstar replied to Northstar's topic in Site News and Feedback
How do you know if any response or action has been taken? Maybe the moderators did not respond back to you, but rather responded about it to Razor? Or maybe they took action by warning Razor, and you wouldn't have any knowledge of whether he's been warned or not because you can't see his warning level. Hmmm.... Don't assume that the moderators have taken no action based simply on the fact that you didn't get a response back. You can't see Razor's PM box, and you can't see his warning level, so how do you know that no action has been taken? Actually, I never had a problem with it until I saw it happening in multipul instances. Your post just happened to be the one that finally made me decide that enough childish horse$h! was enough, and therefore I deleted your post. Then, I decided that sense multipul people had done it, a warning to the whole community needed to be made. If you were the only one who had done it, I would have sent you a PM about it. Instead, you should have taken this thread to be your PM, just like everyone else should. If you're so tired of the way this place is run, then leave. Seriously. Go start your own forum so you can moderate it the way you think it should be moderated, with free speech and all. Then, go find a bunch of 12 year olds and assign them moderator positions, and see how they do. Finally, go find some people that are known enemies, and have them carry on conversations with each other, but make sure that they don't get in any fights with each other. If they do, make sure you make the right decesion on who to warn, but if you don't make everyone happy, then YOU"RE FIRED! -
Since he doesn't know yet for sure, I'm assuming '07. How did the interview go?

Industrial Engineering can also get you to the automotive field, but it would deal more with the assembly plants than developing vehicles, I think. Is OSU Ohio State or somewhere else?

The User Ignore Feature: Use it, don't abuse it
Northstar replied to Northstar's topic in Site News and Feedback
You're rather contradictory in your claim of "Freedom of Speech." You claim you can post whatever the hell you want, but at the same time, you use a tool to prohibit Razoredge from speaking what he wants to you? So, obviously this site does not have total freedom of speech, otherwise we wouldn't have such a thing as the User Ignore Feature, would we? Yes, I deleted your post, and yes I posted a thread about it. But first, I posted a thread about it in the admin forum, and others agreed that it should not be tolerated. And BTW, no one has Freedom of Speech here. Not you. Not me. No one. If I feel a fellow admin posts something that doesn't need to be on the board, I won't hestitate to delete it, and I'm pretty certain that if I were to post something that they did not feel should be tolerated, they would delete it as well. You have the ability to post what you want, so long as the moderators/admins see fit. If we don't think it's reasonable for someone to post this or that, then we'll let everyone know about it and everyone can be fairly warned. So, you don't have the right of freedom of speech on C&G, you have the right of freedom of approved speech. So, now that you know you don't have free speec, maybe you should change. -
I think the Spring Edition did well, so I guess they thought it was a good idea to do a fall edition. Why can't GM seem to do limited edition runs for other vehicles? The Cobalt would benefit from it, as would some Cadillacs, the G6, Aura, Solstice, Sky, and others.

Unfortunately, I don't have an Acura dealer near me, so I can't do that. Here is another pic that has the passenger's side misaligned: http://www.automobilemag.com/multimedia/ph...cura_mdx+18.jpg

Yes, that picture. Even if the door is open a slight bit though, it's not going to make the trim on the door move down when it closes.
-
Whoops, I forgot about that, I'll edit the post and link to them instead.
-
http://familycar.com/RoadTests/AcuraMDX/Photos2007.htm Notice that the trim doesn't like up from the door to the dash.

The mirrors are terrible. I think it's safe to say this is the worst new Saturn, and it's also the only one that wasn't designed here.

Comparing the Tahoe's gas mileage to the RDX's is dumb. The Tahoe is a 5500lb full-size SUV, and I'm guessing the RDX weighs no more than 4000lbs. The RAV4 gets 22/29 MPG with the V6, so I don't see why the RDX shouldn't be able to get similar.

The SRX is a world-class vehicle, while the older Escalade is not (IMO). So, if you go that route, I'd definetly look for a used SRX. And you said you wanted a V8 AWD, but the V6s I drove had plenty of giddy-up, and this is coming from someone who drives a GTO. From experience (working at a dealer over the summer), there are plenty of SRXs to be had a GM auctions, so you might see what your dealer can find at an auction and for what price. The HHR wouldn't be a bad choice either, and then maybe you'd have more options in 16 months. On the flip side, got the SRX now, the HHR SS would be out in 16 months, and maybe she'd like that to replace the Optra (and it'd be fun for you when she had the SRX).

The Tundra, maybe, because the Ram is pretty bad, but the S-Class mops up the LS460 (although at a much higher price) and the Land Cruiser looked pretty ugly from the spy shots.
